Blackstar
Oddly enough, November Rain sounds better when he's having throat problems. 2 minutes ago, slash was buckethead said: “ I’m having throat issues” plays coma It seems that it's his therapy/anger releasing song.
cineater
I don't know about the range and stuff but what I'm hearing is he's dropping out of singing at points and talking, can't reach and finish the note. He's singing softer in parts. He's not total shit but this has to be hurting his voice. He's not sick either.
ChristianGNR
I don’t think he has full recovered since Dublin 2022, to be honest.

Blackstar
I don't think that was good. It was very unhealthy "rasp". Don't Cry was rough, too. Edited September 7, 2023 by Blackstar

slash was buckethead
The amount of times Axl has gone to his table and appeared to be talking to the crew, makes me think someone is losing a job tonight .

No I don't think so. The only problem tonight was Axl's voice. He knows it's him, he told us. So what was with that fan who looked like he was getting arrested? Looked like they had zip ties on him, not just escorting him out.
Heather14
Was he mad at himself about his voice or the sound system? He had kinda angry-80's-Axl vibe tonight and I enjoyed it. Edited September 7, 2023 by Heather14

Blackstar
Axl made a comment about Freddie Mercury and the movie Bohemian Rhapsody showing sing in his low voice as "not singing" or something like that: https://streamable.com/vp1u0j How many people saw Bohemian Rhapsody? You saw the movie? You know, Freddie is my favorite singer and it’s my favorite band. And I loved the movie, I loved that they made him (knowable?) to everyone. But when they start to move if off into bullshit, like him coughing and going to (?). Like, he has AIDS- but he didn't have AIDS then. So then later in the show, they have him powering through the songs (?) singing in his low voice and they're using real vocals. The thing is, Freddie never sang fucking highs (?) live. That was real, he sang in the lows, and that’s why I didn’t listen to their live shows when I was a fucking kid. (?) I’m just saying, Hollywood will tell you anything. Can someone help with the transcription? Edited September 8, 2023 by Blackstar 2

ObsessionofVanity
I saw GNR literally fucktons of times between 2010-2016. Then I saw them again in 2018 before I joined the Army and hadn't since. I think taking a few years off was a good move, I've never been to a show beyond my first one where the setlist had so many songs I'd not heard live before. Yeah his vocals could be better, we've said that since 2011, and 2001 before that really, but I had an absolute blast. If tonight was my last ride, I can honestly say it was a great one. Edit: But I'm still chasing There Was A Time Edited September 7, 2023 by ObsessionofVanity
agustingloger
If you told me in 2008-2012 that we would have AXL SLASH and DUFF playing all these songs 01. It's So Easy 02. Bad Obsession 03. Chinese Democracy 04. Slither 05. Mr. Brownstone 06. Reckless Life 07. Hard Skool 08. Pretty Tied Up 09. Perhaps 10. Welcome to the Jungle 11. Absurd 12. Double Talkin' Jive 13. Anything Goes 14. Down On The Farm 15. Estranged I would laugh my ass off. Appetite-Lies-UYI-The spaghetti-Chinese-Reworked Chinese songs . Literally songs from all their catalogue (i know it's short) and i love it. 2023 is the first year they play songs from all their discography¡? I think it's pretty cool. And say whatever you want about the setlist but since 2016 they played pretty much everything Edited September 7, 2023 by agustingloger

It's another thing that makes a show unique. He doesn't do it nearly as much these days. As for what he said, it was hard to understand everything because of the audio, but he definitely did say that Freddie Mercury wouldn't go for high notes live. From what I remember when I went through their entire discography, he didn't go for highs on their first live album, but did on all of the others and sounded great. I feel like most performances that I've seen, in general, he would go for the highs too.
