ZAKK WYLDE Remembers Jamming With GUNS N' ROSES: 'It Was A Good Time'

Its funny to me that people would accept Miles Kennedy, Gilby Clark, and Matt sorum performing at GnR's induction, but not Axl's GnR.

Gilby and Matt were part of an amazing era of the band. Why exclude them?

Gilby was a hired gun. Matt plays on uyi but didn't write anything.

Gilby wasn't inducted. Gilby was invited to jam with the other guys. Let's not forget that Gilby helped the band when Izzy left them all hanging.

And a little fact for the ignorants: Duff asked Myles to perform at the HOF, not Slash.

It would have flushed everything Axl had been fighting for down the toilet. I can't believe anyone who had been paying attention could have actually entertained the idea that they might reunite.

I agree on the reunion part. I don't know why people continue to discuss whether they would have reunited or not. It's never gonna happen. However, what has Axl been working on all these years? Becoming a casino cover band?

Yea after Slash said, "geez Duff, if we could find a singer that I'm familiar with than I'm sure we can still perform..any ideas buddy?...who's that one guy Kyles Lemmony...no that's not it."

Duff- "Myles Kennedy?"

Slash- "oh I didn't think of that, great idea Duff!!"

It didn't happen that way. You can easily find the interview where Duff tells the story.

The worst things about the Rock Hall is the decision on what lineup to induct, and how some bands never "make the cut" and it drives their fanbases crazy. We pretty much knew as soon as they announced which members in GNR were being inducted, that Axl wasn't going to show up.

They inducted the right members of Guns N' Roses.

Its scary though how much people just want things to be a certain way, right? I'm glad you kept pointing out how it actually happened.

I don't think that it matters who asked who. The whole thing was a joke. The performance was awful, as well.

Myles did well at the HOF all things considered. The worst you can say is he isn't Axl.

Yes. The worst I can say is that he's not Axl, which is the real deal, doesn't have a horrid timbre, versatile and not generic as shit.

But yeah, good performance at the HOF by Myles. Very... professional. You can get used to pretty much anything, and I got used to Myles.

When I listen to Myles with Slash, I imagine myself as that movie where an inmate is cornered by a very polite and big african american man that explains to him he is gonna suck his cock now.

"but I'm not gay"

"I know, that doesn't matter. easy way or hard way?"

and then months later they're a couple and spooning in a shared cell. I don't want to, but I must.

you're settling for mediocre?

wow... there are so many other good bands and singers you could enjoy!

I hate Myles Kennedy and will never listen to his singing even if he was the last music to be heard on earth.

Nah. I listen to better music. It's just that only Slash can really sound like Slash and so, I follow his music for the riffs, solos, and melodies he composes cause I love Slash. Myles is just background noise. I prefer him in AB. Blackbird was cool.

Good to know.

Not willing to make that sacrifice to hear Slash.... he should release guitar solo records.

But he probably won't. I guess I'm just a hardcore Slash fan, even if the songs are not really good. I just treat it like cool instrumental guitar ideas that I can enjoy.

Just out of curiosity, and I'm sure its been asked before, but who would you have had sing for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame gig? We know from the beginning Axl's not gonna show up, but let's say you have that last week when he officially says he's not coming. Who do you get? The rest of the GNR guys were obviously gonna play, and having Axl be the reason they don't would have been ridiculous. It was their honor too, and just cause Axl couldn't show up to make it great doesn't mean he has to ruin the good time Slash, Duff, Matt and Gilby have playing together.

So who do you get? Sebastian (who probably wouldn't do it anyway cause of his "close" ties to Axl)? See thats why I give Myles so much credit. I get that you don't have to like him and I get that people think he's generic. But he didn't even want to do it, basically took himself out of the equation, and at the last minute stepped in because the other guys didn't want Axl ruining their ability to play. To me, thats why even if he sounded like shit (which he didn't) I give him so much respect for doing it. He doesn't want that position, but he's doing it so those guys can play together, and in effect so people like myself and others that want to see real GNR (even if its not with Axl) the chance to see these guys kick ass.

Honestly, for that reason, I'm surprised Myles isn't heralded for stepping in. But I'm still open to who else you get to sing.

You're looking for mature objectivity...you won't find that among some of the posters on this thread.

Not a fan of the man but I agree with you.

But when the original members quit the band...

Yeah, Myles does not sound good on Gn'R songs, but he did a great job. Axl and his utter shit voice would have embarrassed the whole thing. Glad he didn't show up.

Outside of this forum he was.

But there are 3-4 people here who automatically hate anything Slash is associated with. To be honest, their constant negativity about Slash really just proves to the rest of the world that they are true, die-hard Axl Rose fans. Bigger fans than you and I. :headbang::headbang::headbang:
