Anything goes was written while izzy and axl were in Hollywood Rose, so I doubt that was written acoustically at first. but what do I know. Live Like a Suicide
If we're talking about a record, then the acoustic version is superior. But the merged slow/fast version they sometimes played live in the 80's was cool. Edited April 17, 2023 by Live Like a Suicide
rocknroll41
I like all versions but the AFD one is the best imo.
hudsonsaul
Enjoy both. Acoustic is far better for me though, has more balls and swagger, whilst the vocal performace is brilliant.
Outofgascar
I like all versions, but prefer the slower one. When Lies came out i preferred the acoustic version. There's also a really good version on YouTube from a Fox TV show in the '80s where the calls the song "Crazy" and Axl forgot some of the words, but the VHS sound quality is very bad. Tom-Ass
I think the LIES version is far superior than the Appetite version. I think it is more of a tempo/groove thing than Electric/Acoustic though. The Electric version on Live Era is VERY bad ass too. \m/

Bitchisback
Nobody likes the AFD version more. The Lies version is one of GnR's best performances of all time. Not to say the AFD version is bad, but the slower tempo and Axl's vocals together are perfect. Like others have said the live version when they play it slow with electric guitars is also a banger. I'll be honest if they replaced Anything Goes with SOYL and had a slow electric version of Your Crazy on AFD it would probably be the best album of all time lol
Spaghetti4twenty
Acoustic makes for a better song but the original is just classic gnr badassery
Free Bird
I think the metal version is the weakest part of AFD. Sounds cheap compared to the slow one. I always preferred the bluesy versions with groove. Edited April 22, 2023 by Free Bird
thunderram
Like a lot of others here, I've always loved the acoustic version the best. Despite AXL's own opinion of his voice on the acoustic side of LIES, I've always felt his voice on those 4 tunes was among the best tone I've ever heard from him. Not the absolute best tone, just among the best. I'm surprised nobody has linked this '88 Fox Late Night performance into this thread, which is hybrid acoustic/electric. AXL sounds fantastic here. Only downside is AXL having to omit the explicit lyrics.
