How much is truly in the Vault?

Recommended Posts

if it was good it'd be released none of the guns separate are any where close to what they were all together

I think if somehow Axl puts out another album with 14 tunes 5 of which are really good at that point the Chinese sessions seem worth it.... You could have had a double album that would have been awesome..

I can see a box set in 15 years.. CD1 with 3 choices of art. Cd2 .. Remix album.. Show blue ray

So the guy has released one album of his music in along time. He's a musician who has a lot of time on his hands when he's not touring. How much material/ideas/and songs do you think Axl really has hoarded? Or does he not have shit other then Afew leftover Chinese songs and tons of instrumental shit from the sessions?

I think this guy has loads of shit hoarded.. Believe in the Trilogy I must.. I hope he recorded loads of vocals during all those sessions and there's tons of killer vocal takes we are yet to hear.. Remix TIL gives me strong hope! I wonder what else he recorded with those vocals why wouldn't he! Even if next album is subpar songs, it could be awesome with Great Axl vocals.

For some reason I don't think Axl has done a lot of work on new music since 2008. He might be continuously tinkering on some song sketches but I doubt he has like composed a shitload of songs these last years. He comes off as a sort of meticulous, slow writer (like with November Rain and This I Love). The question is how much did he get done before 2008. We have many quotes on him being a hard-worker when in the studio, but still I believe he is much of a perfectionist so although he might be putting in lots of hours when he is in the zone it might not really result in that much ready music.

That being said, we do know that these songs exist in various stages of completion: The General (supposed to come out on the third album and described as one of three unreleased A-listed songs), Quick Song, Zodiac, Thyme, Ides of March, Atlas Shrugged, Down by the Ocean, Seven (another of the A-listed songs), Berlin (aka Oklahoma), Jackie Chan (aka Checkmate), Silkworms, Leave me Alone (the last of the A-listed songs), Soul Monster and Goin' Down. That's 14 songs although some of them may be different names for the same songs. Still, it is more or less a full record. And there are probably old songs we haven't heard of before, like with Goin' Down until just recently. That's almost as enticing, knowing there are perhaps songs completely finished just waiting. So who knows how many "almost finished" songs exist from the CD sessions? Perhaps much more than this. And then we have riffs, sketches, melodies, etc that may be turned into complete songs. I suppose there are endless DATs of such things.

In addition we have the remixes Brain has been working on. This is supposedly a record of songs more or less ready to go.

Lastly we have new songs the band may have worked on. We know many of the band members have worked on new music, alone or in small groups. I doubt Axl has recorded any vocals to any of this, but I wouldn't be surprised if there an album worth of songs in partial stages of completion.

When can new music be released? Dj admitted earlier today they don't have anything ready for the shelves right now, but I suppose if Axl takes a year now to work on the songs from the CD sessions they might have a finished record in a year. I highly doubt it can be finished earlier, but this is just conjecture from my part. In a not so good scenario Axl will need lots more time. And then comes the process of actually getting it out, which can take years...

those are confirmed I the the said A-list songs? If So then the izzy song is an A list in Axls mind that's intriguing.

Here's the quote that I believe is the root of the "A-list songs":

"Leave Me Alone," "Seven," and "The General" could also feature on the new album. These three A-listed songs were worked on by Marco Beltrami, especially "Seven," which Marco deems as the best of the three songs. It has also been reported that Marco worked on a fourth track, "Thyme." However, this song was not worked on subsequent to Marco's work in October 2002. (Jeff Leeds, Sp1at website, 06/05)

Nice Very cool that he gives his take on seven being the best.. Anyone else ever give a description on seven?

Oops! 'Soul Monster' = 'Leave Me Alone'. I forgot about that.

As for Seven, yeah, Brain wrote this when I asked him about the song some years ago:

ITS AN TIMELESS BALLAD WITH A BLOW YOUR FACE OFF CHORUS AND A SUCK YOUR BALL SACK BRIDGE!!!!!

hundreds of buckethead instrumentals, dozens of chinese leftovers, a few of them almost finished. Some current band song ideas, ashba shit and axl's bits and pieces of songs that he's wrote over the years.

This forum has hundreds of people, and each one of us knows hundreds more. Can't we put together a team of specialists that can break unto axl's vault, steal everything and demand that he releases the stuff we stole or else we leak it ?

Axl probably put in a cage with his pet Tiger.

That's when Operation DJ Ashbait kicks in.

We always knew that reaching the vault wouldn't come without some sacrifices #RIP™

In the vault you will find:

- The Ark Of The Covenant (transferred there from the warehouse they put it at the end of Indiana Jones)

- Axl's plan to build a Death Star that can destroy everybody who wears a Slash tshirt with it's mighty lasers

- The location of the Fountain Of Youth (not that Axl ever went there though)

- The location of Atlantis as well as The Hall Of Records of the Atlantians (where Axl was a great priest in a past life)

- Aliens from Roswell and the UFO captured and then researched at Area 51

- The source code of The Matrix (in which Axl will sound like 1988 again)

- A picture of Slash with a heart drawn on it

- Conclusive evidence that the answer to life the universe and everything is actually 43.

Cage is such a sweet Gn'R fan. Love the guy. Didn't know he was onboard until he talked about Chinese and how great he thought it was.

I like it that Axl seemed to recognize how much he loves the band and was a fan from the start and gave him the chance to be a small part of it. That's cool.

Seems there are actually a decent amount if Chinese fans out there.. Didn't Metallica claim they liked the album? Seems when it came out the "cool thing" was to hate on it because it took forever now no one cares so they just listen to the music.. I hope that's how people look at the next album atleast.

Duff said he thought it was amazing or something when it came out. Billy Corgan is a fan too. Both James and Lars had good things to say about Chinese. Gilby is not a fan. Slash was positive about it when it came out.

Pretty well recieved by critics and famous people that heard it.

Going on from what I've read about the unreleased material over the years it's safe to assume there is in fact another album worth of Chinese songs, though I expect most -not all- to be in demo stage or not up to par with what has been released. It is also safe to presume that there are Buckethead heavy songs (let's hope so). What has to be immense is the different takes for every song as material got replayed over and over (as told by drummer Brain recalling he had to copy complete drum takes in full detail for months just to get a different sound). If I remember correctly there's an interview with composer Beltrami who said he worked on more songs than what got released on Chinese Democracy, which is very promising as I liked the orchestral parts a lot.

I don't care if he releases the ChiDem leftovers but we do know from interviews that basically every show from the UYI tour was recorded and videoed. There is also the 87 Marquee and UYI documentaries sitting collecting dust somewhere.

Also Marc Cnater has said in posts he is hoping to do a box set of his audio and video recordings someday so there seems to be a decent amount of the old bands live material that could be released someday........

Wonder if Axl is hoarding all that stuff just incase he ever says fuck it lets make some real money and do a one off reunion tour. Could release some badass concert box sets with the doc in it while they go on a world tour and watch the hard working kids money come Rollin in
