DR DOOM
Latveria is mostly famous for being the home of DOOM Some other things Latveria is possibly quite well known for are the art of knitting items of clothing out of fecal matter, and being world leaders in hybrid or composite genital advancement. But seriously, probably a bridge
Redhead74
:lol:Whats the difference between Harold Shipman and Gareth Gates? At least Gareth Gates can finish a sentence!Sorry, had to google who the fuck Gareth Gates is/was. Unfortunately, I still don't get the joke. I'm not quite comprehending the link between a fucked up, dead, serial killer and a dodgy talent quest contestant. Please explain. Latveria is mostly famous for being the home of DOOM Some other things Latveria is possibly quite well known for are the art of knitting items of clothing out of fecal matter, and being world leaders in hybrid or composite genital advancement. But seriously, probably a bridge All things to be truly proud of. Especially the bridge.

DieselDaisy
Len, the interesting thing about that whole Get Carter sequence is, Michael Caine effectively runs 15-20 miles, from Newcastle to Cambois, in the space of a couple of minutes. Heck, he crosses over into a different county, Tyne and Wear into Northumberland! It begins on some desolate urban area of Newcastle you see - Caine is chasing the guy who stuck his niece into a porno if you recall. Then the two of them suddenly run out onto Cambois (the pebbled beachy area). That is a 25mins car journey away, followed by a short boat trip across the River Wansbeck if the tide is in!They did not exactly go in for exact topography in those days.Still love the film. You cannot beat Classic Caine films.
Guest Len B'stard
The Man Who Would Be King is really underrated too i think. Sleuth, fuck me, wouldn't think he'd be that comfy alongside Sir Larry but he fuckin' real put his marker down in that film. The Ipcress file, Alfie, fuck me, those films were belters. Alfie i just love to bits. He's brilliant in Hannah & Her Sisters too, he nails the bumbling shy English thing that you often make mention of wonderfully, And of course Zulu and the Italian Job...did you ever catch Harry Brown? It was actually alright y'know, i thought it'd be a load of pants but I was pleasantly suprise.
DieselDaisy
I like Harry Brown. I think it had a lot to say about modern Britain.Do not forget the Harry Palmer films, Iprcess File etc.
Guest Len B'stard
A helluva lot, real shame it didn't get more attention. Nice to see him bash the fuck out of some of these younger generation kids from Kidulthood type movies too My Dad loved it as you can imagine. He saw the original Carter in the cinemas, the lucky so and so. Edited February 17, 2014 by sugaraylen
Amir
First Steak N' Shake is hereHad to Wikipedia that, and I just knew that the first one outside the US would be in Dubai. Any good? If so, may have to visit next time I'm there (or in the US) and cross it off my list of American fast-food/diner chains. Even if it's crap I may have to visit anyway. Guest Len B'stard
A lot of films are made in my area, Harry Potter, one of the Star Warses, Sleepy Hollow...bits of Alfie are filmed around here, where the Hilton Hotel stands now in the 60s used to be a coffee place for mods and what have you. Eastenders is also filmed here, just over in Borehamwood. The Spice Girls were from round here too, Geri's mum used to be a cleaner down the road. Anthony Joshua, Olympic heavyweight champion grew up round the way from me. Edited February 17, 2014 by sugaraylen

Gracii Guns
Wow! I hadn't heard of the guy and just read his rather unsavoury Wikipedia article. I'm stunned! Glad he's gone and not able to bring any harm to you or anyone you know, GG. It is indeed creepy, shocking and rather scary knowing that someone was carrying out such abominable behaviour in that very locale. A bit too close to home really.Hmmm... I've never really been concerned with how local he lived. He wasn't the town's only murderer and the evidence suggests that he did most of his crimes in Manchester. A sample of evidence was taken from one of his patients in my town just to find out if he was committing the murders so early in his career, which apparently he was. So there was at least one local victim, but likely more. The only time when this has been a bit of a disaster since, was a poetry gig in the next town along. One of Britiain's best loved poets read a poem about Harold Shipman, which he had been writing, unaware of the proximity between the two towns was five miles. That got a frosty reception! username
Groningen, The Netherlands Both the city and the province that goes by the same name. Some stuff: The Martini Toren, the second highest and most beautiful church tower in the country: Hooghoudt, one of the largest Dutch producers of many spirits and liquors: More Dutch than Gronings, but... bikes. Everybodies primary mode of transportation. They may carry people, children, people with children, people with goods, people with goods and children who are carrying more goods. Nothing a Dutch person can't carry on his bicycle. This is a mere fraction of the bicycle stands in front of the central trainstation: "Diepen". Singe most of the province was either peatswamp or parts we won back from the sea, the landscape is littered with small canals called "diepen", which were the primary form of transportation for decades. Many were dug for transport of goods, mostly the boats carrying the peat that was dug out. City and province alike are full of them. They're also why most small towns here are very long and narrow, built alongside the canals: Edited February 17, 2014 by username

spunko12345
The worlds most expensive footballer comes from there and so does the footballer who has won more medals than anyone else in the history of English football.
