Chris1989
It's a decent lead but with 1.5 days (rain adjusted) of play and it should be a great contest.
DieselDaisy
Watched half of this documentary Dies' reccomended me about cricket called Fire Ina Babylon, i say half cuz it was 4am and i was falling asleep and i wanted to give it a proper watch, what i saw was sick though, a bunch of convicts trying to crack West Indian lads skulls with cricket balls Fuckin' brilliant, i didn't know cricket was like that, they basically just fuckin' tried to break peoples bones, cool Thompson and Lille looked liked some proper fuckin' cunts If you watch the rest of that you will see that the windies got their, ehh, revenge - twenty years of revenge. It is something you will be interested in, that documentary - there is a Wailer on it - Muhammad Ali is on there.

Curtly Ambrose was flogging his autobiography on the radio a few weeks ago. Sounded like a good read. Now that was a fearsome pace attack, Walsh and Ambrose. The way he was describing his approach sounded more like a boxer than a cricketer. He said he could see the tiniest twitch or flinch from a batsman and he knew his arse was his. DieselDaisy
I want Ambrose's book. I also noticed Simon Jones has an autobiography out.

DieselDaisy
It emphasises the quicks but the Windies had some superb batsman in those days. The opening partnership of Haynes and Greenidge is up there with Sutcliffe/Hobbes for opening partnerships and then you have Sir Viv coming in at 3. Now, if I could be reincarnated as anyone, I would come back as either Bruce Lee or Viv Richards. Has there been anyone cooler, the chewing gum, the swagger? sturginho
Managed to watch the last half hour of Saturday, good performance by England, but I imagine an Aussie backlash at Lords where the pitch will probably suit them more
sturginho
Clarke wins the toss and decides to bat first, I'm guessing the pitch is a road?
sturginho
From the BBC sport text commentary:I have it on good authority from someone on the inside of the Aussie changing room that Shane Watson reviewed the decision to drop him. He apparently looked bewildered when the decision was upheld.fantastic

DieselDaisy
Yes, big oz total here. Best England can hope for is to have a tremendous day tomorrow and restrict Australia to under 500.
DieselDaisy
It will be over tomorrow, followed on and bowled out in a third day. This is 1990s England this.
DieselDaisy
Oh fuck. That is the Australian version of a nelson, isn't it? 87. I honestly thought if Stokes stayed on longer and Cook gets one of his big figures, England could make up the majority of this deficit. DieselDaisy
Shite weather means I'm wondering whether it is worth it journeying up to the cricket tomorrow, one dayer vs Worcs? Hmm, see the forecast in the morning and make a decision.
sturginho
When I saw the score this morning was 34-3 I though to myself "FFS England!" then I realised that the aussies were batting! It is now 119-9 extraordinary!
DieselDaisy
Bowled out in 30 odd overs. England basically scored the same as the Aussies with 7 wickets remaining. Bit of a shame Bell and Cook went but at least they both got in and scored quickly.
