The Axl Rose of old would take a lifetime achievement award as a call to arms to make a statement, going against the grain where the achievement is perceived to be the first ten years of his career (which it largely is) and transforming the occasion to translate to the CD era and the current line up. It's like an MVP(Co MVP of a band) of a sports team not wanting to be acknowledge with his teammates for winning a championship but he'll gladly accept akcnowledgement as the indivual responsible for it.
