Mr. Dude
Who else can make inciting a riot cool.Really, I always though he was acting like a complete pratt when doing the whole riot thing.Admittedly, the whole riot, being late, no-showing thing is an appeal to me. There is something magnetic and captivating about that level of defiance.Only when you were 16 though. There is nothing magnetic and captivating about a man in his 50s pulling the same stuff he did in his early-late 20sNo, its even more appealing at this point. Its even more defiant. BetterDay7
Some famous people figure out how to blend into the crowd. You really wouldn't know about it. I reckon that could be true of Axl. Even Gilby did not recognise him at some gig he was playing at (admittedly some years ago.).I would think that most people, in the wider world, I mean, still think of Axl Rose as looking like the Axl of the 80s. Magnetic, and captivating, indeed. If I could pick any show to retroactively attend- the riots and no-shows would certainly rank up there. I'd rather be in attendance for St Louis 91 than Ritz 88 anyday. Its not a wasted night- its an experience...and its also a cool story to tell junkie hookers. You want your shows to end up as riots; you want CD2 to actually be delayed; you are the very definition of a sado-masochist. Make sure you dodge Duff's bass as it flies towards your head while you are at it.

I don't see you desiring to have been at the Vancouver no show in 2002. Trust me that was fucking lame as hell. There was nothing "cool" or captivating or magnetic about that. It was flat out bullshit antics by a diva who didn't give a flying fuck about any of his fans. It pissed me off because I drove 12 hours through the mountains in the winter, booked a hotel for 3 nights then drove 12 hours home. Yeah real fucking cool. I'm so glad that he no showed. It was sooooo captivating and magentic.
Mr. Dude
If I knew Vancouver 02 would've went down the way it did I'd have gotten a passport, bought plane tix, and paid for front row seats. Sometimes the most rock n roll thing is no rock n roll. I thought it was a great way for Axl to kick off his comeback tour. DieselDaisy
I do have one, marginal, experience of this sort of thing when I saw Guns at Newcastle in 2006. Good show up until the end, during Nightrain, when a coin was thrown on stage. Axl stormed off. There was some sort of PA announcement. Axl resumed Nightrain. End of show, i.e. no Paradise City. All I can say is the feeling when the lights came on and the crowd shuffled out was very, flat. It felt like we had been at a funeral. Very odd feeling after, essentially seeing an excellent, 90% completed show. It was just silence as everyone left.
IncitingChaos
You guys are good at taking one thing to an extreme. Not every show was a riot, not every show was canceled but it did happen. What also happened were some of the greatest shows in rock history, you get Axl in a package, he is by no means perfect but he is captivating and interesting. All the good and all the bad make up Axl Rose, you guys want to hate him or love him.

Would you honestly pay good money and time to go to this, presumably bore fest followed by a bunch of idiots. I mean if you want to see idiots smash up a town centre, I can point you in the direction of a few football derbies. ''Rock n' roll dude''. tinyrobot
This might seem like a bit of a silly, superficial and shallow topic, hehe...... but bear with me here. What do we know here?1) This guy has a wealth people on this board can only dream of. With that wealth comes the opportunity to do whatever he wants in life. This is a luxury not many people in society will ever have.He could travel the world, enjoying unimaginable luxuries if he wanted to. Nothing is out of reach. 2) Axl is one of the most famous guys on the planet. If he is out and about, we tend to know about it. BUT we very rarely hear about him out socialising, doing things, etc. So despite the opportunities mentioned in point one, above - he chooses not to enjoy them.3) With a wealth on his scale, Axl doesn't have to bother with the boring crap we all need to do on a daily basis - travel to work, household chores, etc. 4) He has no kids or partner - so this doesn't occupy his time.5) He has released, what - 15 original songs since 1991. That's 24 years. So we can't claim he works a lot from one day to the next. So, bearing all that in mind, what the fuck is he actually doing? There is a caricature image of him as some reclusive loner, skulking around alone in his deserted mansion in the middle of the night. Is this accurate? Is he some fat slob sitting in his unwashed underwear in front of the TV, watching boxed sets of Dexter on repeat? This guy that we all look up to - this legendary rock star - is this what he has become? I don't know. I find this hard to believe. So that begs the question - what does the guy do all day???This is funny because these are the kind of questions non-millionaire people wonder about millionaires and it sorts of expose them. There's a whole world made for millionaire and billionaires that none of us can even imagine and end up thinking Axl has this boring life in his mansion. Last year (and won't explain under what circumstances) I found out there are thousands of places around the world that are like "escapes" for the rich and famous.Resorts, private clubs, private islands, exclusive hotels, even castles!! where you can go only if you belong to the selected cast of the wealth. These places are not advertised in your regular newspaper or TV channel. These kind of places operate only among the rich and famous. They don't allow journalists, papparazzis and offer the celebrities and wealthy people all warrants of a peaceful stay. They work hard to keep their millionaire clients satisfied. You don't see Axl in mags and pictures because he's not out there mixing himself with the Z-list reality shows "celebs" or mortals like us. Once in a while he goes out to the "normal" places and they get a pic but most of the times, he could be at the Tibet right now and you wouldn't know. He has enough money to access these priviledge places none of us will ever get to find out. It's useless and a bit sad to picture him as a disgraceful, lonely and reclusive guy just because our worlds are small and limited, and we don't know any better than watching tv and eating burgers.
