iCloud hacked - celebs nude pics flood the internet - J-Law, Kate Upton etc

Finds it humorous that it's being called "The Fappening."

I kind of feel sorry for the first round of girls who this happened to. But at this point, really, they only have themselves to blame.

The name is not funny, it's really just making this more disgusting that it already was. Also, they don't have themselves to blame, the only person(s) to blame is/are the hacker(s).

Fine, but it's at least clever.

Look, I get why people are (and should) be outraged. But as Magisme has commented prior, there is a whole bunch of other things to be outraged over first before we get to this.

Any girl/guy who consciously has their picture taken of them while in a precarious situation should know and understand the risks involved. It doesn't matter whether they're a celebrity or not. There are a ton of things celebrities cannot do that they should normally be allowed to do (take a walk without being hounded, eat a meal without being interrupted, pick up their kids without being stalked, etc.). When you sign up for that life style, there's certain things you unfortunately forfeit. If you really want to take naked shots of yourself and store them in a digital format then becoming a celebrity is probably not the best idea. The risks of such an endeavour become even more real and magnified.

At the same time, I won't defend the individuals who made the effort to violate these girls' privacy; they should own up to their wrong doing. While I wouldn't condone the actions of those involved, I also am not going to be too sympathetic to girls who should have known better.

The best points I've seen made during this whole dust up are the ones about people who are all up in arms about the NSA yet have no problem looking at a ton of private, hacked pics.

I guess it's just human nature. You're curious, it's easy enough to gain access to even if you're super lazy, and we're bored.

Reminds me of Fargo and how Billy's character, Malvo, talked about how we were just apes. We're just animals. If it's hot, we'll use it to cum. All those celebrity bitches spark our imagination, we want to fap to their naked flesh. It's stronger for most people who are attracted to women. That curiousity factor. Hard to get, so when you finally get it, you want to use it to get hard and cum all over the place. Like the fucker who came all over Jennifer Lawrence's face.

Erm...no. We've evolved past apes and have the ability to make concious, thought through decisions. You chose to get your rocks off at someone else's expense when you could have exploited nobody i.e used your imagination.

Erm...yes. That was my point though: as evolved as we are, we're also not really evolved. Not all the time. When we get the chance, our instincts as "human animals" are sometimes stronger then anything that came after that like morals or principals. Feeling ashamed, or following our conscience, or being a good person. Exploitation is natural. Cheating is more natural in some ways then staying loyal imo, for example.

When some people drink or do drugs, you get to see who they really are. All that make up and masks...poof! it's all gone and all that's left? animalistic behavior.

Oh, and I'm usually captain morals, but fuck this shit. Yes, the guy who did it is in the wrong. Completely. But I've always felt that putting private pics of your punaner on whatever cloud service is a bit of a risk. Not a smart move. So yeah, sucks for you but this is a great global lesson on internet safety. Also, fuck people who If you call clicking on these pics mass molestation. You're a fucking idiot and need to get a grip on reality. People need to stop acting all holy about this.

The best comment I've read about it is this:

"On one hand I feel bad for Jennifer Lawrence. The other hand is busy."

What everyone seems to be missing is that the problem here is the auto upload to the cloud and that it's not deleted off there. One of the women said she deleted the pics, so she was obviously unaware of the auto-upload to the cloud feature. A lot of people seem to forget others aren't as tech-savvy as themselves, or even a little. Most of these celebs (whose pics are actually real and not photoshopped) probably thought once it's off your phone it's gone, not that they went out of their way to manually upload them to a cloud storage.

Also, even if they did, it's still not their fault and none of this will ever be their fault. They were the ones hacked into, they are the ones who had their privacy violated. They shared these pics with their partner, and some entitled asshole felt he had the right to steal them.

So now a company is liable for which one of their services you turn on while you don't know what you're using? There's a reason I'm not using iCloud on my iPad. I'm not an iDiot. This is actually very similar for people who blame McDonalds that they're fat or smoking companies because they have lungcancer. I really hate this "unknowing victim" role people love to put themselves in. I say bullshit. You used their product without educating yourself. Your mistake, your responsibility. Edited by username

When was the last time an authoritarian regime controlled the population through leaked tit pics?

My follow up post has a little more info on where I was coming from:

In my experience, those who go on about the NSA cry "My privacy! My privacy!". That's the part that I think is comparable. They seem so concerned that the government might read the promo emails they get from some website, all while posting every second of where they are and what they're doing on fb, twitter and instagram. That by itself is humorous and contradictory enough for me, but then something like this happens and the hypocrisy is even more apparent to me.

I still think it's important to highlight the differences. What's the potential downside to something like the NSA data collection program? Police State. What's the downside to The Fappening? Sad celebs.

If I were famous and if it were me, I think I'd be embarrassed at first but then I'd probably laugh about it.

"Yeah, that's my dongosaurus".

My girlfriend accidentally put a picture on her facebook of our vacation in Portugal where you could clearly see my cock in the bathroom mirror. We simply hadn't noticed. Took about 6 months before someone mentioned it in a comment. It was one of her co-workers and so before we knew it almost all of her co-workers were commenting on it. When we came home and she found out that happened she screamed "WE NEED TO TAKE A PICTURE OFF OF FACEBOOK NOW!!!". She felt a bit embarrassed but I thought it was absolutely hilarious. :P Laughed my ass off! ^_^

I imagine some of her co-workers and some of my co-workers who are friends with her co-workers still have it. Oh well. ;)

Rule no. 1 in the nutty feminist play book: Women are not responsible for the consequences of their own stupidity. Ever.

Obviously this is the fault of their boyfriends who need something to wank to when they are away. As oppose to taking a bumble bath with scented candles and reading a romance novel or screwing some random chick they've met at a bar. Men have needs.

If they didn't feel so pressured by men, they wouldn't need to feel obligated to take these pictures and allow their men to relieve themselves.

That was me being sarcastic for the retarded people out there

I'm sure everyone knows the consequences of taking naked pictures on your phone.

Doesn't make any of this okay. And it certainly doesn't make it the fault of the celebrities.

The fault is certainly only on the hackers. Regardless of the possibility of this sort of thing happening, there is an expectation of privacy here that was obscenely violated.

I mean, there are consequences of getting in your car and driving to work. Someone could crash into your car. You know that when you get in the car, yet you do it anyways. But yet if someone crashes into you, it's their fault. Because they were the ones who fucked up.

Just because the possibility exists that phones can be hacked doesn't mean that these celebrities are at all responsible for any of this. You should be able too share pictures of your body privately without it being stolen and shared with the world.

A lot of bullshit being spewed around on this forum. Really disappointing.

What if you continuously leave a pile of money on your kitchen table and are in the habit of leaving your door open. One day you will most likely get robbed. While the blame lies with the criminal who broke in and stole the money that was just laying there, some responsibility also falls upon the victim for being stupid.

We really don't know the background to these photos anyway. Maybe they were hacked from someone else's icloud rather than the person in question. They might have been a consenting part of someone's sexual relationship or maybe coercement was involved. Problem is, as with most porn, you can never be sure what it is you are actually viewing.

It would be more like leaving money on your kitchen table, and someone breaks in forcefully and steals it.

Then whose fault is it.

And some halfwit celebrity who has everything in the world handed to them on a silver platter is supposed to know that iCloud is a potentially vulnerable technology that's susceptible to security flaws? In their minds, putting these things in their password protected cloud was as secure as putting it in a safety deposit box.

Now if they were stupid enough to go and make their passwords things like "Jennifer" or "password1", I can see where the blame would come from, but we don't know how the hackers got in. Perhaps apple is at fault for missing an exploitable flaw.

Sorry, i didn't realize those cell phones were stolen forcefully. I retract my (someone extreme) example.

At the end of the day it was definitely wrong. Hopefully a few of their careers will be impacted positively because of it.

Yeah I agree. However, I don't know how many times people need to be told that whenever you put anything on the internet it is a potential risk.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with pointing out the naivety/stupidity of a celebrity putting this kind of content within reach of hackers. None.

They are massive targets for this kind of thing and if they have any kind of public profile at all they know this, as do their advisers/managers.

Yet, I bet this won't be the last celebrity who gets hacked and has this kind of content released to the public. Despite the huge publicity surrounding this.

And the media of course is rife with hypocrisy in its coverage of this story. According to one braindead cunt at Forbes this is now "a sex crime."

It is an interesting position for anyone in the media to take as it raises all kinds of questions about the media itself.

1) Does that make paparazzi, who use long lenses to take photos of celebrities sunbathing topless in private, become rapists?

2) Are the magazines/websites/tv shows who pay said paparazzi co-conspirators in said rape of that celebrity?

3) Are the consumers of the above also conspirators?

4) Are the likes of Piers Morgan,Andy Coulson, and others involved in the hacking of celebrities/politicians phones now considered "mind rapists"?

5) How does a court of law define the parameters of "mind rape"?

6) Will ogling a person on the street now be considered "mind rape"?

7) Does this mean that Coca Cola advocates "mind rape" with their Diet Coke ads?
