ZoSoRose
Jesus, how the fuck did you get a job that pays that? Help me I am getting so scared =/And congrats!EDIT- And fly somewhere, go on a trip. DO ITHonestly it's being honest with people.I went into the interview telling myself I wasn't going to get the job. It lessoned the blow because my stress levels subside. I also make sure I looked presentable and wore the proper attire, but most importantly, I told them the truth. I didn't bullshit with anyone.I told them I was fresh out of school with limited to no experience. They asked me if I knew anything about some things, and I wasn't afraid to say no. I was upfront and told them my expectations, and that was basically not to be thrown into the fire. I did tell them though that the more I know, the more I can contribute.I am hoping they understand that. It's my first 'big boy' job and I am more frightened than excited.I'm starting my first full time job (and the first job where I don't work mostly on ym own) next month and I'm a bit nervous too, especially considering that what I will be doing only partially overlaps with what I studied in university.Congratulations by the way!Same boat my man.I'm just as nervous, if not more than you, but we do what we have to do. Best of luck.I ended up getting one of the positions after all! They had more schools open up for the college advising corps. I had 2 scheduled interviews today. After I left, i had a call back for a third since that school didn't like their candidates. I was in a t shirt at this point, and had to sprint back in the rain. I was sweaty and looked like shit, but I guess they saw something in me! Looks like I'm moving to Bay City, Michigan soon!So now my nerves are kicking in, holy shit... I'm psyched though

Gracii Guns
I have just seen the perfect next job for me. I fill all the requirements and can tell I'll be happy working there. The only problem is that it's advertised in a national newspaper so competition is going to be tough. I've never wanted a job so much in my life, though. Will let you all know how it goes.
Gracii Guns
They received my application and have emailed me asking to send through more samples of my work to help the shortlisting process. It's not really news, but at least my covering letter and application form must've met their standards.
AdriftatSea
I've been working as an exec admin although I was my own contractor. They offered me more money and a permanent position. I took the offer. This past Monday was my initial day although I've been there for four months. I wasn't even looking for a job when they called me for this one. I feel so lucky to have it. They didn't give me the title though. They are calling me Sr. Admin which is the same as exec admin. I don't care though. It's more money. The only problem, the woman that I work with has turned into a raving, lunatic bitch. I saw it under the surface all along. It makes for an unpleasant environment. The men like me though. We are moving into a new building in the next three months and I won't have to look at her as much. This will be a big plus. The downside, we both report to the president of the company where I had been reporting to the VP. He adores her. This could hurt me. I guess I will see how it plays out. GivenToFly
I finished my second week of work today. I've had some moments so far when I wished I was back in unemployment but overall it's nice to feel useful and to have a reason to get up in the morning.

Gracii Guns
I've been invited for an interview on Wednesday. It's not a design job, but I have transferable skills. It's for an online menswear shop who want someone to be an all-rounder running the shop. This sounds as though as there will be a lot of putting clothes into parcels and taking them to the Post Office, but they also want someone who can do fashion shoots and marketing, which is where I come in. I have no idea of the salary yet, which doesn't help. But I'm told that there's a lot of potential for promotion, which I don't have at my current job. It could be my ticket into fashion though, which would be ace.

Gracii Guns
How did the interview go Morris?I found out on Monday that I didn't get the job.To fill anyone in on my job hunting saga, I've been looking for a new job in York for a year, so I could live closer to my fiancé and family. I do enjoy my current job so haven't really wanted to leave. Six months ago I asked if they'd consider me working from home a few days a week, as a 120 mile round trip daily destroy me. This would also benefit my employer by feeing up some much-needed office space. They said no. I got sick of my entire life depending on finding a job, so I moved and am doing the commute every day. This morning I found out that my line manager is moving to Ibiza(!) and is working from there, whilst flying over to the office once every six weeks for deadline week. I've been fuming all day. They don't let me work 60 miles away for one or two days a week, yet five out of six weeks someone with (theoretically) more responsibility is allowed to be in fucking Ibiza! Lio
That's so unfait, Gracii I hate when that happens. Couldn't you take the opportunity to explain to your boss that you have to commute 120 miles every day and that you see that the company's policy on working from home has changed ? I know in one of my previous workplaces it was like that. One coworker had been begging for years to work from home, but it was never possible, until they changed policy and now they're almost all working from home. I think it's worth a try, since you do like this job and it is difficult to find another one.
Gracii Guns
Cheers Lio. I'm going to give it a few days for them to give me more details on her move. If they don't, I'll ask for what the plan was, and then suggest that I could also perhaps work from home too. My line manager moving has a massive impact on my work. So keeping her plans private from me makes feel quite undervalued. The bosses know that she's been slacking recently and I've been doing much of her job for her over the last month. I enjoy it, but this is really the last straw and I don't want to give so much of my life to people who don't care. Thanks for reading my little rant, it's difficult moaning about work, as I know I'm really fortunate to have an interesting job, but this opportunity has helped. Going to spend the rest of this evening looking for vacancies.
