Dude, I don't see how you can call this embarrassing? I'll take the clear pure Maddy any day over all versions since 02, and he is whaling on Night Train! You'd be forgiven for thinking it was some childish sample Pitman just sneaked in though Great to hear the new intro to Scraped in decent quality. Voice is a wee bit wobbly at the start but the high notes are superb. Guessing it would be pretty bouncy in the crowd when they play it. In no way whatsoever am I a blind follower--in fact I think he is weak on part of Catcher and Prostitute (1st verse, great on 2nd), but on This I Love, he sounds great! That is a tough one to sing in that setting, and for the most part, he was solid. I've never seen a wannabe on Idol have the natural presence, realness, and emotion that Axl displays. While I thought the album version was brilliant (well, first I thought it was cheesy but it really grew on me), these live versions are just so much more human. It's the "mistakes" that make it for me. Axl's warbling at the end of the Taipei vid bootleg is just beautiful, I think it adds to the song.
