Gordon Comstock
Nice album. Highlights after one listen are Here Ever After, The Great Apes, One Way Traffic and The Heavy Wing. It's great to hear John back with RHCP but I gotta say Chad Smith sounds great on this record too. I'll be playing it for a while.
rocknroll41
I had a Top 5 songs on this post but I removed cause I can’t make plans my mind cause all these songs are too good… Incredible album man… Edited March 27, 2022 by rocknroll41
Gordon Comstock
It's Only Natural is another highlight. It's a good album overall - Poster Child and Not The One are 2 of the weakest songs on the album and shouldn't have been singles.
rocknroll41
Here Ever After, Aquatic Mouth Dance and She’s A Lover should’ve been the singles (in that order). Maybe even Bastards Of Light too. Edited March 27, 2022 by rocknroll41
Mr MacPhisto
Not been on this forum for years, had to login and say this album is excellent. Here ever after should be a single, not a weak song. The single choices are baffling when you listen to the whole album.

Poster Child works really well. I'm the same, but there are stronger songs than the 3 they released. I still love them, but better single choices on the album.
Shacklers Absolution
The Heavy Wing, yes
rocknroll41
Okay I’ve now had time to digest the album better and can confidently say that my Top 5 are The Heavy Wing, Here Ever After, Bastards of Light, White Braids and She’s A Lover, with my honorable mentions being Its Only Natural (it’s great but it’s a ripoff of Say It Right by Nelly Furtado) and Veronica (the opening line is a little strange). As far as ranking all the albums goes now, I think it’s just best to do it like this: Frusciante (2nd era > 3rd era > 1st era) Navarro Klinghoffer Slovak/Sherman More specifically: 1.Californication 2.By the Way 3.Stadium Arcadium 4.Unlimited Love 5.Blood Sugar 6.Mother’s Milk 7.One Hot Minute 8.The Getaway 9.I’m With You 10.I’m Beside You 11.The Uplift 12.Freaky Styley 13.Self-Titled I’ve been waiting for an album like this for so long. I’m still thankful for Josh’s records, but man thank fuck John came back! Edited March 28, 2022 by rocknroll41
EvanG
After a few spins I think that this is a good record, but not great. Too much filler on it for it to be great, but that was to be expected. Maybe I'll change my opinion after listening to it more, but I don't think it's as good as Californication or By The Way, but I doubt they will ever top those records anyway. Still a solid effort with some really great songs on it that shows that they can still make magic together. PS, I don't mind Anthony rapping, but his flows on ''One Way Traffic'' sound like something off a DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince record...
Coma16
Here Ever After and The Heavy Wing are sublime
rocknroll41
I think I agree that One Way Traffic is the weakest song (catchy chorus tho). Edited March 27, 2022 by rocknroll41
Gordon Comstock
I like One Way Traffic. The lyrics are stupid but it's a fun, catchy song.
rocknroll41
Veronica is growing on me a lot now too. That one might be one of my new favorites now. Also One Way Traffic is starting to become more of a guilty pleasure.
Dean
My conclusion is that I fucking love Not The One and that I think it's the standout of the entire album. White Braids and Pillow Chair was another standout. Will give it another go today at some point.
Coma16
Not the One is amazing, but I understand why some were disappointed with it being a single.

Yeah it works much better in the context of the album. Same with Black Summer and Poster Child.
Mr MacPhisto
Bastards of light is my current favourite today, changes with each listen.
rocknroll41
Now that I’ve listened to UL several times, I can kinda see why the band calls it a double album. Tracks 1-8 are kinda different from tracks 9-17. In case anyone is interested in the band’s schedule: March 31st: New music video (These Are the Ways), Walk of Fame induction April 1st: Official album release and Jimmy Kimmel performance Some other time in April: Howard Stern show Early June: Start of the tour Edited March 29, 2022 by rocknroll41
StrangerInThisTown
Damn I'm late, all links for the leak are dead. Guess I'm the April Fool and have to wait for the 1st Edited March 29, 2022 by StrangerInThisTown
rocknroll41
I like These Are the Ways but I think it’s a strange choice for the next single. Oh well. At least the rest of the world will have the whole album soon.

Arguably the album's strongest track.

I guess they were worried that if they released that one early it would make the rest of the record look bad?

The great thing about this album is that it hits all the marks and each song seems to be someone's favorite. So refreshing, maybe the best album since FF's Wasting Light
rocknroll41
I don’t know how, but somehow the band is gonna be on Fallon AND Kimmel both on Friday now! Edited April 1, 2022 by rocknroll41
