Zint
It's part of changing up the set list and not making it the same old stale shit on every tour. They could easily just keep doing SCOM, PC, My Michelle, Brownstone, and the casual fan would be more than content. But for hardcore fans, getting new songs and mixing different old songs are a real treat. No different than people who were falling over themselves with the thought of 3 different songs for the Guns residency, and then wetting their panties over Yesterdays and TWAT. And how many hardcore fans are willing to pay Aerosmith prices to see an abbreviated hour-long show by Slash? Other than you and I, of course. **raises hand**
Anguyen92
I thought about it when I heard that they were going to be playing at the Forum in Inglewood, but $65 just doesn't seem to be the right value for me. That said, I thought really differently when I'm heading to their headlining show (for almost the same price as the show in the Forum) in the Pechanga casino since I get to watch an additional hour, which is always sweet. Anguyen92
Wow, watching that video that Zint linked, when SCOM came out, there was this one guy in the crowd creaming so hard about it saying "Here we go!". But for hardcore fans, getting new songs and mixing different old songs are a real treat. No different than people who were falling over themselves with the thought of 3 different songs for the Guns residency, and then wetting their panties over Yesterdays and TWAT. But the thing is, they DO keep doing SCOM, PC and Nightrain .... every show.I understand always keeping SCOM and even PC, but I hafta admit I'm a tad bored with Nightrain. Much rather have it replaced with Rocket Queen, Civil War, or even Patience (the song). And how many hardcore fans are willing to pay Aerosmith prices to see an abbreviated hour-long show by Slash? Other than you and I, of course. Well you're going to have your staple songs for sure, so SCOM and PC are a given from Guns and Slash. No complaints from anyone I don't think. I do agree about Nightrain, but then again Myles does a good job with it, which might be a reason it's kept in there. Probably the same reason VR always covered ISE, Scott was awesome on that tune too. But you can't argue about Slash's set list as a whole. Check out what he played in 2011 and what he's playing now. Beggars & Hangers On, Sucker Train Blues, Fall To Pieces, Brownstone, RQ, etc. He's not doing them anymore unfortunately, but it's a positive at the same time. The set rotates every tour with NEW tunes, and new old tunes. That's damn exciting for a fan. If you want to say Axl has changed the set list by dropping more and more CD songs, well that's a good thing imo, but he's not replacing them with anything brand new, and that sucks. A different cover, a different old song he hasn't played in 20 years, eh, ok. People here get excited because doing something off the norm is rare. Posters were begging for OMG ffs, that's how desperate the fans are for anything. The good thing is you don't need to pay Aerosmith prices to see Slash. Aerosmith was just a nice bonus for me. Yes, we are the exception and not the rule. But last time I saw him, tix were $35.00. And, he's always touring. As a fan, you can't ask for anything better. jmapelian
No. Myles is great. I love that they took a chance with YCBM. Slash nailed it. Exactly. I've seen Slash solo 8 times. Every show since the first one, I have gotten at least 3 new songs I've never heard him play live before. Except at this opening for Aerosmith show in which I only heard 2 songs I've never heard before (I expected opening for Aerosmith he'd play all stuff I've seen). Thats why Slash is an amazing show. Every one is truly different and he goes the extra mile that he really doesn't have to to make you come back. As if the band wasn't good enough already, he also always keeps you guessing about what he's gonna throw in and they take the time to really go out of their way for their hardcore fans."GNR" hasn't done that since 1993. Sorry, but there's a reason I've gone back to see Slash solo 8 times and seen post-93 Guns only once.Totally agree with this, but are you including vr shows, cause I saw his solo band about 8x's, but also saw vr about 7x's and saw guns twice since 93, would have been 3x's but I was at the 1st philly show that ended in a riot.....lol

uctalum01
sounds about right, but it seems like he's been going away from the Godfather solo and doing the extended RQ solo more. sometimes it feels like the extended RQ solo is longer than Godfather was. And I can understand why there wouldn't be an extended version of RQ, again because of the 60-minute time constraint. But why not the album version of RQ? Or why not Civil War? Or My Michelle? Or It's So Easy? I say drop Nightrain for another GNR song, nobody's gonna miss it.that's only been 2 shows and they weren't headlining, though. I tend to think that when they get headlining shows RQ will be in the set. tbh, I think I'd rather see Nightrain than the others you mentioned. Brownstone I'd be ok with switching out, though. I'm sure not a popular opinion, but it's jmo.

Aren't we wetting ourselves over You Could Be Mine... just like yesterdays?Slash hasn't played YCBM since argentina 93, Axl hasn't played yesterdays since Argentina 93. They are both doing the same, except Axl is going under the GNR name.Axl could change up the setlists but he plays an average 3 hour show.Slash plays 2 hours.Haha, Slash mixes it up and plays new stuff every tour! Please don't ever compare Slash's live sets to lazy ass Axl who's been sitting on the same set for 10 years.... As for the 2 hours compared to 3 hours. Slash plays 2 hours non stop of songs on stage, whereas GN'R draw shit out with long solo spots and jams between the songs

fergus
I just saw Slash at bluesfest in Ottawa Canada on Friday July 11th. And it was awesome, was easy to get to in front row gate and see Slash play a short 1 hour set list of classics and new... Ps. why was Ottawa not on your tour date? It was on his website. Slash2baz
have the conspirators done it's so easy yet? I'd like to hear Think About YouThey did "it's So easy" w/ Conspirators feat. Duff McKagan last time in Seattle 2012 during the encore I guess. About the Godfather / RQ solo debate, Slash just likes changing. He played Godfather because it was his trademark for years so when he started touring on his own in 2010, that was the right spot for guitar solo. Now he just love doing extented RQ to avoid playing a full "guitar solo song" like Godfather or the blues Jam he did on AL tour (on the major part of the Tour). gunsfanoldie
Nightrain is slash 2nd favorite song tooThere's your answer. I don't get the hate (maybe too strong a word) for Nightrain from people. Its one of the few songs he plays every time and frankly its one of my favorites. I can't wait to hear it every show and its an awesome third spot song. I kind of think of it like Zeppelin: usually always the third song of the night and just the perfect place for it. Sets things off for a good tone while not immediately busting out with a GNR tune right out of the gate. And as mentioned, Slash has said before its one of his favorites. I love to see him jump around while playing it.

I've seen Axl once. Granted, he tours less in the States, but Axl did a run of NY clubs and I saw none of them. By comparison, if it were Slash, I probably would have seen 2 or 3 of the 5. There's just something about Slash that makes me keep wanting to see him in any incarnation again. The Slash/Aerosmith show ended up being a birthday gift, but I mainly wanted to see the show for Slash because by all accounts he won't be back in the states till at least early next year. I was debating driving 10 hours to and from New Hampshire to see a Slash headlining date because its been a year since my last and probably a year till my next. Thats just the sort of thing Axl has never given me the drive to do.Not to turn this into a whole "Slash vs. Axl debate", but there is something to the Slash passion.
