have we got an offical announcement or is it via somewhere else?

I read it on a local StL news site, but evidently emails have been going out to ticket holders. I was just going to buy them at the gate tomorrow to save on fees since they were almost $100 for three tix on the website.

In a worst case scenario, Axl can use the baritone while Melissa handles the higher notes. That’s not exactly a terrible option if it ever gets to that point. Melissa is a talented vocalist.

or maybe we can have Iz/Gilby back in the band singing back up and not have Melissa in the band at all....

Did he puke on stage or something?

Funny. In June people on this forum were praising axl's voice after the first few shows and how much it progressed comparing to last year. Now we're back to being shit all over.

Rest asured that I wasn't.

All in all we shouldn't be surprised by this. Axl has always sung in a certain way that nobody else did, basically he invented his own way of singing without proper education or lessons aside from the choir he was in when he was a kid. He sang in the highest intensity for god knows how long. It's very logic to see the results as they are today, as he basically just Injured his vocal chords for years on end. I don't think there are many people who know how to properly help/teach Axl how to sing better or maintain his voice cuz there ain't something like that. I've never heard any vocal specialist explain exactly what Axl does and how he does it, some came close but no. And we are so entitled to this tremendous voice but forget how demanding it is for he who sings it, and that it's also his own torture in some way. Cuz he wants to sing like before but just simply can't and yeah with age catching up, 3 hour shows, long tours... I am glad he wants to give over 100% for the attendees every night.

Hey, I don't doubt that he wants to be able to do a strong falsetto... I doubt that he has sat down and looked at why he can't do it. A lot of musicians want to do X and y but when it comes to spending their free time practicing they never do it. Axl is trying that much we can all see, and nobody is great every night and I think most accept that hearing roars like the 90s or 2010/16s are just not on the cards. He can sing powerful with clean falsetto though, will he? Unlikely without seeking assistance and working on it for a few months, and then maintaining the practice regimen.

I don't know what's happening to him, so I'm just going to trust in the professional voice coaches that have spoke about where he's at. I'm 100% not qualified to say what it is and isn't true.

To me listening to PTU is still a little jarring. It's especially weird that he decides to go up for the outro and sounds pretty good... End of the day, nobody likes the weak voice, but it's a minority that want to hear these songs sang in his lower range... The majority will always want to hear him in that high range good or bad. This is especially the case when he decides to sing in lower ranges and doesn't know how to navigate the melody... Either rehearse it, or sing it badly the way you know how to do it IMO.

The true answer to all of this is some place in the middle.

I don't know, but I don't trust these youtube "diagnoses" so much, even if they are by professionals. Youtubers, even if they are "experts" are looking to create content, and, although a vocal coach is not a doctor, a "diagnosis" from afar doesn't look to me like a professional thing to do.

Anyway, everyone have their own opinions and preferences. Given the current shape of Axl's voice, some prefer the baritone voice (I definitely do), some want him to use falsetto even if it's as weak as it is now. I doubt though that the latter are the majority, at least as far as hardcore fans are concerned. As for casuals, two or three years ago I would agree that they would prefer to hear the songs sung high even if it was "mickey", but I'm not so sure about now that the falsetto is barely audible.

This is my previous favourite reunion take....great camera work too!

Wow! That was amazing, pretty much perfect. I can’t imagine he would have sung it any better than that in his whole career. 7 years ago though, so I guess that’s a very long time in a vocalists life. Thanks for posting - I really enjoyed listening to it

Did they fill the arena in Lexington?

Yes. I was there as well as Charlotte and both arenas were packed. Not sure if they were sold out, but the crowds in the upper bowl in both arenas were full.

On the subject of Axl’s vocals, I was front and center for the Lexington show and could tell he was having vocal issues. The first hour wasn’t too noticeable, but definitely the 2nd hour he was struggling. There was a moment on stage where Axl seemed out of breath or couldn’t sustain a note, and he gave a serious eye roll. Right after that he addressed the crowd and told everyone he was sick. After that he sang Estranged in baritone to help preserve his voice. And it sounded every bit as good as you would imagine (in fact I’ve always enjoyed Axl’s baritone and wished he utilized it more). He seemed to pace himself and actually still sang Live And Let Die with the usual energy and scream we all know. And the 3rd hour was pretty good vocally. I told my friend after the show it wouldn’t surprise me if they cancelled or postponed the next show.  I just hope he’s better before Knoxville, as that is my last show for the tour.
