Fans Demand............Axl Responds...........

I'd like to personally thank Axl and the band for listening to their fans and responding!

GnR made some great steps in 2011, and I'm sure Axl and company know what fans hope for in 2012. A new record first and foremost. And if not a new record in 2012, then a boxset that includes: some new songs, a live dvd, videos we didn't get from CD, alternative versions of songs, etc.

I started this thread because after reading a bunch of the current topics, I noticed that the SAME posters are still complaining about the same things. Never changes, no matter what GnR does.

So a few things fans demanded.........and the band followed up on and actually did!!!!

Media - Axl and the entire band did media in 2011. So much for the gag order the haters love to mention. Axl did a tv interview and a couple newspaper/radio spots. The rest of the band did several interviews.

Estranged and Civil War. People have begged for Estranged for a decade. Estranged was added. So then people begged for Coma or Civil War............and Civil War was added.

Start Times. Didn't GnR take the stage an hour or less after the opening band in pretty much every show this tour? They were less than an hour in Seattle after Loaded left the stage. Fans complain about the two hour delays .........GnR stopped doing that.

Variety in set list. I saw the last American tour and this current one and there was at least a 7-8 difference in the songs played.

2011 was a great year to be a GnR fan.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree 2011 was fantastic as a GNR fan. To be fair, so was 2010 because the shows they put on were fucking awesome.

I don't wish to get carried away with my expectations of 2012, but I guess the minimum I expect is either a new tour debuting 1 or 2 brand new songs or news that significant strides have been made in the releasing of a new album with hope for a 2013 release. It'd be awesome to get a new album this year, but we have to not get carried away considering how long it took for the last album.

In essence though- playing old songs, awesome gigs, live streams, DVDs are all fantastically awesome- but ultimately it's been 4 years since Chinese Democracy was released and they've toured everywhere with the songs now. My hope is the plan is some way or another focused on new music.

My only complaint would be there was some Chinese material I didn't get to hear at the shows I went to, songs that were played during the Canadian run. Other than that, I was ecstatic to hear Estranged and to see this verson of the band live...so much fun and energy at the shows. I hope they do it again this summer.

Everything you said, I couldnt agree more. Great fn post!

For old school fans in the states, 2011 was a great year. Finally got a US tour after waiting five years. Set list was a great mix of material from Appetite, Illusion and Chinese.

The people who complain are not people who are fans anymore. They don't go to shows. They used to like Guns N' Roses, now they don't and they're angry about it. So they polute the forums and complain regardless of what the band is up to.

Agree! They do polute this forum with their opinons and get pissed when we dont see it their way. They actually think their opinion is the truth and write endless rants to try to prove a point, and never prove a damn thing.

3 years since Chinese was released, not 4.

On topic: great fucking year for Guns fans, and I really hope Axl will stay in that good place he seems to be in his head right now, moving forward with new material, releasing another album and just giving this great line up a chance to show what they can do together in the studio, while letting the world also hear the rest of what Bucket and Robin came up with by releasing cd2.

I'm really not an optimistic person, but compared to previous years, 2011 made me feel those things I just typed are possible in the somewhat near future. maybe. Gn'R rocked in 2011.

There are few things more annoying than someone who constantly feels the necessity to be the "voice of reason". You have no right to censor anyone, you will end up with a forum with ten people in it. Be careful what you wish for.

It's just optimism vs pessimism, people who accept things unquestioningly vs people who say, "Great. Here's another awesome thing you can do." It's just two different personality types, nothing more.

But I agree that 2011 was a great year. Only thing that would've made it better is if my dad hadn't sold my ticket. :fuckyou:

2011 was a great year for GNR.

The show I went to in ATL was amazing.

First TV interview in a looooooong time.

Live stream pay per view ( sort of lol)

The band playing estranged and CW.

Hall of Fame nod.

Members of the band doing interviews and talking more.

Talk of a new record coming SOON lol.

Axl seemingly open to a partial reunion.

More tweets and Facebook shiz.

Settled things with azoff and live nation( so it seems)

Axl in a great mood during shows.

Axl seen in public reading rags.....heehee

Ok I'll stop there.

Thank you Axl n crew.

And thank you Bumble for touring through the pain.

What a fucking tough motherfucker.

I hope that 2012 is the year that the hardcores get there wish granted.....

NEW TUNES. Because all the previously listed things are wonderful but

IMO the forum dwellers want new music when it comes down to it.

We want to hear Seven and soul monster and the general and all of these

Songs that become almost mythical fantasies that we can only dream of what they would sound like................

Good topic and post, Groghan! I also think MSL was spot on about the negative fans.

I'm just happy that I finally got to see so many of my favorite songs live again after so long. Especially estranged. Too bad they put Civil War in a couple of weeks after the show I went to, but not complaining because the interwebs are pretty wonderful to see anything you missed!

Surely the band is going to build on all this pub they are going to receive in the next 3 months, aren't they?? I guess anything is possible, but a new song or two would have so much buzz it is nuts.

Actually what is more annoying are the people that complain about everything and are never happy.

It has been a positive and productive time for GNRs, I don't think anyone who attended a gig can deny this, unfortunately there will always be the people who don't attend concerts that bitch about the setlist or start times.

Always found it interesting/amusing that a few people who have never written a song, never made a record seem to know so much more about what an artist/band "should" be doing more than the artist themselves.

If these pundits know so much, they should be out making their own Albums and leave everyone else alone.

That would require a talent other than the talent to whine about the same thing daily. If you consider that a talent.

Oh I can think of something worse, its people that sound like you.

When all is said and done, unfortunately its not about the band,or the music, its about you and how you "think" things ought to be, and we all know how rarely that intersects with what "is.".

For me, the real highlights of the show I attended were the live performances of civil war and estranged. I was not a fan of the two acdc covers, until hearing them live. I felt they brought more rock energy to the show than lald and heavens door. They give the show a real boost of energy.

And the best CD song live might just be shacklers. Shacklers and This I Love......loved it. Hope they both stay in the set list.

Rosie + Riff Raff are an injection of pure adrenaline into an already electric atmosphere.

Estranged is still fucking georgeous after all these years.
