iCloud hacked - celebs nude pics flood the internet - J-Law, Kate Upton etc

I was somewhat hesitant to really look at these but I came across them reading Redditt this morning.

I actually feel sorry for Jennifer Lawrence. I doubt she even knew those pics were floating around (at least the facial ones). There's tons off assholes out there that pride themselves in taking pics when the chick is at her most vulnerable....she was probably wasted on top of it. But hey, she's also to blame....she just f'ed the wrong asshole.

I think they facial ones are fake but there is a very genuine video out there that has yet to leak.

There were too many of her to pass the blame of taking them to someone else - alcohol is never an excuse either. Why was the person who took them an asshole? Did he leak the photos? How do you it didn't turn her on? I thought her iCloud was hacked.

Actually, from what I read, the real story is that these pics were all a part of a "underground" trading ring. Some rich kid bought them and started to leak them. Then, some of the other hackers/collectors followed suit. So no, her iCould wasn't necessarily hacked.

Fair enough. Was the person who took the photos part of this trading ring or are you just quick to blame him? Shady situations for sure.

No evidence to suggest it wasn't either in fairness. Some of the pics are selfies, others sent via snapchat/mms. Apple have said iCloud is secure and that they were hacked via the old guess the person's shitty password.

It still boils down to people (male&female) not securing their data properly and someone taking advantage of that.

I think the older generation who didn't grow up with computers/internet can get a pass on this as lots of them are computer illiterate.

The younger generation really has no excuse. It is just being irresponsible and taking risks. People do it all the time though, no matter how many times you tell them that they need to take caution on the net.

Um, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that since the camera's flash was firing in the facial shots, she was well aware that her picture was being taken.

From my experience, the girls who like having their pictures taken while naked or during sex didn't need any convincing through alcohol. I could ply my current fiancé with all the booze in a liquor store and she would still never agree to it. Again, from my experience, alcohol simply exaggerates one's own personal qualities and preferences. I have a hard time believing that alcohol was a factor in all of these shots.

Bob Lefsetz's (a music blogger who is widely followed) take on the whole thing:

How dumb can you be?

Excoriate Perez Hilton, come down on 4chan, but what I want to know is why these celebrities have nude photos on their phones to begin with?

Maybe I grew up in the dark ages, when you had to go to the porn shop to buy European magazines to see naked ladies, when it was a breakthrough when "Penthouse" printed pictures of women below the waist. But despite being aged, a veritable antique, I'm fully aware that if you don't want anybody to know anything, don't put it on the Internet!

No, let me restate that. If you're going to do anything illicit, do it alone, in the bathroom, in the dark.

Is it any wonder the public is interested in nude photos of celebrities? Isn't that what they're selling? There aren't that many unattractive actors and actresses in America. No, you won the gene derby, you worked on your craft and you made it. Congratulations! But do you have to be so dumb?

I mean exactly why do you need to take nude photos of yourself to begin with? When did that become the highest form of art? Ain't that America, where sex is taboo, but you flaunt your naked body nonetheless. I mean which way do we want it, European style, with naked boobies on the beach, or buttoned-up puritanical?

Oh, of course I feel sorry for Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton and the rest of the cadre whose names I don't recognize. But it really makes me wonder if they live in the real world. Are they so busy flying private and staying at the Four Seasons that they don't know what's going on?

There's a camera in every store..

There's a camera in the taxi.

There's a black box in your car.

And I believe we should definitely be debating privacy. But when I can go online and see a list of everywhere I've ever lived, the residence of my ex-wife, even the assets owned by my long deceased dad, I don't enter anything in a field that I don't want everybody to know.

Kind of like addresses... Want to buy something illicit on the Internet? Don't ship it to your home. That data is there...FOREVER! Kind of like Jennifer Lawrence's nude pics.

We've had leaked sex tapes, we've been living in this Internet era for nearly two decades, and suddenly we've got actresses stunned that their data isn't safe?

You never got your phone stolen? You've never lent it to another to take a picture? If you're famous, no one's ever snapped a photo of you without asking first? Hell, this has happened to me, and my fame can fit in a thimble compared to that of Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton.

That's the society we live in.

As for iCloud... Read this story:

"The Police Tool That Pervs Use to Steal Nude Pics From Apple's iCloud": http://www.wired.com/2014/09/eppb-icloud/

Furthermore, Google keeps your search history. So when you're at home, surfing porn, know that you are not alone, big brother is watching.

So what are we gonna do about this?

SELF-POLICE!

This was a crisis on Facebook a few years back. Drunken pics of college students went on their permanent record and prevented them from getting jobs. Did we beat up the corporations for using this data? Hell, we couldn't even get Facebook to give an adequate response. No, we educated ourselves and stopped posting that information. A big activity became scrubbing photos from Facebook the night after a party. Everybody woke up.

Why can't the actresses involved in this scandal wake up?

The last time I checked I had a body. Not that I'm proud of it. But I'm not taking naked photos of it and sending it to my girlfriend, because then they'd exist. On my phone, in the cloud, on my computer. If someone wanted to blackmail or humiliate me...

And I'm not demanding my girlfriend send me these photos either. I can get enough of her live.

Come on, Snapchat is all the rage because it evaporates, however imperfectly, and famous people get a pass for taking permanent photos and being astounded they leaked? THAT'S HOW THE INTERNET WORKS!

Perez Hilton has proven he's got no morals. He's a product of the Internet era, where personal fame is everything. Your brand trumps your talent and if you cross the line you apologize.

But if we stopped clicking on the links, he'd go out of business.

But we can't help ourselves. Because we're animals, human beings, with curiosity and desire. We love gossip because it's about us, people. We're evaluating others' fashion choices and word choices and love choices all the time, frequently modeling ourselves after them.

Furthermore, the Internet is filled with nobodies posting their own naked photos in an effort to get famous. Just Google your favorite predilection, photos and videos will come right up.

But no, the famous are inviolate.

Anthony Weiner resigns from Congress because he doesn't understand Internet privacy and makes poor choices but Hollywood is immune?

Hogwash.

Agree with some of that but not all. I don't care if people want to take photos of themselves naked/fucking/whatever but if they then use a less than secure way of storing/sending that material then I don't have a lot of sympathy for them when it leaks.

By the way, Snapchat photos might vanish...but they are not gone. You've been warned.

Yeah, and? So she knew that he was taking the pics? And what? There's a million things that could have happened....it's all hearsay.....your opinion is only that, nothing more. The fact is that only Jennifer Lawrence and the guy that took the pic know the real truth.

Not necessarily "tricked her" but anyone with half a brain and an IQ over 50 would realize that Jennifer Lawrence has absolutely nothing to gain (especially at this point in her career) to have a bunch of pics floating around with some guy's wad all over her face. On the other hand, the guy that took the pic probably does.

What I'm saying that what happened to Jennifer Lawrence isn't what happened to Erin Andrews, who had someone film her through the peephole of her hotel room.

Considering Lawrence is looking directly into a camera that's using a flash, it's a little difficult to argue that perhaps she had no idea the photos were being taken. She knew and she was either irresponsible to let the guy keep them or to save them on herself. I don't begrudge anyone for using cameras/camcorders for spicing things up, but for Christ's sake, delete the images afterward.

What? Are you somehow insinuating that Jennifer Lawrence has something to gain by having these pics out there?

She's only the hottest thing in Hollywood right now. She is the last person on Earth that needs any sort of publicity.

What I'm saying that what happened to Jennifer Lawrence isn't what happened to Erin Andrews, who had someone film her through the peephole of her hotel room.

That's my point. How do you know what happened afterwards or what type of interaction they really had?

What if she thought that the pics were deleted afterwards?

Would you feel differently then?

Not really if her means of confirming their deletion was simply the guy telling her that they were deleted. Use your own camera (not a phone with a camera in it), and don't let the other person have it. Finally, once you've both seen the pictures, delete them and destroy the memory card. There, problem solve.

Really dude? Like most 20 something year-old chicks really think that far ahead?

But anyway, I'm not saying she's not to blame....of course she is. But so is the guy that did this.

The only way to get the content was to target the celebrities directly and guess their poorly thought out passwords.

If the icloud mainframe datebase had been hacked, given the immensely valuable content on there from millions of people that use it, a few nude celebs would be well down the list of any hacker. Apple has confirmed the mainframe was not hacked. They said the hackers exploited poor passwords.

The facial pics are fake.

We are talking nude selfies. And they most certainly came from the celebrities phones or, in the case of Kate Upton, her high profile boyfriends phone.

Your theory doesn't stack up KK.

My theory is based off what Anonymous apparently posted on reddit.

And it makes more sense than a single hacker hacking all these celebrities' pics.

Just think about it for a second.

Most 20 year olds? No. But someone like Jennifer Lawrence should.

How do we know the guy had anything to do with releasing the pictures? Maybe he did. But they could have just as easily been taken on Lawrence's phone/camera. What's the likely scenario: Lawrence allows the guy to use his camera to take the pictures or she uses her own camera/phone thinking so long as they remain in her possession they're safe? You're right in that we don't know the details, but if I were a betting man, my money would be that she kept the photos on her (or in some sort of cloud storage account), not knowing or appreciating the abilities of today's pervy hackers.

We don't know what happened. But I seriously doubt she kept extremely unfavorable pics, with a guy's wad all over her face, on her phone.

Unless she has some sort of fetish, I doubt that is the case. Most women only keep very good looking photos of themselves.

I mean, Downzy....do you have a girlfriend? Have you ever had a girlfriend that would keep an ugly pic of herself....like anywhere....like ever?

Common freaking sense, people.

Are you telling me KK, being the self-proclaimed stud that you are, that you have never encountered at least a couple of women who get off on being videotaped or having their pictures taken?

It's been my experience, at least, that there are women out there (just as I'm sure there are men as well) who get off on knowing that their partners can see them naked whenever they want. Then again, maybe I've been with more exhibitionists than most.

I do remember seeing Jennifer Lawrence being interviewed on Conan a few months ago, where she told a story about having a suitcase full of butt plugs. She strikes me as someone who has a high sex drive and is into the kinky stuff. Which is fine, no judgement about that. So yes, considering that she talks about butt plugs openly and takes facial pictures privately, yes, I don't have a hard time believing that she'd keep those kind of pictures accessible. Hell, most of the female bartenders I use to work with use to keep naked selfies on their phones. One would continually flash different shots at me from her phone during our shift (it was an awesome job :) ).

The facial pics of JLaw are fake.

The facial pics of JLaw are fake.

I've already told KK that several times. Maybe he'll see it this time before he makes another post trying to blame some imaginary bloke.

Most 20 year olds? No. But someone like Jennifer Lawrence should.

Since they're apparently fake, I guess your opinion on Jennifer Lawrence is wrong. See what happens when you assume things, Downzy?

Well, that just takes her down a couple of pegs in my book.
