Len Cnut
Talk is Cheap - Keith Richards I love this album. I've seen it referred to as The Stones album that should've been but I think it really stands as is as a really good piece of work. You've got the funky carribean flavoured Big Enough (which sounds oddly like Hot Stuff), the brilliant, if slightly 80s sounding, Take It So Hard, the 50s rock n roll doo wop ish Could Have Stood You Up, there's just not a bad track on it, How I Wish is a wonderful wistful love song, they all have these great choruses that leave em knocking around in your head hours later, overall a brilliant piece of work. Good honest rock music, I don't think there's a man alive that brings together these varying disparate strains of post war 20th Century popular music and makes something as authentic sounding as this, it really is top drawer stuff. I think Richards is a groove kinda man and he instinctively goes for musical forms that are groove heavy, like good rock, soul, reggae, funk, everything that he dips his toe in has like...that key aspect of rock/blues to it. Its weird to me (well not really actually) that the guy doesn't identify with hip hop more than he does (which is not at all ) because hip hop is kinda based around that shit. Len Cnut
Elvis Presley - Elvis Presley (i think thats what the debuts called, isn't it?) Its weird how much is made of The Ramones debut album being really short and what a novelty that was...and this albums actually a minute shorter I think.
