There might be a chance that the 2018 and the 2022 World Cups get pulled from Russia and Qatar:

Probably a long shot, especially for the 2018 World Cup since it's only three years away, but hopefully changes are coming.

I feel there's a bit of a sadistic choice to be made regarding the Qatar World Cup. On one hand, they should never have been given the green light to host it, it's a grossly irresponsible move from a sporting, political and most of all environmental perspective and the sooner that the whole immoral operation is brought to a halt, the better (then those migrant workers who're having their passports withheld might be able to go home). But, at the same time, think of all the people who have died so far, to stop it means that all their deaths were meaningless. Horrible state of affairs.

Yeah, but do we risk another 3000-4000 lives because a 1000 have already died? I agree that it would be a shame for the people who have already lost their lives, but if moving the World Cup from Qatar means it saves thousands of lives going forward, not sure if there's any other real choice.
