I'm trying to pick a destination for next year and need some recommendations...

It has to be in Europe

Sandy beaches

Family friendly

Sunshine

My missus spent a month in Albania with the youngun earlier this year. Said it was really inexpensive and the beaches were gorgeous.

I can highly recommend the southern part of France, it's got all of what you are looking for and more.

@janrichmondWe went to Malta this year. Ghadira Bay is beautifully sandy. You can travel by bus anywhere on the island for €3. You can get fairly upmarket accommodation quite reasonably too.

The only thing I'll warn you about is the pavements are very uneven, so don't be walking around looking at your phone!

I hope you didn't get hurt!

Other than the well known historic cities/sites - Italy has over 3,000 miles of beaches.   It rarely rains in Southern Italy during the months of July and August. Most of the popular beach towns (even the smaller ones) have hotels, hostels, apartments and even luxury camping sites that won't break the bank.   You'll eat well and if you get bored of the beaches, you can easily take a day trip to the mountains or a historic site.

The beaches are very important, have to be sand and safe for swimming for kids. Any you can recommend?

I've been mostly to the east coast beaches - along the Adriatic.  But anything south of Rimini is pretty nice and safe for swimming.  Most of them have "establishments" with umbrellas, restaurants on the beach and life guard stands.  Typically, the further south you go, the "bluer" the water.

Rimini:

San Benedetto Del Tronto Beach:

(About 2 hours south of Rimini)

Residence a San Benedetto del Tronto - Residence Sunrise

Puglia region:

(About 4 hours south of San Benedetto)

Then there's the popular Almafi coast:

West coast near Naples.

And there's also Sardinia (I've never been there but I heard it's beautiful):

Based on your pics I've just booked to go to Albania for a month, staying in a place called Saranda right on the coast. I knew nothing about the country but your pics looked great so I did some Youtubing and now I'm sold :D
