A summary of the three Norwegian reviews I have read:

They all give 4 out of 6 in review. The main problem to the three reviewers is the length of the show. It becomes too long and too varied in quality. As it is stated in one of the reviews, it was a "good party that lasted too long". Still, one reviewer (who also attended Graspop) says the band sounds better than it has in a long time. The sound is great and the band members smiles are have a "good day at work".

Axl's vocals are the weak link in the show and goes from "inspired" to "just good enough". Still, he is credited for being on time, his mood., and his overall performance throughout the concert. Songs where he is particularly praised were Welcome to the Jungle, the end to Rocket Queen, Wichita Lineman (although the song and its placement in the set also makes "people fall asleep") and Civil War. Another reviewer points out that the vocals aren't critical (yet) and that the band should be credited for not resorting to playback vocals like Kiss and Motley Crue.

The band is universally praised, everyone of them (well, Dizzy and Melissa aren't mentioned). The interplay between Richard and Slash is mentioned, Duff's bass and Frank's drumming.

All of the reviewers hate on Absurd ("shit sandwich" and where Axl "inexplicable keeps fondling his crotch"), Slither is referred to as "nothing but a generous gesture to Slash", Street of Dreams is "meaningless", and on Better "everything [with Axl's voice] goes wrong".

On the other hand, Bad Obsession "hits the bull's eye", It's So Easy "suits Axl's low voice", Chinese Democracy is "better than on record", Welcome to The Jungle showcases Axl's "considerable force as a frontman and a vocalist", Reckless Life and Down on the Farm wins on energy, Live and Let Die and You Could Be Mine, together with Rocket Queen, is referred to as a "triumphant trio" for Axl, while another reviewer says that Civil War and Anything Goes are among Axl's best vocal performances, and Estranged is referred to as a "stroke of genius" (I suppose they refer more to the song's qualities than the actual performance), while the performances of Nightrain and Sweet Child O' Mine are "brilliant".

It is clear that the reviewers would have given this 5 or 6 out of 6 if the band had cut the set with an hour and focused on the songs that work the best (although they don't seem to be in total agreement on what songs should be cut - except for Absurd).

Who cares what one reviewer thinks? Probably not even a fan. For me that show wasn't long enough and I'm a bit miffed that we were short changed due to a stupid curfew (where is the communication between artist and festival?) and they cut out the whole encore and went from Nightrain right into Paradise. Yet gave us the sleep inducing Lineman. The band clearly was into playing the full show and pushed it as far as possible, ending at 8 past 11.

Yeah, the same goes for long movies. Just leave. You don't have to wait for the conclusion/finale of the show, for Paradise City and the confetti or when the bad guy is killed. Just leave when you are satisfied.

Well, you can leave, go to the loo, get something to eat, take a nap and come back for Paradise, if that's what you need. Let us others enjoy getting a bang for the buck and as many songs as possible.

Yeah i mean the "welcome to the jungle, we got fun and games" part

Maybe he tires his voice when he does the intro, "Do you know where the fuck you are, you're in XXXX baby, you're going to die" scream and it doesn't recover enough by the first line.

Yes I am from Spain, I have read It, well when they came to Barcelona in 2018 and last year to Sevilla the review was not too kind also so I did not expect anything from them

I knew that Mariscal Romero non wrote it review, but he is great Metallica fan.

Reading the set list and can't help but thinking that A) The first half just seems to lack flow and isn't imbued with enough classics B) No excuse to play some covers/Reckless life/Down on the Farm/Absurd over, say, Patience, Don't Cry, My Michelle or Out to Get Me.  They need to rework this a bit to be more audience friendly.

i was thinking about it yesterday. it's a festival, why bother playing better and wichita lineman and skiping your own biggest hits?

Because they clearly thought they would be playing the whole set. At the end there was motioning to hurry up and get to an end as there is a strict curfew. Very professional. <_< Luckily they pushed it until 8 minutes past curfew. And 23 minutes longer than their scheduled time. Could have also done without the Slash solo and get another song instead

Agree with you but you can't touch SCOM and NV...

Oh that's what I mean, it's not one of these songs so you can move it out at least temporarily, while songs like SCOM, PC, NV etc have to stay. If he's having a good vocal day, then throw it in. But at present his voice is really weak on the majority of the song. Focus the effort on what is currently strong in the set and cut out the less good stuff, or leave it to the alternate list... Sometimes that might mean you don't hear all the hits like maybe YCBM might not get played every night. Which I know is a big hit too, but if it was two nights in the same city,  I need to play it both nights

Wow. Not going to a show, because you get too much for your money. That's a certain kind of...

I didn't say I don't go because of the shows being too long. You are taking my "Maybe I'd go if the shows were shorter" and making the logical flaw that it means the long shows in the only, or main, reason I don't attend show

And you are wrong in thinking that everybody shares your approach that the longer the show is the better. I certainly don't feel that way. So yes, a show can actually be too long to many people. Like to the three reviewers whose reviews I summarized earlier in this thread and which I believe you confused for being my own opinions.

You put it out there, that maybe you go, if they were shorter. Don't backtrack now.

And the people I speak to, who go to shows, love the long shows and usually always are a song missing. It's one credit to GNR that they don't half ass it and give you shows worth the money in length. They could charge the amount of money they do and play 90 mins.  I'm always greatful they don't and cram as much songs into it as possible. Even though I might not enjoy every single one of them, others do.

I did say, who cares what a reviewer thinks (apparently you think the same, as seen by your comment, so again, don't twist things around now). And again. Reviewers don't pay. Reviewers opinions are like assholes. Everyone's got one. They don't matter more than the ones paying for shows. And the majority will be glad they get something for their money and more chances to hear their favourite songs. Otherwise they are free to leave.

But really, the whole exchange is ridiculous. GNR plays long shows. So that's that. Deal with it. You or any reviewer is not going to change that.

Yes, and "maybe" is the key word you should think about.

Still, many people are interested in what reviewers think and the post where I summarized the three Norwegian reviews seems to have been enjoyed by a few people here too, considering the likes it received. So there's that.

Am I not dealing with it? Do you live under the misunderstanding that I think I can change it by discussing it? Cool.
