Hot in the Shade had fantastic production, can't imagine there'd be any major differences between Stanley and Clink

wasnt hot in the shade 1989 or 1990 or something?

the paul stanley thing with GNR was in 1986

by then, if i am not mistaken, kiss was all about keyboards and cheesy sound, wasnt it?

===

anyway, i just remembered how great and terrific paul stanley sounds on his 1989 solo tour -- keyboard and all

this shit rocks and the whole thing sounds at least 18 thousand times better than kiss has ever sounded!

Lol. Wasn't thinking along those lines but perhaps he may have tried to steer it towards a more pop, radio friendly direction...being Paul Stanley and all.

It is pretty pop though anyway isn't it?  Catchy choruses and hooks, one of the highest charttopping albums of its day, any poppier would just mean like, i dunno, making em play like a New Wave band or something?

How different would AFD have been if Paul Stanley had produced it?

Sometimes I wonder what the album would have sounded like if Stanley had been at the wheel in the studio.

Imagine this: Beta making an announcement tomorrow: "For the 30th anniversary of AFD, it will be remixed and remastered from Paul Stanley . Available exclusively at your local Best Buy on January 1st"

If Paul Stanley produced it, we would have some inane chatter as intros to songs.

I was talking to somebody backstage before, and he said there's a lot of you people that like to drink vodka and orange juice.

'I know it's hot. I know everybody's got ROCK AND ROLL PNEUMONIA!!!'

Now, CA-MOUN . . . I KNOW you can do better'nat . . . so we gonna try it again .. and I want y'all to catch your breath . . . 'cause here it COMES . . . I SAID ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hyperbole. Have you never heard of Are You Experienced??

The word greatest is always going to be an opinion piece. He may think Appetite is and you may feel Are You Experienced is. There is no right answer. Now, if we're talking influential, you would definitely have a solid, inarguable point.

I agree but the above comment (''The greatest debut rock album album of all time'') was stated as objective fact.

Then if sales is your criteria for 'greatest' we can solve this debate instantly.

All proclaim The Eagles' Hits and Jacko's Thriller!

Well quality of material is in the eye of the beholder. But if Webb wilder sells a hundred records versus the Rolling Stones selling millions, idk that might be telling as to which band would be a bigger draw and what a majority feel are better quality.
