Looks like somebody didn't want to miss the opportunity to eat up the whole turkey.

I could be wrong. But I always had the impression that he didn't miss previous gatherings. Only that this time are lucky to have a picture

A new Axl interview:

Courtesy of @GoForJMark

Good luck reading....I read it....nothing about new music and lots about formula 1. The only intersting tidbit is when he says that when people thought he wasn't doing much he spent a lot of time in Vegas not partying or gambling just walking during the night through the city watching people.

Well well well, it’s not everyday Axl would give an interview

The trainer has the full instagram story. I was catching all of the other accounts, neither has the big 3, but all of them went to the dinner. It was the entire crew, which was very nice

The trainer shall be getting the sack soon then

They left HK then - no CD 10th anniversary show?  really though, people thought Axl would do that, didn’t they?

Ok here I give you information for those who have never been in Vegas. I have been there many times. Unlike Axl, I was parting and gambling :smiley-confused2:

In Summer, during the day it is impossible to be walking around because the heat in unberable. So you have no choice but to walk around at night. But there is always a sea of people walking around at night. Yet Axl walking around watching people? I'm shocked

During Spring, Fall and Winter it is ok to walk or drive around during the day as well as night.

All the hotels also have many attractions other than showgirls and casinos

Been there once, in the break of the summer day was so unbearable and kind of boring we rather went to a desert trip (Valley of Fire, I haven't seen desert more red and yellow with bluer skies above). No partying and gambling for me, it was a stop on a long, rather low budget trip. I felt kind of uncomfortable on The Strip in the evening because it was just... weird. City thick of lights and smells head goes round. Tourists, sellers of anything an everything, performers, attention seekers, freaks of all kinds... . All the people, mess and noise, but I can easily imagine that even someone with boldness of Axl Rose just blends in. It's Vegas, you can be anything and no one cares. I think he has this hobby of walking the streets and observing since at least teenage years. He's one hell of an observer (watch, like, China Exchange).

Still, I can imagine that as soon as I would get comfortable with city oddities and found some working observer strategy, I would enjoy its vibe and plain people observing, it's my hobby, too, after all.

I love how Axl loves Freddie! Not a deep cut, but nice and cozy interview.

I don't get what are your point? It was something that Axl says, I found interesting...and put here.

Axl seems to like privacy. He is far from being an attention whore. It is headscratcher for me that he would enjoy walking around Vegas. I just thought he would enjoy other kind of places during tour breaks

If you know how to, you can be really private and pass unattended in crowd, especially in a place where many people crave for attention - even more than in remote, little visited space or some celebrity haven. Also, busy place offers thoughts and observations food.

*edit

It seems to me he is talking about what he did around this time:

Well I just read the whole thing in another thread. He loves to play in New York. He is a big Formula 1 fan. He wants to write soundtacks for movies. He has been listening to Pirates Of the Caribeean soundtrack

I guess that confirms we're not having any new album. Unless it's some fucking movie soundtrack :max:

I don't know when did they do that interview, I have not read it in full yet, but for what you guys are saying some of those answers are really old. Especially the part about Vegas, he's already said that in 2012, if I'm not mistaken. I'll look for that piece....

But I don't understand how walking around Vegas at night is doing anything productive for his career :shrugs:.... It is a good thing for his mental health, to refresh your mind and maybe talk to strangers but when it comes to music, that equals to doing nothing.... Did he write while he was in Vegas?

Im sorry but all that time wasted is never coming back and whether he produced material or not, I don't see it, so for me it's more of the same bullshit: a chronicle of how Axl lost the best years of his life.

I just did.

Most of his answers are things we already knew. Or at least, I knew.

This is the interview from 2012 when he mentioned this Vegas thing. It's almost the same answer:

If the Vegas residency works out, Rose might consider a sequel, he says. During his reclusive years before the release of Chinese, "I spent a lot of time in Vegas and didn't get bothered. I wasn't gambling or partying at the time. I'd go walking at night, just watching people. I was out more than people thought."

Divorced and unattached, Rose says the Vegas stint could prove risky.

"I've been married in Vegas before," to model Erin Everly in 1990, he says. "This could be my demise."

Thank you, at least is consistent, right?

I believe is a new interview....in the next page is an interview with the event's organizer....it could be a courtesy gesture, nothing harm in the thing....

Thanks for that USToday interview..is new to me.....when you read that is nothing short of a miracle that Slash and him are in good terms again.....

Yeah, it is. I just said that his answers are old and most of the info are things well known to the die-hards. Probably the big audience doesn't know any of it so it's a cool interview for them.

I think we will see Axl and Slash in the F1 this Sunday, if we are lucky to have people taking a pic or video for us  :smiley-confused2: :P

I remember that 2012 interview. They were promoting their Vegas residency. Axl said he like the city. And he also mentioned he got married there. I found it odd at that time that he would mention his wedding. But I don't remember him saying anything about walking around watching people.

I don't think he wrote anything while in Vegas. But if he did. Chances are it's a movie soundtrack. That's what he cares about these days

I posted the excerpt above, check it out ^^

Not sure how much he cares about the soundtrack stuff. He talks too much but he hasn't delivered any new music, neither GN'R or movie soundtracks

Axl always has been a talker without action. Do you all remember the interview when he had the skeleton jacket on. He talked about a movie, too and lots of stuff he wanted to do but never happened. He’s full of creative ideas but for some reasons is not able to bring them on ...

I dont know how he could ever get into movie soundtracks..... Those projects have DEADLINES and you have to work hard to deliver.

There's no room for much tinkering, perfectionism, bullshitting around....... And he's mentioned this shit for so long, like 10 years ago and now he talks he'd like to do that "in the future"----

Future when, Axl? When you are 70 years old?

The only difference this time might be Slash. Slash has made movie soundtracks. It could be a collaboration. Or Axl just feeling like if Slash did. He has to do it as well. We put it together with his previous statement about making a solo instrumental album. Who would be interested in asking Axl to make a movie soundtrack?

Anyway at the end it means nothing to us. We want a new GN'R album not a movie soundtrack

But Slash is not into those big orchestra stuff that Axl likes from movie soundtracks. Slash is more into horror movies and other type of soundtrack.

So far, I think this is just wishful thinking on Axl's part....... He's not demostrated he can create a good sountrack for any movie..... not even when he had the chance to participate of movie soundtracks, like with SFTD or Oh My God, he messed up those songs. Said OMG was a demo, couldn't finish on time.... it's always the same problem with an inability to complete a project.

Most movies take up to 2-3 years in the making.... unless it is some independent or experimental film that could take way longer... but those people couldn't afford a soundtrack made by Axl Rose, so I dont know :shrugs:

Also, Niven was on Mitch Lafons Rock Talk Podcast recently and stated a GNR insider has informed him that Axl is in studio sifting through CD era recordings to select material for new album. But Nivens word should be taken with an entire shaker of salt. Id prefer to hear with original players, personally.

This is a little bit interesting, seeing as @MaskingApathy saw Niven not so long ago who said he had been hanging out with Slash and was going to his show

It seems like a big coincidence he is saying that after having hung out with Slash not that long ago ...... but then again, it’s Niven!
