IncitingChaos
Atleast when Bucket would change a solo it would still sound amazing. When Finck changes his own solos they sound awful! I agree the beginning if better at RAR was incredible though. Best sound I've heard come from his guitar.

Smokin' Cigarettes
Funny thing is in 2017 we'll be saying how great he sounded in 2014. Many fans here praised Axl at the time for his Rock Am Ring Nightrain performance. Fans that were harsh critics said it was great.I went back and read the thread on this concert when the video for nighttrain came out and there were a few that said "lol look at how dead the crowd is" and just a few negatives along the lines of how boring GNR was to fans now. But your right most were positive but if we got a concert like that now this whole website would go nuts. It seemed to be more modest back then. Not as much praise. People just expected Axl to be great.

Nosaj Thing
Funny thing is in 2017 we'll be saying how great he sounded in 2014. None of us really appreciated 2006 until after the fact in retrospect. It's like saying that one day people will say how good he sounded in Rio 2011. When something is terrible, is terrible.2006 was a good year for Axl voice and shape but it has its flaws, like people not liking the cornrows or Bumblefoot 1000-notes-per-second shredding. 2010 was even better but with its flaws as well, Robin left, Ashba mediocre guitar playing, etc. As you can see, those 'flaws' were really small and considered by a very small group of people.Nowadays is completely different. The weakest link is the one most people care about, which is Axl Rose. And there's nothing, but nothing to appreciate in these last few years of touring, other than Axl is not dead.
Smokin' Cigarettes
I was half ass kidding when I made that post but honestly the more I think about it, the more I think it could be a reality. Think about the degression since 2006 to where we are now. If Axl keeps doing this another, let's say 5 years, oh my god that's going to make 2014 look like 1991 or whatever. Aspect ratios can be deceiving sometimes - this might be a stupid test, but I check if the ratio is right by looking at the drummer's kick drum. It should be perfectly round; if it's not, the aspect ratio is off.

Lim666
yes, people, ^^THAT is the "Freezed"-version being a total 1:1 digital stream from high quality DVB-S in 16:9. this version is EXACT what has been on the only tv broadcast since. no re-encoding, no dropped frames, no "recording or authoring trouble" by Freezed or so. this is the best we could have from the broadcast. unless they re-air it in HD or so......this is the ultimate version.add Maddy and OTGM from the fanfilmed angle and you have a sweet gig (without nearly all the boring solos/jams they did back then). northernsoul
This is one old thread I know, just caught up on it watching RaR for the 1000th time The Manchester show on that tour was also shit hot, Axl commented on his manager telling him it was one of his favourite venues. It was a great show, a very late one though. The Download show of course is quite infamous which was the other one I caught on that tour, took a while to get going in part to a fairly hostile crowd. That was the way all weekend though, mad bottle fight waiting for Metallica and a lot of "village" campground burnt down afterwards. The last truly 'edgy' Donington
