Part of my boredom during Corona has led me to pull out my tickets stubs and go through them. I was surprised at how many times I’d seen some bands multiple times..Over 25 years of concerts I’ve seen:

Neil Young x 16

The Stones x 15

Therapy? x 22

The Pogues or Shane MacGowan solo x 17

Black Sabbath x 13

Iron Maiden x 7

Motörhead x 8

Sex Pistols x 5

Jesus Lizard x 5

DKT/MC5 or MC50  x 7

Mudhoney x 8

Stiff Little Fingers x 8

AC/DC x 8

Guns N Roses x 6

REM x 7

Primal Scream x 7

Oasis x 5

The Who x 5

Megadeth x 5

Slayer x 4

If you’d asked me pre ticket counting, I would have said I seen half of those shows..I’d completely forgotten say seeing Neil Young 4 Times in one year. Twice!!!

What bands have you seen multiple times and will always go see as long as they tour?

The Stones 15 times?! Fuck, that'd buy you an extension to your house!!!

Queen + - Twice

Guns N' Roses - Eight times

Future Islands - Twice

I caught Jeff Lynne's triumphant return at Hyde Park which was a music festival, so I also seen Blondie, Billy Ocean, Chrissie Hynde, Gregory Porter among others!

The Darkness - Twice

Manic Street Preachers - Once

Greta Van Fleet - Once

I'm not into Biffy Clyro at all, but seen them a couple of times opening for Guns.

AC/DC - Once, though hope to see them again with Jonner. I seen them with Ol' Ginger Bollocks fronting them

Travis - Once

The Cult - Once

That's all that is coming to me just now

I’m talking bands you’ve seen multiple times only, individual gigs I’ve been to over 400...

The stones do a lucky dip option, 2 tickets for $50... You can get a $600 ticket or a $75 ticket in the dip, and thus be anywhere in the stadium. but I’ve mostly gotten tickets in the $250- $600 range. The last “run” of stones gigs I went on was in 2018, I went to the first 5 shows on the European tour and I spent about £200 in total on tickets. Ryanair flights make it easy and cheap to follow tours in Europe.

The 2 Stones shows I’ve saw since in Seattle and outside Toronto cost me $50 for tickets and I got the highest price ticket for Toronto and talked my way into pit standing in Seattle also. Plus as the tickets come in pairs, if you know someone else who bought them queue together and if they pull better than you, go with their ticket and if you pull better they go with you. I wish GNR would do the same.

There might be some I'm forgetting, and there's some local bands I've seen multiple times too, but this is my list:

GNR - 12 times (7x 2010-14, 5x from 2016-now)

Motley Crue - 5 times

Alice In Chains - 4 times

Godsmack - 4 times

Alice Cooper - 3 times

Sebastian Bach - 3 times (should've been 4, fuckin covid...)

Yelawolf - 3 times

Monster Truck - 3 times

In Flames - 3 times

Aerosmith - twice

Foxy Shazam - twice

Buckethead - twice

Zakk Wylde - twice (one acoustic show, once with BLS)

edit: some I forgot earlier,

Shinedown twice (the first time I thought they were pretty good, the 2nd time I was up close and it felt a lot more choreographed)

Buckcherry 3 times (once at Crue Fest, once in a small arena, then a few years ago I got a free ticket to see them in a theatre)

Royal Blood twice (opening for GNR)

Motorhead & My Bloody Valentine were without doubt the loudest bands I saw live. The bit in “You made me realize” where they do the white noise thing on that one chord is almost intolerable.... My ears would whistle for at least a day or two each time I saw Motorhead...

Fuck man, that’s pretty cool. I bought a ticket to see them in Stockholm which cost £300 but I ended up not being able to make it. When they played Murrayfield, I seen that the general admission was £90, I wish I’d seen them now just to tick them off but I’ll hopefully catch them next time.

Off the top of my head, the bands I've seen the most are something like this:

Cheap Trick - 41 or 42

Velvet Revolver - 14

KISS - 12

Alice Cooper - 11

Guns N' Roses (all incarnations) - 10

Ace Frehley - 10

The Kills - 9

Stone Temple Pilots - 8

Slash solo - 8 or 9 or something

Aerosmith - 7

Motley Crue - 6

Paul McCartney - 5

Jane's Addiction - 5  (twice with Duff!)

The Raconteurs - 5

after that, there are tons of bands in the 2/3/4 range.

Another question:

Whats the best band you’ve seen in a random way?

I once walked into a tent at a festival in 2001, purely to get out of the rain and the band onstage were killer, I remember thinking “another great band who no one will ever hear” anyways it was the white stripes...
