Rio 2001. The energy and the crowd were awesome.

Boston 2002 seemed magical, but I think a lot of people outside of hardcore GnR fans had a problem with it because of the oddness.

Paris 1992 and Argentina 1993 were also great.

Old days? London 1987 (The Marquee)

Illusions? Paris, Argentina, or Chicago (all 1992)

Bucket/Finck era? Boston 2002

2006-present? Rock am Ring, LA 2006, lots from 2010 (Axl was very consistent that year vocally)

Broadcast wise. Rock AM Ring, Ritz. People went holy shit at Nightrain from AM after seeing VMAS in my circle

That Nightrain was my "go to" video for a long time to show people that Axl could still nail it.

Agree with every selection in this post. Although think that Rock AM Ring is actually very over-rated here. Think LA far surpasses it for 06.

I'd say the London shows for 2010.

The sound quality of AM Ring was amazing. I did however listen to Invasion and the show where they played Down on the Farm alot.

Duff on YCBM was awesome. I'd compare Axl in Dublin on YCBM to 92 vocal wise and people were like holy shit, he hasn't lost anything.

hmm.

Chicago 92. I love Coma. love the rants. the craziness.

RIR 01. the fans were crazy as all hell and axl still had long hair!

and of course Rock AM Ring 06. Just because Better almost sounds the closest to the actual recording vocal wise. also, how can you forget night train and "sowin all your porno.." :shades:

Old:

Indiana 91

Argentina 93

New:

LA 06

Tokyo 09

Great choices, love rasp on Indiana 91, especially for Estranged. Argentina 93 has prob best Nightrain and YCBM.

One of the LA 06's on YouTube has a great Better (it's not an HD one, it starts with Axl joking about how "those technical delays had nothing to do with me").

Tokyo 09, the first verse of Nightrain is unbelievable. Shame he comes in wrong for the screams on TWAT, but they sound great.

London 2010 and L'Arc need to be there for nuGNR. Felt Forum '87 for oldGNR.

The Marquee, the Ritz and Rock in Rio 1991 2nd night. Knockin, Patience and the Godfather into Double Talkin Jive are epic.

I like both Rock in Rios from 91 the best. Always find myself watching those on YouTube.

Yeah same here, funny thing is that was the first time we got to here new songs from that era.

Im curious to see everyones opinion. I'd say Argentina 93, just pure rock n roll, crowd is amazing, great setlist, the band is rockin, Axl kills it and Slash has some sick solos.

I've seen them many times from 1991 through 2012 (so far) and for me personally the best show I've ever seen was February '12 at The Fillmore in Detroit. It even beat the first Hammerstein show out.

There is no perfect answer to this question, but I personally think if you saw them in 1988, you probably saw a killer show. I saw them in August 1988 opening for Aerosmith. GnR had been on tour for a long time and were really tight. Check out the Middletown show on you-tube, apparently it was a couple of weeks before I saw them. Incredible.

I do admit, I'm biased. But there you go.
