GUNS N' ROSES TO PLAY COACHELLA APRIL 2016 - CONFIRMED!

Recommended Posts

So we know that Slash, Duff and Frank are involved.

Why keep the rest of the lineup a secret? What positive purpose does that serve?

And how long will they wait to announce it? The cat is out of the bag. Slash and Duff have acknowledged they are part of it. How long till they release the rest of the names?

I think it has something to do with the possibility of the Coachella lineup being different than whatever the touring lineup is supposed to be.

Good point. Coachella would pay crazy money to bribe Axl into playing with Steven (and Izzy). The festival would love to claim the only night of the original five reunited.

As epic as it would be to see the first show, fuck going to Coachella. It'll be streamed, that's good enough for me.

Fingers crossed. Last year Jack White headlined the Saturdays and we fortunately got AXS tv covering the second weekend. Nothing from the slot the first weekend. That would suck for this.

The festival looks absolutely nothing like the big rock festivals we have here in Europe like Rock am Ring or Roskilde - but from the lineup (and prices) it seems to be a big temporary theme park with lots of very mainstream pop music and presumably that kind of audience!?!.....

For almost 15 years, that type of rock dominated the US festival scene between Lolla, Warped and Ozzfest.

Around the time Ozzfest was dying out and the revived traveling Lollapalooza lost money, multi-day destination camping festivals like Bonnaroo and Coachella started to gain popularity. Bonnaroo was born out of jam band culture, appealing to fans of Phish, Dave Matthews and the Dead. Coachella was a little more mainstream, and embraced harder stuff like Nine Inch Nails, Tool and Rage Against the Machine before Bonnaroo did. Now a days, indie rock, hip hop and edm dominate the undercard while the headliners can be anything from Top 40 to classic rock. Roo and Coachella really pride themselves on eclectic, far reaching lineups.

US promoters long considered American hard rock/metal fans too risky for camping festivals. It's gradually starting to catch on with events like Rock on the Range, but the jam/indie scene dominates US rock festivals.

All I know is Axl Rose better bring it.

If he's not physically in shape and capable of at least 2010 vocals, this whole thing will fall on its face.

Talk about pressure. He's gotta feel some

I wonder what specifically Trunk heard in September 2014 that a reunion was being put into motion? DJ didn't officially quit until the following July but maybe Axl was considering dumping him before that?

http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?/topic/209188-eddie-trunk-a-gnr-reunion-has-been-put-to-motion/

Funny looking back on responses, including my own:

"I want to call bullshit, but then again I thought the whole Duff in South America thing was bullshit up until the 1st of April.

Still, I think this is highly unlikely."

I'd also like to reiterate that this thread needs to be unlocked: http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?/topic/9190-pleas-go-to-mexico/

¿Dónde estás Luiz?

#BringBackLuiz

That thread was legendary.

Someone on an Irish music forum said guns are due to play the Aviva stadium in Dublin late August/ early September

Apr-coachella

June/july- US/Canadian shows

August/September- Europe including Leeds and reading festivals

if axl is having trouble with his vocals i hope he has a voice filter on his microphone to create fake rasp

That would never happen. He would rather pull another bridge school performance than have his vocals altered live.

No way man. He clearly uses a vocal effect live when he sings chinese democracy.I've watched a youtube vid where the effect drops out.

I think it was Rio 11

It's Rio 11.

It's an effect being controlled at front of house. Just listen to it.

Official press release ....

Upholding a three-decade tradition of breaking ground, creating trends, and forever changing the face of rock ‘n’ roll, Guns N’ Roses announce the most significant and anxiously awaited musical event of this century. Founder Axl Rose and former members Slash and Duff McKagan will regroup to headline the Coachella Music & Arts Festival (April 15-17 & April 22-24)—as announced last night!

For months, critics and audiences alike have generated immense excitement and speculation over the possible regrouping of the iconic line-up. The April performances will mark the first time since 1993 the Gunners will share the stage for what is certain to be an explosive event. For more information please visit www.gunsnroses.com.

Following the group’s 1985 formation, Guns N’ Roses injected unbridled, unrivaled, and unstoppable attitude into the burgeoning Los Angeles rock scene. The spirit went on to captivate the entire world with the release of their 1987 debut ‘Appetite for Destruction’ –the best-selling U.S. debut ever, moving 30 million copies globally. In 1991, the seven-time platinum ‘Use Your Illusion I’ and ‘Use Your Illusion II’ occupied the top two spots of the Billboard Top 200 upon release. Over the course of the past decade, Guns N’ Roses have performed sold out shows and headlined festivals worldwide following the critically acclaimed release of 2008’s RIAA platinum-certified ‘Chinese Democracy.’ Six studio albums later, Guns N’ Roses are one of the most important and influential acts in music history and continue to set the benchmark for live performances connecting with millions of fans across the globe.

Finally something however it lacks substance.

It's very void of real substance, but it is a confirmation from Coachella. At this point, Axl knows this is out there. GNR management knows this is out there. It's from an official source, the festival itself. Axl probably ready it and signed off himself. If Slash and/or Duff isn't there -- and never was involved or Axl denies everything closer to the date -- Axl is leaving himself and Guns N' Roses vulnerable to a lawsuit from any pissed-off fan who pays money thinking Slash/Duff are involved. Axl is negligent, in that scenario.

My opinion of the scarce details: Axl, Slash and Duff haven't locked in Izzy and are undecided on drummer.
