He hasn't talked much about the CD songs and its meanings, all we know is that Steph, Erin, Slash and the media have inspired him to write those songs. How do we know there are songs on CD that are about Erin? 3 hours ago, Padme said: TIL was written and recorded in Paris in 1992. So it wasn't about Slash. My guess has always been the song is about Erin. But Axl might have made changes to the song before the final version we have on CD. Axl was never 100% clear as far as I know I always thought this was about Stephanie because it coincides with the date of their split. Why do you think it is about Erin?

Stephanie joined Axl in Brazil during the band's first South American Tour. That took place in December 1992

Then Steph and Axl had some kind of huge fight at a Christmas party at Axl's house and shortly after they split. TIL was written before that. Remember he was so pissed off at Warren Beatty? The woman was already showing signs she liked older men and was going to end up marrying one of those. Axl may have started to write This I Love as part of that process. What we don't know is the lyrics to the TIL we know are the same that were written back then or if what was written back then was a complete song or just the music. 12 minutes ago, Frey said: Yeah, Steph (and Dylan) were with Axl in South America. I mean, it could be, Axl is so fucked up I'm sure he would still be thinking of both Erin and Steph as far as to 2008 even when both women were having offspring with other men

Popular Post KeyserSoze
Alright, I'm still on the road home, but i have time to write, so what the hell! Yesterday was amazing. We arrived to our hotel and immediately went down to the stadium to see what was up. I desperately wanted to get one of the lithos for the show, which i did! #377 of 400. My only complaint was that this specific litho for this show is smaller then say the Detroit one, but was the same price. Luckily the merch truck was on the opposite side of the stadium from the stage, and quite literally as soon as we got there we could hear some of soundcheck. Out Ta Get Me and My Michelle were only half sound checked and i assume with Adler. But oh man, it was fucking insane to be one of the only people out there getting to hear Sorry. The first time they played it i was fucking astonished. Some people next to me were talking amongst themselves about how this must be a new song or something... Right. By the third time they played it, my brain kicked in and figured i had to get a video for all you guys to enjoy it as well! Walking through Nashville was insane. Ive never seen so many people crazed over a band! Every other person had a GNR-themed outfit/shirt. I even saw a Sixx:A.M. Shirt!! I didn't even know they made those!! Even our waiter at the hard rock was going!! There was so many people in the stadium though. I don't know if it was Stapleton or the fact that it was a Saturday night, but it was PACKED. Stapleton's show was good, even though I'm no country fan. And as i said before, the guitar bits were what kept me interested. He got a big ass ovation from the audience when he played whatever that song was about Tennessee Whiskey. All in all, he was good and seemed very thankful to be playing on that big of a stage and too that many people. Before i get into Guns, i saw alot of yall were having trouble with Periscopes last night. The wi-fi was terrible. Absolute garbage. I had been on it previously due to my uploading the Sorry video earlier in the day, so i had a head start on the huge crowd of people who all probably tried to get on it at the same time! Most of my friends kept getting kicked off of it, or kept getting told that it wasn't available. One man in front of us who came down from Illinois had an Android and couldn't even get a signal. Anyways, were GNR 5 minutes late? I hadn't seen them post an itinerary picture for the day, so i didn't know if they pushed it back to 9:30 with it being a Saturday. But damn, as soon as that bullet went into the chamber the place EXPLODED. I think Duffs bass may have not been turned up when they started because the intro stopped and there was a good 20-30 seconds of confusion. We saw them all on the stage, but nothing was playing. Easy and Brownstone were flawless as always. Everyone in my section was confused as hell for Chinese Democracy but hey whats new! I think most people in the audience were digging it by the end though. The crowd went ape fucking shit for jungle probably the loudest pop of the night besides SCOM. One of the biggest things i had been waiting to see was DTJ. I fucking love that song and it was literally everything i imagined it to be live. With Axl at the end adding "This is a song we wrote about the record industry" hmmm. Sadly, halfway through Estranged most of my section was sitting. I thought Axl kicked ass though. And you could defiantly tell Slash rejuvenated the absolute hell out of what Bumble would play. YCBM was FLAWLESSSS. Probably the best one of this tour so far. Everyone really got into that song for sure. By TIL, pretty much everyone in my section was sitting again. But my god, slashes solo was beautiful. Absolutely incredible. Everyone rose again for Civil War, which was hard man! That song is so good when it kicks in. Everyone was sitting again through Coma. One guy in front of me even said "how long is this song?" I told him that its almost 11 minutes on the album and he went wide eyed, shook his head and took a sip from his beer then proceeded to ask me what was the next song. I thought Axl was a little off on the last part of Coma, but they may only be me though. The stadium literally exploded for SCOM which is hilarious because most people in my section were still sitting during slashes guitar solo. I thought the pop from SCOM was loud, but when Axl introduced Steven, man i guarantee you could have picked up that thunderous noise on an earthquake scale. Steven gives that extra oomph to the AFD songs. They are more groovier and just sound better in my honest opinion. Its so awesome to see him smiling and enjoying this, and i seriously hope he gets to play more, or they do an AFD play through on one of the more sold out shows. Steven really deserves it. Speaking of that, its really awesome to see Slash, Duff and Axl all having fun on this tour. I think thats what its really about for them, just having fun and enjoying the music they wrote together. My one complaint is KOHD. This hybrid version of it is really just a mood killer. Especially after NR. It felt like it was 10 YEARS long. They really need to revamp it and give it that loud ass guitar like the 90s. Because it honestly just feels like a really sad slow jam. And most casual fans that go to the show know the album version. It still sounded good and i was rocking out though! Speaking of NR, during the outro part, i think i started crying a bit! I think it was the moment that maybe got to me! All in all though it was a fucking amazing night and i can't wait to do it again in Orlando if i can get the tickets, but if not, ill see you guys in New Orleans in 21 days!

Blackstar
I agree with @killuridols. I think Axl has said that TIL is about Stephanie and Dylan. Besides, it doesn't make sense for a song like this to have been written about Erin. Not only because in 1992 he was fully into another relationship and its problems, but also because the lyrics of the songs he wrote about Erin were different, they were more "aggressive" and not self-pitiful like TIL.
