Axl is on Budweiser advertising

Recommended Posts

I expected another public embarrassment after seeing the thread is almost 20 pages... but it was pretty decent. I don't see what's wrong with it. We complained when he was totally reclusive and we complain when he does something. At least DJ isn't playing.

Oh come on!! Don't be so mature and balanced about this absolute travesty!!

It's just that there were a lot of folks who liked to slag Slash for commercialism and said that Axl had way more artistic integrity and would never do things like that. They're all of a sudden in the "hooray for commercials!" boat. It's comical.

Doesn't bother me any. Guy's got to make a buck.

At least someone gets it. Nobody gives a shit about Axl's integrity, it's just like you explained.

What integrity? When did Axl become this principled punk ethic artist who was like, anti-commerciality, they were signed to a major record label, they've had corporate sponsorship in their day, when the fuck was integrity of this description ever a part of the GnR ethos, it wasn't ever, they wanted and actively sought to be the biggest band in the world...and achieved it for a while, looking for artistic integrity in a big mainstream stadium rock band is like look for a whore in a nunnery.

A 3 second cameo in a beer commercial is still a far cry from animated Disney videos.

Yes, it's more commercial and indicates less integrity

Axl himself brought the word integrity in the past... "The lawsuit also attacks Axl's integrity as Slash and Duff, in a vindictive attempt to aggrandize their own stature, re-write history through false statements, which have been repeated by the media. Their attacks on Axl stand in sharp contrast to Rose's conduct. Axl has at all times worked diligently to maintain the artistic integrity of the band by choosing with great care which properties to license GUNS N' ROSES songs to and refusing to participate in what he believed were potentially embarrassing projects. He has fought to avoid the release of material that does not live up to the highest of standards demanded by the band's history and its followers. Axl chose not to respond through the media while taking the high road in the face of Slash and Duff's attacks. Hudson and McKagan, by contrast, have told ever changing — and false — stories regarding the formation of the band and its history and believe that the band's catalogue should be exploited without careful consideration — for the GUNS N' ROSES brand and their loyal audience — or Axl's input as if it were fast food by anyone willing to pay for it.

In all likelihood he probably got a nice little paypacket for that cameo and couldn't care less what anyone thinks. This is the same person who just came off a second vegas run and has hired a 40 year old male guitarist who looks like a 16 year old emo wearing a shirt with a ripped sleeve that his little sister tore off while fighting over their makeup. Not that slash is any better either, every song sounds the same and his singer sounds like tina turner using male growth hormones, not to mention his own garbage paradise city recording.

omg omg what are you doing here hater

you think either slash or axl or any of them care about their integrity? doubt it. so, why not just laugh about it instead of taking it too seriously.

What i dont like about slash is that he has his bouncer to turn you away if you wanted a photo with slash. Then he plasters pictures with people who were holding an interview with. Someone who does that many interviews shouldn't be camera shy with his own fans. In that context he sells his fans out.

according to a recent tour package it appears no less than $499 will get one the desired photo. sad.

I totally agree with this. I hate to admit it but Slash wasn't that fun to meet at all. Absolutely no photos allowed and the security WILL take you away if you try.

There are so many rules when meeting Slash, you have to line up, can only get one thing signed and then you move along.

When I met Axl he was so lovely and warm both times, had no problem posing for a photo, chatted to everyone and signed things very graciously. I couldn't have wished for a nicer experience.

When I met slash he was very rude and only would sign and no pictures. While he was signing my Gnr shirt I posed and got a quick picture out of it. When I met Axl he signed and even posed for a picture :)

Yeh unfortunately most VIPs seem to be that way, which is why I wouldn't pay even a $1 for any sort of formal or planned meet and greet experience. Either take 10 seconds to sign someone's autograph heading out a stage door, or just don't bother with fan interaction.

Yeah agreed.

I didn't pay for VIP to meet either. I just waited after the show.

To charge fans AND act that way towards them is disgusting though. I hope none of them do that!?

The best part was Axl’s part. The rap version was a bit lame. Why are they emphasizing

Cahill and Etoo here so much, are they more famous or skilled than some of the other players?

I think it is just cool to see GNR/Axl in big campaigns like this. The money it brings means that

they can fund any future records without record companies unless of course they are legally

bound to use them.

No No No! Why did Axl or whoever give those rappers permission to fuck up Paradise City?

I hate when amazing rock songs are sung like rap songs. It's just not right and it sucked

Okay, I didn't watch it all at first, then I did and saw Axl. Come on! Does he really need the money that bad?

I hated it. Axl should be ashamed that he allowed someone to fuck up one of the most amazing GNR songs.

Yes, it's more commercial and indicates less integrity

You're telling me this indicates any "integrity" whatsoever?

Anyways, complaining about an artist losing their integrity is just being a Nobody puts baby in a corner fan who's mad that their 50 year old rockstar isn't adhering to shitty culture values from 30 years ago. The Disney video is shit because it's shit, not because Slash is sacrificing his integrity in making it.

I think it's harsh to call it shit, it's like you're comparing it to his work in GNR, VR etc. Are you? I'm sure other people have, but this isn't meant to be held to that kind of standard. The man has kids. Lots of celebs, (and parents in general), will do silly stuff to impress/amuse their children. It should be taken with the humour that it's clearly meant. Not held up like it's part of his actual body of work. That's too much, and an example of how Slash is held to a ridiculous standard on these boards. Something as innocuous as this draws criticism. That's why this thread has descended into what it has.

Fucking hell he must really be low on cash to do something as disgusting as this, I mean don't get me wrong I know slash has stooped to some lows and once again im a big slash fan ( why is there always a need to preface a sentence with that on a forum ) but damn axl this is a cheap one.

Has Slash ever said why he's such a bitch about photos and all that?

One guy who was lining up to meet Slash told me that he got a picture with him two years ago but it was hard.

He said Slash refused but then said 'actually wait a minute'. He got his security to go and fetch his top hat and once that was on he took the picture.

Ridiculous!
