Did you really like this thing?

I think its a muture album with beautiful melodies.

Much more laid back and a really happy feel to it.

It sounds to me like they had a great time making it.

I felt that JF took over stadium arcadium too much at times.

I'm very glad he has cut back on the falsetto backing vocals - he went way overboard with that on SA.

I like the more stripped back sound they've gone with - closer in feel to Californication at times than anything else they've done.

Of course there's songs I don't love (it's not a perfect album!) but overall I'm enjoying the feel of it.

My thoughts exactly. I keep listening to UL on repeat and I’m pretty sure I like it better than SA now.

Look Around and Hump De Bump better than Black Summer? Are you for real?

I’d agree on the basis of Anthony’s accent in Black Summer alone

just noticed Turn it Again being at the bottom - troll list!

One Way Traffic is one of the worst songs they've made in the last 20 years IMO.

I like Look Around more than Black Summer too. Incredibly funky and I love Josh's vocal part.

This.

And c’mon for whoever complained about Black Summer… Its a good song but that fake accent?! Hump de Bump and Look Around both kill it! Look Around has an amazing bass line and RHCP is bass-fronted band, man.

there is more to a song than just 1 instrument though, even if it is a prominent instrument in the band's sound played by a brilliant musician. Goes without saying, but all of this shit is subjective.

I agree. I do think it’s an all-around great song though. Just pointing out it’s got a top-notch Flea moment I kinda miss in these new songs. I think the best bass line I can think of in UL is It’s Only Natural perhaps? Might be forgetting something.

I feel so different. I straight up tell people, only joking a little bit, that RHCP is about the backing vocals!

To me, By the Way is John taking over too much (still a great album, just a bit too pretty for what I want from RHCP). SA is a good balance for me, with John being very prominent but it still feeling like the band’s effort. He’s one of my favorite musicians. That’s why this album disappoints me, but at the same time I do enjoy that I can clearly hear how much of a band effort this album is.

Yeah, I've said this before, the only thing that disappoints me a little bit is the lack of Frusciante goodies on the record.
Not saying there aren't some cool guitar moments, but compared to the other records it is lacking.
Not really memorable licks or riffs, apart from maybe a few.
Lot of the solos are just guitar feedback or some generic pentatonic noodling.
Still love the guy and all, but I was hoping for a bit more.

I’m giving UL a fifth listen and I gotta say I kinda overdid it on the hate lol. It’s still the weakest album they put out since I started following them but it’s not a BAD album. There are some pretty awful songs and it lacks a top notch RHCP anthem (Black Summer is the best moment and it’s not THAT good) but it’s a fun listening experience. My main critique is still up, though: fans have waited for a John album for years. Kind of a let down to put out an album with such timid guitar moments.

I'd say Here Ever After is the best 'anthem' moment, it's catchy as hell. I'm surprised they released These Are The Ways as a single before it.

And, I know this stuff is subjective, but...

Really sad to see Animal Bar at 26. Would be Top 5 in that list for me.

They’re confirmed to be replacing Foo Fighters at the New Orleans festival now, so I expect the same will happen with Boston Calling and the Daytona festival (though rumor has it that Swedish House Mafia is also on standby for both).

I also assumed they’d replace Kanye at Coachella, but that spot ended up going to The Weeknd.

I wonder what’ll happen to all the Euro and SA festivals that Foo were supposed to do, though. GnR, RHCP and SHM are all booked from June onward. I guess all those festivals will just go on without headliners those nights?

Thanks. Just checked and it looks like NIN is replacing them at Rockville Daytona as well, and Megan Thee Stallion is listed as the headliner for their date at Beale Street. So I guess the only date RHCP is filling in for is New Orleans.

Wonder if Axl will run into Robin at Daytona.
