Posted June 27, 2018 Popular Post Share Posted June 27, 2018 This was my fifth and probably final show on this tour (if it ever ends) a great end to a fantastic run, and up there with Prague 17 as the best performance/show I would say. Slither and shadow are great additions and were hugely improved over download uk, as was most of the show. The complaints and weakness around Axl were typical start of a new run after a lengthy break, which at this point are expected. He’s at 2017 level at this stage. One thing I will add about Axl is he seemed much more into the showman side of it In 2018, initiating waves during black hole sun, multiple cheers introducing slash, and in general seemed much more jovial and “into it” which definitely adds to the show. At times In 2017 he barely said a word (Copenhagen). Crowd were okay, wasn’t sold out meaning it was fairly easy to get close, but packed enough. Was nice to get a fos ticket for relatively cheap (90 euros) and get in there for my last show. It was bloody hot though for a northerner (about 33c) To top it off, managed to get my hands on a litho and safely back to the hotel before showtime. Quite a good design for the current Europe run. Seemed like something he would have added in the old days. I think it's a case of him trying to figure out where he needs to take his breath is throwing him. I know he played it 30yrs ago easily but it's fairly rapid fire and he's no spring chicken... Way better than I envisioned it sounding before the tour started and much better than the first handful of attempts. Same with Slither.. I just wish he would spend a couple days hashing these new songs out and rehearsing with the band before they play them instead of using live shows to do this. It is always the first performance videos that get blasted all over the internet and everyone watches. I had a few people reach out to me about Slither when they first played it and thought it was pretty bad.. Finally this show the rendition of Slither was good enough to change those peoples minds. I sent the link to a few people and they all thought it was much improved.
