Last night's version of Civil War sounded even better than Nashville. Axl had way more rasp singing the chorus last night and also didn't stumble over some of the lyrics he forgot/had trouble with in Nashville. Fantastic performance last night!

Agreed. I posted a link to the mp3 a page of so back for those interested.

To be fair, Axl isn't even whistling at the right part. He's supposed to do it after the "What's so civil about war, anyways?" line.

Blast! Nobody in the band knows how to play the song.

Huh? That's exactly how he sang it last night. "What's so civil about war, anyways?" and then whistling...where was the mistake?

The point is, it makes NO difference live, and I will be verifying that tonight when I get back from the show.

Sit at home, nitpick everything, who cares!

Did you guys hear Fortus slightly bend that 46th note on the Civil War solo wrong?

I meant the other night in Nashville he reversed it. Too many Civil War threads.

Pointing out that Bumblefoot played the outro wrong isn't nitpicking, it's a fact. I tried to justify Bumblefoot's mistake saying that Axl messed up too. Did I say it makes a difference which order Axl does it in? No, I didn't. I was defending Bumblefoot.

By the way, I was also kidding when I said "Nobody in the band can play the song" or whatever. If you've seen my comments in the Civil War video threads you'll know I think that this line-up kills it.

I don't see anything wrong with the ending of Civil War.

Ya know... a guy like Bumblefoot and his photographic memory for music & his absolute pitch aren't necessarily helping him. He can't play Civil War correctly! Damn Bumblefoot. Nevermind if he transcribed Bucket's overly crazy shredding solos note for note, bend for bend... he simply can't play the Civil War ending.

Give me a fucking break. I can't play the Civil War ending correctly and I'm not even a guitarist. :sleeper:

WAIT. I noticed that he's not playing the Nightrain solo correctly. He also isn't playing Sorry's intro riff correctly, he does it wrong. His November Rain solo is fucked up as well. Fuck, too many mistakes. I can't live with that! I don't want him in the band anymore. I'm gonna email him & ask him to leave the band so DJ can play the Civil War ending correctly.

I have no doubt they will. Like Estranged, it'll probably just keep getting better and better. Enjoy the show!

How can they drop Better?

Reading comprehension isn't one of your strong suits, is it?

Okay. Dick. Sorry if I have poor eyesight. Why don't you go fuck yourself?

I have poor eyesight too and a lot of people are asses about it. I road a bus to Nashville for that show and in the bus station before returning this moron who worked there was smirking to a friend about my vision problem. Lot of idiots out there.

If I were Axl I wouldn't do songs people keep whinign about wanting to hear on here when so many then post such rude ass remarks like these people have been doing. Luckily he does them anyway. :) He does a song people hav begged for ever since the tour started and then all these responses are whining about him forgetting words in the first performance and a minor issue in both.

How is making an observation a "rude ass" remark? I'm glad they're doing Civil War and nowhere did I complain that Axl flubbed some lyrics.

Example of whining: "Wow, I can't believe he fucked up the words! And Bumblefoot's had how long to learn the proper ending? They ruined my favorite song!"

What was actually said, in jest I might add: "Axl whistled in the wrong spot, it should have been after 'What's so civil about war, anyway?' comment"

Apparently an observed guitar error (that happened twice) can't be discussed. Yes, it's very minor, but considering some of the other crap that's talked about around here, it's a bit of discussion. Is it also rude if I say that one time DJ messed up the Sweet Child O' Mine solo?

Damn where to begin this was my 4th time going to see Guns and by far the best experience I have had. My wife nephew and I went to BW3's before the show and it was great to see so many Guns fans out and about. I had the chance to meet BillsGuy and meet up with BigCash2002, who lucky was not the craigslist killer! At BW3's we got the word that it was rumored the Covelli Centre changed the floor to GA so we all left BW's pretty quickly. We get to the venue and find out the rumor was true and we were out of luck with our kick ass front row seats. Luckily my group and BigCash2002 was able to get against the railing to the far left of the stage.

BLS kicked things off and god damn their set was loud! I am not very familiar with their music but it was truly guitar driven. Zakk put on easily a ten minute guitar solo which seemed like it would never end. DJ and Richard was spotted next to the stage watching the performance. Then Dizzy came out beside the stage to watch a few minutes of the opener. I got the chance to congratulate him on the Rock Hall and he smiled and gave a tip of his coffee cup. BLS was a great opener for a rock show and it set the tone of the night. I didn't notice anything negative from the crowd about them and a positive no boos were heard.

The venue was getting pretty damn full between the bands. Yes there was some empty seats but most sections were pretty full. This was a fairly small venue compared to others and I would guess maybe 7000 or so fans in attendance. The open floor was about the only place I noticed any open areas. There is no better feeling in the world to look back before Guns and see a sea of people all sporting GnR gear waiting for the greatest band in the world.

As soon as the house lights went down and the Dexter theme started we were all treated to a kick ass non stop 3 hour experience. I won't go into every detail about the show since it was similar to most on this tour however I'll post some of my highlights.

- Axl's vocals are amazing! He can still hit the notes and has the rasp. The videos don't prove how good he actually sounds live.

- DJ is the perfect, long missing part of this band. I hope he is here for the long ride.

-You can see the bands chemistry coming together and every member looks to be having a great time. They are finally getting their identity as a band.

- Bumble and Richard are also amazing at what they do even if some just want to bitch about a missed note or sound. They bring 110% to the show.

-During Paradise Axl's whistle would not blow. He said “Piece of Shit” and thew it into the crowd.

-I had a sign that read Congrats Rock Hall and Azoff's A Jack-Off. Band members gave us thumbs up and even gave Bumble and Axl a laugh with the Azoff sign. Thanks for who ever posted this idea before the tour started. It was all I could do since I didn't get any inflatable dolphins.

Songs of the night:

Nigh Train and Brownstone kick major ass by this group. Estranged and Civil War were both beautiful and I really got into Whole Lotta Rosie, which has to be seen live to understand! Sorry was also a great jam. I did notice not many people in my area knew much of the lyrics to Chinese songs but let's hope after this tour more people are drawn into the album.

I won't go into any more details because it would be the same thing with every review. I am just blown away yet again by this band and I can not wait for them to tour the states again. Let's just hope it's not another 5 years for us to experience this show again. I am really kicking my own ass for not throwing down the money to also go to Cincy a week ago. If anyone on the boards still have a chance to go see this lineup do not pass it up. They are on fucking fire and you will be treated to a great Rock N Roll show.

I will try to post a few of the many pics I was able to grab.

Aw come on, why's the show I went to the one they decided to skip Shackler's on? Civil War sounds great, enough of you people showing off your technical knowledge. I am impressed that you learned the song and know how the fuck music terminology works, cause I don't know either of them. But no more of your crap here! Quit nitpicking Guns N' Fuckin' Roses!

I give up. Nobody can say one negative thing about this band, something which isn't even all that negative.

Let's try this again.. it was an OBSERVATION. I already said I'm willing to bet Bumblefoot is pretty much just winging the song since it hasn't had proper rehearsal, and you know what? He still kicks ass on it.

I swear Ashba could come out and start Jungle in a totally wrong key and as soon as someone would point out "Ashba botched the Jungle intro tonight" he or she would get crucified for "nitpicking" even though they were just pointing something out. I don't understand what is so hard to grasp about the difference between complaining and pointing something out. Half the original conversation was just between me and GNRSkidRow. He mentioned something and I replied, thus starting what is called a "discussion" which is what a forum is all about. I wasn't complaining, nor was he. He just said he felt the whistling sounded off as a result. That's it. His own opinion, just like I have my own opinion. Don't we all?

Glad for all those who went had a good time at the show! I would have killed to see Civil War in Hamilton. Nice pictures and review Mega_Music, sounds like you had a blast.

No, he would get critiqued for messing up something important. Unlike this, which is barely worth mentioning. Somebody did feel it was worth mentioning, and did so. It's not a big deal, either way.

Observations are fine, these 3 page arguments over them are just tiresome.

Look back the last couple pages of the thread. Me and GNRSkidRow1 made a few comments back and forth to each other and that was it. My only other comments have been defending myself and commenting on people who have posted stuff about the show. Again, I'm loving Civil War. For something that was barely rehearsed you'd think they've been playing it as long as Jungle. It sounds tight and awesome.

You're right, that was probably too extreme of an example, but nonetheless, the people who keep telling the ones who pointed it out to "stop nitpicking" are over exaggerating how much we really said about the matter. One quick fact that someone pointed out, and I happened to notice it to so I commented on it. It's not us trying to show off technical knowledge or anything, but since I do happen to know the song on guitar, it did stand out to me. I'm sure nobody in the crowd even realized it which is all that matters. Just because it didn't stand out to say you two guys doesn't mean it was the same way for others. Thus, someone who DID happen to notice it wrote one comment about it. That's it.

I also don't mean to sound like I'm attacking you guys either. If that part of the song doesn't bother you, awesome, but let us who are bothered by it be bothered. ;)

Mistake or not, check out my signature, I love the guy.

Bumblefoot is a lot better at playing Slash than Robin Finck was.

Let him play it his own way. The Bumblefoot way.

This is easily one of the dumbest statements Ive read

So your knocking Robin because he didnt sound like SLash . You do realize that Robin never once tried to play like Slash right? Its his style/interpretation applied to the GNR catalogue...unlike cough cough DJ and Bumble who basically play the old stuff note for note. WHich isnt a bad thing but thats what they do

But the kicker is you give Bumble your blessing for playing the old stuff "his way" when you clearly dont give that same blessing to Robin

Bumble is a solid solid guiatarist. But he gets a pass here for one reason only. He talks to the fans.
