luciusfunk
Saw this on Facebook. Every single comment is about a May release date.
wfuckinga
Not in may, it's already gonna be a disaster. Fuck them for making the series even worse. It should've stopped after ROTJ

Graeme
I now know what I am doing on 12/18/05: washing my hair.I was about to say "you have a great memory", then I realised that hairwashing is generally a daily occurrence, I probably washed my hair on May 18th 2005 as well...

ZoSoRose
I am fine with the "delay." It is clear that there were/are some issues behind the scenes, Ardnt just left and Abrams and Kasdan are taking on the story and script. I am a little bummed since Ardnt is such a wonderful writer but also psyched that Kasdan will be writting the plot (or at least with Abrams). He is the man who wrote The Empire Strikes Back, after all!Either way, we should still get some casting news by February if they are shooting this spring... the wait is slowly killing me =(
Zint
I'll be at the sold out advance screening the night before! Thanks for the news.
Georgy Zhukov
Not to mention this isn't the first time Alan Horn pushed the release date of a film back. He did that with the 6th Harry Potter film back when he ran Warner Brothers.

Val22
I heard they are holding auditions in England now. Can't wait to see who the stars of this new Star Wars will be.I really hope this movie is as great as the middle three, parts 4, 5 and 6.I did see 1, 2 and 3, but they weren't anywhere as good as the original movies back in the 70's and 80's. Those movies are still amazing to watch now.
rocknroll41
Can't wait to see this in theaters! Couldn't care less when it comes out, just as long as it's good!I am fine with the "delay." Re-writes happen in the big movie business all the time. Edited November 10, 2013 by rocknroll41
Georgy Zhukov
rewrites tend to happen on the day of shooting.
Bono
I might not go see it myself because I find the tickets too pricey.Haha holy fuck. Start saving now and you'll have no problem affording the $35 evening. Works out to you having to save less than $2 month. You'll manage. They originally wanted to push this back to 2016 and Disney said no way. I have no issue with the delay. Who cares really. This is it. They gotta get it right to revitalize the franchise. There's pressure this time to revive it rather than not fuck it up Lucas fucked up so badly with the prequels these movies are more of a way to save face for the franchise than anything. Hopefully they do but I imagine they'll be average at best. The lightsaber battles are gonna suck again just like they did in the prequels I can guarantee it. Why? Because people are dumb and prefer flashy dancing with the stars sequences rather than real intense lightsaber battles ala Empire and Jedi.

ZoSoRose
None of us know what exactly happened behind the scenes but it does seem there is more going on than revisions to the script. I am not saying it is a total re-write, as that would mean the past year was completely wasted and they surely would not have let it get that bad. It does seem that Abrams and Ardnt were not seeing eye- to- eye though, and that goes in line with JJ's rumored displeasure with the project this summer and the delay of a summer release to December 18. Either way, Disney and Lucasfilms know this is one of the most anticipated films in history and they will do everything possible to make sure it lives up to the hype. The things we know for sure-JJ Abrams is directing and helping with the story, Lawrence Kasdan is also writing the story and script, John Williams is scoring the film, they are actively casting right now, and filming will commence this spring. Those are all positive signs in my opinion and either way, we will know more about the story and characters in the up coming months and hopefully know if Harrison, Mark, Carrie, Daniels, Baker, Mayhew, and Billy Dee are on bored (Han, Luke, Leia, Threepio, R2, Chewie, and Lando). Im guessing we will also have a title by Summer. And also, I know Phantom Menace was just as anticipated, if not more anticipated and it was a colossal failure. It was also the product of one man's vision and control who did not allow the input from others and was just surrounded by "yes men." Lucas is awesome for the original three but he did not do them alone, he has a lot of help. So, I am a lot more confident in VII-IX than I-III (although I did actually really enjoy III).Yeah... I like Star Wars...

I like Star Wars...It has made over $1 billion world wide. No mean feat in 1999. It is the highest grossing film of the franchise and adjusted, it behind A New Hope by about $400 million. It is far from a failure.
