Stiff Competition

Seeing the Menzingers with Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties (which is the side project of the Wonder Years' singer) next Saturday, and then the Wonder Years in full on September 4th which I'm super excited for. I also caught Coheed and Cambria two weeks ago for their first headlining arena show ever which was special as fuck, they were amazing and the crowd energy was unreal too.

Saw Duran Duran a couple weeks ago in Toronto. They always deliver.

Seeing The Killers in Montreal near the end of September and Johnny Marr is opening which is a bonus.

Iron Maiden in October in Hamilton.

Then that's probably it for the year. As years go by and ticket prices continue to rise (in addition to merch, beer, travel, etc...) I find myself being far more selective these days.

There's a handful of artists I still really want to see live that I've never seen. I'd buy tickets for them without thinking twice.

Those are Billy Joel, The Teskey Brothers and Alestorm. I also kind of regret not seeing Green Day a few months ago, so I might pick up tickets for them too if they come back.

We've got Ringo Starr next Thursday then Jack White the Monday after that.

In October we've got Weird Al Yankovic followed by Stevie Nicks.

Just got out of the Ringo show. I had a lot more fun than I expected. Next up: Jack White on Monday!

Fontains DC in November - taking my 14 year old son

caught them here in NYC in April - they rule live, enjoy

highlight of the year (so far, but it's not getting topped let's be real) for me was going to all 5 nights of Rage Against the Machine at Madison Square Garden. A dream come true, in the realest sense of the term. @Powerage5 I saw your post in that thread and kinda get where you're coming from, but the charity tickets, a sense of Zack isn't really a cash-grab kind of guy although who's to say for certain, and the level of performance outdid any feeling of that for me. anyone else catch them this year?

other shit for 2022:

10/6 - Kikagaku Moyo

10/18 - Slift

10/21 - Iron Maiden

11/29 - Pond

Sometime in december - LCD Soundsystem

You're lucky to have seen Ringo. He cancelled some shows due to him having Covid. Hope he is okay soon. The man is over 80. Bless him.

He's fine. He rescheduled dates earlier this year when someone in his touring group. Like everyone else now, he rescheduled his dates and moved on with the tour just fine.

Totally get that - I'm not saying the whole thing felt like this massive cash grab, there were just a few elements that sort of rubbed me the wrong way a bit. The event shirts is a great example, they seem like the antithesis of a band that should be doing event shirts  I did really enjoy them still though, they're a band I never thought I'd get to see live.
