Interesting that they're trying this again. Hard to quibble with it too much, the prices this time are actually reasonable and the shirt looks good. I would just be concerned that the items posted in the picture and the Bumble chat end up being the only things you'd get out of it for the entire year.

I don't give a fuck about a live video chat unless it's with Axl, Dizzy or Tommy

Dizzy? Bumble will give you the same info and he won't cover it up with a load of excuses. Tommy and Bumble are the only two that will give a straight answer.

Axl also

lol

It is certainly an improvement on the first membership; that t-shirt is actually something I could wear (unlike the t-shirts they sell at the concerts these days). But remember, they promised the 'exclusive digital content' first time round and never delivered. You cannot however compare it to the type of club Metallica operate. Nightrain is just ran by a company who run other bands' fanclubs. Metallica operate theirs themselves. Nightrain is the type of club that just offloads a load of tat on your doorstep and takes your money. Metallica's is centred on a bi-monthly magazine (imagine if Guns released a magazine every two months featuring exclusive interviews, photos, competitions, fan letters etc!!).

I guess Im buying a new membership.

Anyone have a picture of this yellow shirt from the last package? I've never seen it.

Truth be told, it doesn't sound too bad - if they keep to their word. Maiden still has the best fan club of any band out there for my money though...

Better fan club than Metallica? I don't know man...

From what I've heard and read, Maiden's fanclub is pretty cool and you get even more out of it than the Metallica one.

They offer different stuff. Kudos to Metallica for doing FC-only gigs, stuff like that. Maiden only did a couple of those to raise money for Clive Burr, but now that he's passed away I don't see any more of that type of stuff happening :(

The 4 big things in Maiden's FC for me are:

1. The presales. They run the best presales of any band ever. They're constantly organized, almost always go without a hitch as far as people getting what tickets they want, and you're allotted 4 tickets for every show of a tour. That's huge, most FC's offer a total allotment of 4 to 8 tickets period.

2. First To The Barrier. This is a contest they run in which 60 FC members attending a gig (Plus a guest each) are granted early access to the GA section to get a spot on the barrier. It's a great perk because Maiden fans queue for ridiculous amounts of time before a gig - in the US it's common for a sizable queue to be going by late morning on the day of a gig. With FTTB, I don't usually get to the queue more than an hour before FTTB is let in, and I only go that early because I'm usually picky about where I want to be on the barrier.

3. FC Magazine. This is a quarterly magazine sent to all FC members. There's usually an interview with a band member or a particularly prominent crew member, etc, other columns written by the people that run the FC, lots of exclusive pictures, and guest columns by FC members. One really cool article they run each issue is called Superfan, which is a showcase article on a really hardcore Maiden fan, and what the band means to them, etc. - my mom and I have had a Superfan article on us :)

4. FC Trips. Every leg of a tour, there is an FC trip on which the FC takes care of booking all of your gig tickets, accommodations, travel, and some special Trip-only event. All of this is at a greatly reduced cost as well. This last US run last month the FC trip was Las Vegas and San Bernardino, and the trip included 5 nights in hotels, a ticket to each gig, bus transportation between cities and to/from gigs, First To The Barrier for all Trip participants who had GA tickets for the gigs, a shirt for the trip with nice custom artwork, 2 FC parties open to trip members, and a day trip to Long Beach and Hollywood the day after the San Bern gig - all of that was about $700! In Florida in 2011, the Trip party was held at Nicko's restaurant and he showed up to meet everyone on the trip, and he played a mini set of Maiden tunes with some of his buddies also.

They also do some irregular perks - for example, any tour they play Heaven Can Wait on, they run a contest in which a certain number of FC members are brought on stage during the chant section in the middle of the song.

It's that kind of shit that makes a Fan Club innovative and worthwhile in my books, they're always giving everything they can to the fans and in reality, Maiden's FC is about the same price as a Nightrain membership.

Wow, that's a sweet package. Why the hell can't GN'R do that?

Not at all what I expected, obviously plans were changed. Oh well

Shocker. Life probably got in the way.

From ideas to actually implementing took far too long IMO. So many good ideas from a few folks that seemingly disappeared. I hope things work out, they could do so much better going forward, at least they are off to a good start (or restart I guess)

Forget it. Wasted my money on this last time, so it'd be shame on me if they fooled me twice.

Bumblefoot comes across as a solid guy and is great to fans, but that doesn't change the fact that he's a contracted employee of Axl's and is someone I had neither heard of nor was a fan of before he was admitted to GnR.

To his credit, he has been straight and honest with the often difficult, material-starved fans of GnR in saying that only Axl knows if a new release is planned, and that he himself hasn't yet recorded anything new with his boss.

For these reasons, a webcast featuring bbf isn't an incentive at all to re-join, regardless of the cost.

A less charitable hardcore fan might simply say that, with things as they are, we want an interview with substance (if there is any), and that can only come from the organ grinder, not his monkey.

I might be buying soon, just for a new GNR shirt and picks. lol

That said, they should choose another guy. BBF is easily approachable... why not those who hardly do any interviews, much less fan interaction?

Is it too much for Axl to have a 1 hour video chat with fans? Even if its once every 6 months?

Sounds awesome.

As a big GNR fan who has followed the band for quite a few years now, I don't understand why Axl doesn't do interviews or media promoting GNR. With this case, it's not for TV ratings for someones show, or selling someone else's magazine, this is for GNR. GNR is Axl's life. For axl to do a live stream, would mean the site would get 10x as many subscriptions.

Bumblefoot has just done an interview saying he doesn't really fit into GNR and that they bullied him when he joined and the current members don't and wouldn't socialise with him out side of work. Ron's always there for the meet n greets, the live streams .. Time for the other band members to come to the table.

Also, how come Dizzy and Richard are doing loads of tour videos for the dead daisies and meeting loads of fans.. etc but when they tour with GNR there are no backstage/touring videos for them? is it the case that GNR is just the job and side projects are there passion?
