Popular Post jacdaniel
I am loving every minute of this tour so far. I don't mind at all that izzy and Steven are not involved. The setlist is awesome. The only that irritates me a bit is Richard. I think his stage presence / moves are really overbearing and a bit cheesy... The big powerful guitar strikes and holding his guitar high above his head. Spinning in circles.. it looks a bit lame and unGuns n Roses to me. He also seems to showboat quite a bit when Slash is soloing. I don't think that him and Slash have great chemistry together. I think Slash plays better with a more chilled out rhythm player beside him. What do yous think?

Just need to turn him down in the mix, at times he is over-bearing in the sound mix, in my opinion. love his energy, great player...level him off in the mix and its the next best thing to having Izzy there imo. If you have a problem with how Slash is playing, blame it on the tempo of the songs, not his rhythm guitarist. Popular Post Babooshka
It's true they don't have much chemistry, but then I don't really care or expect them to. Izzy will always be the perfect match for Slash. His vibe is more chill and he's more effortless than Richard.
Changes
YES! Izzy needs to come back. Axl can keep the rest of the Nu guys, Richard's actually the worst fit for me at this point. No need for all that show off and bare chest as a stand in.
superloconoriega
i was at the show yesterday, and just like i said on my review , I AGREE 100%. I love Richard and i think he was a great fit for some past versions of the band, but when he's doing those spins right next to slash and duff who are just feeling the song it comes across very motley crew-esque and really distracting. This was so noticeable during Nightrain, couldnt stand it!
Changes
Considering the dude has contributed nothing to rock history it just feels like he is acting out his rockstar dream just like he has probably done since he was a kid in front of his bedroom mirror. john lennon
Then again, who gives a shit really? Let the dude act out whatever rock star dreams he has and enjoy the music. Or something like that.
Popular Post James Bond
I love Richard's playing. As mentioned he was a bit too loud at the earlier shows but so far the Mexico gigs seem to be better balanced. Something to consider is that Richard comes from the Malcolm Young school of tone - almost clean with just enough bite to break into a light overdrive. The result is a guitar tone that is remarkably full but crystal clear. The sheer frequencies of a tone like that will cut through any mix more so than say Slash who likes his drive nice and dirty. From there, it's up to the sound guy to get the balance right and that always seems to take a few shows for any band. His posing doesn't bother me much. He seems like he's having fun unlike say Ashba whose forced poses came across as trying to look cool to distract from his awful guitar playing. I like that he doesn't have a solo spot in the set (an awareness that people are there to see Slash shred and not him) but still has some chances to shine. The jam on Rocket Queen is pretty cool and him and Slash doing the Floyd cover is a nice touch. He's a fantastic overall player and I think him and Slash really respect one another.

Popular Post The Glow Inc.
Dude had to refuse gigs with David Bowie and Nine Inch Nails before...I think he's pretty comfortable regarding his career. Richard moves too much for your taste ? At this point, all the complaining really starts to sound like confirmation bias : you are ruining your own experience and it's frankly hilarious.
Un42nutzly
Richard Fortus is the best! He is incredibly talented and his versatility seems to go unbeknownst with many GN'R fans. He meshes with Slash perfectly.

Popular Post xBrownstonex
Seriously, these discussions are so fucking stupid and makes you look like ungrateful spoiled brats. If 2016 has shown us anything, than that it can be over at any time. Look at all the grand musicians dying. We should be grateful that we still have the opportunity to see this band live and that all of them are well and alive. It's all that matters. And not if Richard is fucking moving too much on stage Edited April 21, 2016 by xBrownstonex
shjtjustgotreal
jesus fuck why do we still have threads like this? expect some rock guitarist to chill on stage is the dumbest fucking thing ive ever heard some of us have to deal with frank, so some of you will have to deal with fortus

Jeramy213
Richard is without a doubt the next best thing to Izzy and maybe an even better choice at this point in time. He's an undeniably amazing musician. He plays with a ton of emotional energy and I myself think he has a really cool stage presence. He's put in the time and effort to earn his place in GN'R and totally deserves to be a part of all this. SoulMonster
It might be a tad too much next to Slash and Duff but his skills trumps it all. Maybe Slash and Duff should rock out more?

That's probably part of the issue for Axl, he always wanted someone who could put more energy into the shows. Weren't they talking about cutting his pay on the UYI tour for not moving around enough? mikebones
I like everything he does on stage. Those furious movements kinda Pete Townshend... I also think slash and Fortus have chemistry. Every musician has their own way to live the song I don't think because of the way Fortus moves on stage irritates slash or duff.
Mendez
I like his energy onstage. I dont agree with turning him down in the mix, then you have a very empty sounding mix, much like how the UYI shows sounded. It sounded like Slash was the only guitar player, while Izzy was there doing nothing
