Yes, Hardwired has better standouts but it has so many horrible songs, it's horrible to listen to as an album. Death Magnetic is on another level, though. No comparisson. DM is far superior to Hardwired and 72. The second half of HW is average at best (except Spit Out the Bone), but the highs of that album are way better than 72 imo. I don’t hate 72, it’s just kinda whatever for me

However, nothing is as bad the filler HW. Spit Out The Bone is, in fact, the only decent track of the whole second disc of that album.

I really dig the first half of Hardwired and then am so-so on the rest besides SOTB. 72 Seasons comes across as very "generic modern Metallica" to me. It feels extremely uninspired, especially with Kirk deciding to improvise every solo instead of crafting them to perfection like he used to. So you have a pretty generic album with some generic noodling solos.
Rovim
for me Metallica just got less and less inspired with every new release post 2000 and it has been a consistent decline in quality imo. I'd say they've peaked quite early and I wonder how their albums would have sounded like after MOP had Cliff was still alive and still a part of the band. 72 Seasons is the most generic main Metallica album imo.
