We know the truth but if that's what they want to say, who cares...helps the brand promo a bit. Also we don't know what they might of been doing to tracks this year ....if Axl and Slash "were listening to mixes" as we know from the source that was in there with them....be a bit weird if it was tracks put down 3 years ago....sounds like they've at least done something this year to listen back to as they left for the road....that's a logical conclusion....

Yeah it's a huge stretch of the truth, but why they did it this way is obvious. End of the day, it's just good when they release something so this white lie isn't spoiling things, just thought it was funny

The band’s website is reiterating the same thing the press statement from yesterday said: that perhaps was “written and recorded this year.”

Maybe this song really was done separately from the other five or six songs they supposedly did during Covid? Maybe atlas was originally supposed to be paired with the general? Would explain why there’s rumblings of atlas coming out in November.

Oh don't worry, only mildly curious!

I'll keep my ears open.

Look on all the rock radio twitter's (X's) I'm sure it will get some play and a little push even if just for today, as come on its GNR! They don't do this often....normal radio no. Rock will play it more

Listening on Spotify through nice speakers. Mix sounds great.

Brain drums sound nice and huge, mixed spaciously. Wonder when they were done?

In the bridge there's an ascending synth line? Dizzy or Caram?

Chorus lower vocals are cool. Very TWAT.

Solo is still the what the fuck moment, I'll never get used to it.

I love Slash's solo though. Nice phase or flange on it?

Duff's rumbling bass underneath it.

Duff's bass is so heavy. Great stuff.

Last verse really sounds clearer the way they've processed the vocals.

Still in doubt there's any major new vocals aside from the lower notes on the chorus. Where are people hearing Duff singing? I know he's credited but I'm not hearing him.

Overall I think it rocks. It's a really tight song and catchy!

I never heard Hard Skool on the radio once though, so be interesting to see if this gets played more.

This has a bit more of a push tho and an actual video....more articles....a cluster fuck build up is a given but more deliverance on release day with this one than anything since 2008...I'm out for now. Enjoy the threads folks!

Song is growing on me in it's final form!

I really didn't like the chorus from the village, I think it's MUCH better now (no "safe me" and the demon voice louder in the mix).

Slash's stuff is good.

The only thing that could be improved would be a better ending, it just stops. :D

But I get it, everything is said and it ends.

Music video on day 1, YES, YES, YES! Love it!!

And the general around the corner? Great news!

Love this, Cheers GnR!!

I went thorough the two versions, comparing each vocal line to each other. I might have picked up a difference in how he translates the first "feels" between the two versions but except for that I am 100% certain it is the same main vocal track except for the very final ending and how he sustains the final tone more in the released version. Obviously, the vocals have been processed somewhat differently. Then the official version has a less muddled chorus, partly because the lead guitar which played high tones which crashed with the vocals is now gone, but also because the 'save me' part has been removed and because a new vocal track where Axl sings with the demon voice is either added (or just mixed higher) to separate the call and response.

Love that final drum roll in to the chorus.

Yep! Maybe my favorite part of the entire song!

I think the synt is Duffs singing
