I watched 'Shame' last night. It wasn't bad but the script was flawed. It didn't explain the reasons for the main character's sex addiction, nor did it define the relationship between him and his sister very well. It was hard to have any emotional connection to them as a result. Making good films is fucking hard. I really don't see many films that I love.

Thats really what the film is about. Why are they so fucked up?

"We arent bad people we just come from a bad place"

That to me is the answer. My guess is they were abused. And the shame makes them like they are.

Its a mystery film without a detective.

Still surprised at how excellent Die Hard 4 is. Up until this one, it really was about as consistent a franchise of its length as you could possibly get... Which makes the mediocrity of the new one a really galling diasppointment.

I'm rewatching "Enter the dragon". Bruce Lee is awesome.

I'm sorry, but "A Good Day To Die Hard" sounds like a porn film.

And when some beautiful mind renames the film "The Jungle: a good day to die"... then you wish it still sounded like a porn film.

I love Shame! It didn't explain those things on purpose because you are supposed to think about them after the movie is over.

Agreed, it's stunning. As Wasted said, the line 'we're not bad people, we just come from a bad place' (and the obvious sexual tension between them) is all that's needed. It's a beautiful film and Steve McQueen is an extraordinary talent.

Good day to be a die hard fan. Ill probably go. I mean its Die hard how good were the others really. Its die hard, one liners, smoking, and yippe kai yay motherfuckers.

The original is a classic of the genre and the sequels vary from fantastic (3), to perfectly agreeable (2 and to a lesser extent 4). This one doesn't feel like part of the series, it's like a cheapo straight to DVD piece of shit that inexplicably features the character John McClane...even though he doesn't feel like John McClane and Willis gives the exact same performance he gives in everything now.

Just watched The Master, loved it. Joaquin Phoenix was phenomenal, he deserved the Oscar nomination. Movie was a little bit confusing at the beginning but kept my attention after the first 15 minutes. Oh and I love Amy Adams nose. :takethat:

Also watched Anna Karenina, it was... alright.

I respected Shame more than I enjoyed it but I guess that was kind of the point. I saw it in the cinema with some friends of mine who totally weren't expecting a film like that so the discussions afterwards amused me.

Finally got around to seeing Seven Psychopaths. I was kind of hoping it would be In Bruges but with Tom Waits in it. I did enjoy it but kind of felt like it was lacking something. It kind of felt like it never really got started.

Bruce seems to just be Bruce these days. He seems to just add his name to movie and turn up and be Bruce.

I thought Shame was quite amusing but then it got kind of serious with the you know.

Its also interesting the different imtrepretations. Like when he meets the nice girl. One person said he liked her so much he prematured. I thought je couldnt get it up conventionally. So then he orders a girl but she smirks at his plea for connection.

Deven pyschos and Guns, Gambling and Girls seem like knock off QT movies. Like using a formula. Still enjoyable. The Gringo was too in a way bjt it seemed like made for dvd sales.

I thought McDonagh was more poking fun at Tarantino rather than emulating him in Seven Psychopaths. Especially in the opening.

Watched The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Good movie, I liked the cast. Well done. Also watched La Vita È Bella for the first time ever and fell in love with Roberto Benigni, what a masterpiece, fuckin' awesome actor. 10 points.

I have been wanting to see The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Mainly because of Emma Watson, but it does look good!

That's how I interpreted it. She expected a more intimate sexual experience/connection and that completely turned him off. Whereas he wanted to get his rocks off and then connect after over a few bumps.
