Must have been hard to play; still nails it though. It wasn't that hot- in the 80s, which is not bad for KC this time of year. It was humid though. They were sweating like whores in church! Slash was absolutely drenched. One time I saw sweat running in a stream off Axl's elbow when he was holding his mic up.

Some people don't understand the humidity we get here in the Midwest. It can bra lovely 77 degrees, but you step outside for a smoke and you just sweat from the humidity without even moving. Plus these guys have all these stage lights and spotlights and all to deal with, so it's very easy to see how they can work up a sweat on a night where the temps seem reasonable but the humidity is off the charts. It sucks the life out of you (and not in a good way)!

But seriously, 25 year anniversary of the St Louis Riot show is this weekend and if you recall all the way back to then, Axl stage dived straight into seats, right? Heardly even heard of that place. No wonder the crowd was smaller. Just an off night. Sure they're gearing up for Chicago and anther dvd, bluray, uhd. Worst show? From what i have seen it was great, and they seem happy together

Fitha_whiskey
A couple cool moments for me that I'll never forget: -I had an incredible view of Axl when he got out on that catwalk. He was out there and facing right toward me when he sang the crazy end of Coma. Just the coolest fuckin thing. Incredible. -I was on Slash's side, and had a great view of him all night too. One solo in particular (DTJ I think), he was looking toward me, and the spotlight was blazing down on him, bouncing off his shades and it seemed like reflecting right into my eyes. I knew I was really, really baked at that moment... Haha. So awesome. (These photos are not of those moments)

Including comments from @EddieMoney who was actually at the show comparing it to RIR. Looks like today we are seeing a lot of fans that were there chiming in saying it was awesome and that's a great thing. Any comparison between this show and rir is crazy. Band are on form, and sounds really good.

I guess it's going to be hard to wrap a large banner around me. The sign said Axl mentioned said "Axl will you marry me? P.S. I'm only 18" He got a laugh at of it. He smiled and waved when he saw it. Shortly thereafter security confiscated it so I don't think they're allowing signs at the shows at least not at this one. Popular Post Jephro Rucastle
Here's another one with Tommy. My friend and I had a blast with him. He was very gregarious, funny and well-spoken. Everyone had a little buzz and he's an old hand so what's the difference if he was drunk or not? My friend had no idea who he was so as we were walking and chatting, she introduced herself and asked how we knew each other. I said "we're old college buddies" (I didn't go to college and I doubt he did either). I think he liked that I didn't blurt out "He played bass for the last 20 years!" He's a hugger for sure. He had his arm around me and said "good answer". We chatted about the Hudson valley, some music/gear and the security policies at large stadiums . No fan crap. I've been fortunate enough to meet quite a few well-known and not so well-known musicians, whom I admire, and I've always had better luck just hanging out talking about things we have in common. He did offer to me that : 1. He had been backstage 2. It was a surprise 3. He knows he's really pale but "you shoulda seen em, they looked like they were seein a friggin ghost. I love those guys. That was nice" As far as the show, I thought it was stellar. I leave the sword fighting about the merits of YouTube videos, being in person, Note-for-note critiques of every song, blah, blah, blah to those of you who have the desire. It was great. Yeah you get swept up just being there and that hides the bum notes. But I'm not there looking for perfection. I could've seen James Taylor from a suite the Friday prior but I turned it down. Why? Because I can listen to him at home and if I fall asleep halfway through the CD, I haven't offended the person that asked me into the expensive suite. I was actually a bit concerned that too much of the grit had been stripped away and it was a little too polished to be the real deal GnR but I was so happily wrong. Being close enough to see their onstage interaction, they are absolutely a band. Yeah the set list is a little predictable but the lighting guy kinda needs to know what's next and I bet he's not cheap. Who cares? I saw a real rock and roll band. Little to no superstar bs. Those guys were sweaty, having fun and giving maximum effort. What more can you ask? For Axl to sound like he did 25 years ago? I couldn't care less. He was giving it all he had and by the end, he wasn't really able to get every note out with full power because he was exhausted! Which is exactly what I hoped. There's no "saving yourself for the fourth quarter" crap. They went balls out and by the end he was shot. To me that's what it's all about. Loved it Anyone who bickers about set lists, every syllable sung, attendance numbers, etc. you're in the wrong place. This is a Guns N Roses discussion. Remember?
