No chance of me getting lost on way to or from concert, haha. Haha there's so many of us staying there that I just assume if it does suck that at least we're all in that shit together! Just now, xBrownstonex said: The resort fees: are they mandatory or optional, if i dont need those services? I believe they are mandatory. The only places you don't have to pay for them is the place that don't actually have them (your Travelodges, your Best Values). Everywhere else seems like its gonna have a fee, that you'll have to pay even if you use nothing. At least thats how I understand it. Its just an extra charge that there's no real way around. Yes, they are mandatory even if you don't use any of the things they are allegedly for. You may be able to get them waived if you gamble enough....not sure what or how much that is though, but I do know people have gotten them waived based on their play. Vegas didn't have those 3-4 years ago. And yes- they are charged to everyone. But it is what it is....and yeah- if you do even a little gambling you can get Atleast 1 fee waived. And be sure to get a mLife card if you are at an MGM property.
Gordon Comstock
Not that I procrastinate or anything but I finally got around to booking a hotel room tonight, I'm close to the venue and it was pretty cheap. Hooters Hotel and Casino, here I come!
bbedwards
If anyone is still looking for hotel deals, this is the place to go http://www.travelvegas.com/ Sign up a free account and get GREAT rates. I'm staying Thursday-Monday. I cancelled my original room I had at Bally's ($90/nt) because I found Luxor for $65/nt with 2 free buffets on travelvegas. That rate is gone now (I booked 2 days ago), but still seeing great rates for the same stay ($69/nt at Excalibur, $60/nt Hooters, and Hard Rock, PH, and even MGM are all right around $100/nt). MGM and Excalibur also include the 2 free buffets. Rates are higher for Fri-Sat night, so if you're only staying those nights it'll be higher. And don't forget, most hotel bookings can be cancelled up to 48 hours before the stay! Check your receipt to be sure. If you see a better rate here (or anywhere), book the better rate and cancel your old reservation like I did. Also, be aware that many of the best discounted rates on travelvegas are NO-CANCELLATION. Hope this helps someone out, pretty great rates to be had! Edited April 4, 2016 by bbedwards
oachs83
Quick tip about your hotel stay if staying at MGM resorts. So this past Saturday I drove up to Minneapolis to check out a Gary Clarke Jr. show (must see btw) and stayed at the Hyatt in Minneapolis. Well low and behold because I booked the room through a third party (example: Hotwire, Orbitz, Priceline etc. etc.) they put a frickn' $250 hold on my cash card. Great I am going to flyout to Vegas this Tuesday and staying 4 nights and how many of these "holds" are going to rack up. FYI I am staying at NYNY and Monte Carlo for my trip. So what I have to say seems to only pertain to MGM resorts just so you know, call to make sure if elsewhere. I called to ask what my hold will be on my card and the lady said it is $50 however if you tell them at the front desk you will not need any room service or other extra expenses while in your room not covered by the 'resort fees" they will waive the $50. That was great to hear as I don't get that $250 off till the end of the week according to Hyatt and if they were going to keep racking up cash just to hang onto I was gonna be bummed. So there is a bit of good news just tell them you will not be charging anything to the room, again this was confirmed by NYNY and Monte Carlo. Now I can buy $300 worth of t shirts lol! Nah- This isn't Vegas of yesteryear....its 2016. Free drinks- yes if you are gambling. Go play nickel slots....and always order 2 drinks at a time. And tip a buck a drink. Free buffets- I've been to Vegas 30 times and never even wanted to do a buffet, so no idea. And remember- you can drink anywhere. I always buy a cheap styrofoam cooler for my room and load it with ice and beer. Whenever I leave room I have a beer in hand and my pockets have beer in em too. CardinalGunner
Vegas local here. Non-west coast folks, do yourself a favor and take Trop a short distance to the other side of the freeway and get an In N Out Burger. I'll be at the Friday night show. Enjoy. oachs83
One thing I forgot to mention is I was told there is still free parking the $10 fee is NOT in effect yet. However the night of events at T-Mobile arena they are charging $10 in advance and $20 day of for parking at NYNY, MGM, and Monte Carlo but it is still free if you are staying at the hotel on night of events.
