Some of you just need to understand that Axl will not get his voice back as it was back then.. I think the rasp just happens when it happens.. and for me it doesn't sound like the natural rasp that he had back in 91, 92 and 93. But what do I know? :)

But I love this whole thing that is going on even if it is the same setlist, no rasp and what else you people are complaining about..

I tend to agree with the fact that it doesn't sound natural like in the 90's with 2010 being the exception (he was breathing rasp that year) but. His vocal coach has done an amazing job at helping him regain his original sound. Obviously YCBM, Better, NR, SCOM, and PC he's had trouble with but on songs coming back into the set like My Michelle, and Out Ta Get Me he's sounding like he did in the 80's. Nightrain he's been a monster on and for the most part excluding the songs above he's done really well this tour at hitting the notes and sounding good doing it.

And again 2010 doesn't feel too far away so there is always that hope that he finds that level of rasp again even if it's unreasonable

I agree that his current raspy voice (including the AC/DC shows) is not his 91-93 voice. Not totally different, but not the same either. It doesn't mean it isn't good, it's just different. There are songs though (Out Ta Get Me, Nightrain and parts of others) where his voice is very close, even identical, to his old one.

I think he has control of his voice. Some days it's in better shape than others and he knows it, so he goes for all of it. On the days when he feels it weaker, he goes raspy on selected parts.

I feel/think that way too :) But the problem for some here is that they miss the 91, 92 and 93 Axl a little bit too much and can't accept that he is not 28 anymore ;)

They went on "around" 8:05. Show ended "around" 10:40.

Interestingly enough, as hoards of fans were walking from the stadium on 3rd street, AXL was walking the opposite direction heading back toward the venue. He was escorted by a dozen or more cops. Not sure exactly where he went.

No wonder I heard this big roar like 10 minutes after the show ended and I was already at the parking lot.  I thought maybe they had come back out for a 2nd encore!

I think people are forgetting, or looking at things with 'rose' colored glasses (pun sort of intended), that even in his heyday, his voice has been pretty inconsistent live.  Hell, my wife and I couldn't sit through a '92 show we tried watching the other night because he sounded so strained.   I'm not criticizing him, mind you: as a singer I'm painfully aware that every little damn thing you do (or even don't do.... weather, humidity, being woken up early by a sound and not being able to get back to sleep) effects your vocal chords and makes sounding 'on' every night extremely difficult.  Hell, even a slight strain of your neck or back can wreak havoc on it.  So I'm in awe that he is sounding as good as he is sounding even on the 'off' nights on this tour, at his age, how long these shows are, and how difficult these songs are to sing.

Also, I never thought, even back in the day, that he sang "Sweet Child" very good live.  Even the 88 Ritz show doesn't sound wonderful.

I have to ask. You said you are a singer, are you in a band or solo? Anything that is or has been pop culture popular?

I am solo.  I am currently animating (literally right now) a fully-orchestrated rock opera that is fully written and recorded (excepting a couple of vocal parts), which my producers will work on selling when it's complete.  I've not done anything of note pop-culturally excepting a couple of very close brushes with success in the form of being managed for a short while by the guy who broke Meatloaf's career in the "Bat Out of Hell" days (he also manages/managed The Fugees, Black Eyed Peas, Joan Osbourn, Space Hog, and a ton of others), and, more interestingly to this forum, I was auditioned to sing for Velvet Revolver a good while before it actually became VR and which, at the time, at least according to one of the phone conversations I had with Duff at the time (which little did he know I was jumping up and down like a little school girl while talking to him because... well... huge fan!), included Izzy (he wrote and recorded the 3 songs I got to write with them as part of the audition).

So.... a couple of brushes, but so far I've been quite impressively unsuccessful! But, hey, that's life! ;)

IMO that YCBM sounds great!! Especially that part after the guitar solo when Axl continues to sing is aggressive, love it!

Also loving that smile Axl makes after screaming "I wanna hear you fuckers scream" on WTTJ! :D

That is awesome.  The quality of some of these videos really amazes me.  I'm very thankful to the people shooting these and love how in this day and age my concert going experience can extend so far beyond just the shows I attend.  It really enhances the whole thing!

I'm sure this has been addressed elsewhere, but I really wonder what in the hell Melissa is doing during this, and the overwhelming majority of the other songs outside of holding her hands on what I assume is a muted keyboard and bouncing around.  I mean, give the girl a bongo or something so it at least makes me feel like she's contributing to the music in some way.  I get what she offers on songs like November rain and This I love, but on most of the others I just don't get it.

Anyone see The Struts?? How were they?

I want to see them live.

As much as I wanted to like them, they were just OK to me.  But to their credit, I do have one of their songs in my head this morning

His voice has normal ups and downs imo. Houston was a bit like Philly 2012, a very, very good day for him.Perhaps he pushed a bit to hard there, and sounded weaker last night as a consequence. Then, perhaps he had a cold like he had with AC/DC.

With AC/DC he had people worried with a few off nights and bounced back beautifully. I think he really knows what he is doing and how to pace himself now.
