DublinPaul
Just rewatching it again on iPlayer. First time I noticed sound levels being off was on WTTJ, hopped over to YouTube to see if I could find one uploaded from the audience, and it was all there with no sound levels issues. Irish Rose
Not sure if this has been discussed yet, but did Duff look a little “out of it” on stage? He looked dazed. Also, Slash was drooling during a couple of songs!
AtlasShrugged
Not to contradict anyone, but the line some have said about Axl's weaker high end voice being the issue not coming through the mic - it doesn't explain why you can't hear him at the start of It's So Easy. You also can't hear McBob for the intro. And Duff's bass. Clearly his higher vocal isn't as strong and doesn't cut through as easily but seems to me there was an issue with the mic/sound desk as well.

Yes....I thought Slash was concentrating hard but Duff looked quite stone faced...almost over-aw'd a little...you could say at the magnitude. He only seemed to totally relax during PC with Davey Grohl. 8 minutes ago, AtlasShrugged said: Not to contradict anyone, but the line some have said about Axl's weaker high end voice being the issue not coming through the mic - it doesn't explain why you can't hear him at the start of It's So Easy. Check audience recording. TV mix different to FOH...right?

Maybe that was just relief they'd reached the end of the set without major problems. The other band members seeming subdued might just be the result of a high stress moment. We just said the same thing re: Dave appearance. Yes...imagine the others sans Axl keep up with social media and what's being said...it was written all over their faces at moments. No need! You guys nailed it, pretty much. You can understand the stress of this "just another gig" though 😉

To be fair it's probably not a bad thing TV wasn't too high at times. It probably saved a few tough vocal moments. Re-watching it now on TV and don't think last night was a few beers and an exaggeration, really was a great performance!

I think they all knew how important that was last night- Melissa seemed a bit off aswell and couldn’t really hear her vocals which was a shame ‘cause she’s got a great voice that compliments Axls. anyhoo, I’m watching again with more beers.

Popular Post James Bond
Vocals aside, that has got to be one of Axl's best physical performances of the last several years, maybe even ever. It was like watching 1990s Axl and he's bloody 61! He looked like he was having a blast and it's to hear him speaking a lot more again. I got chills when he was doing things like getting the crowd to clap on Rocket Queen and introducing the band. The guy still has charisma in spades and that more than makes up for the vocals. The restructured set is great and, despite the sound mix issues, it's nice that Duff and Melissa are doing a lot more to strengthen some choruses and help him out when needed. It's a very professional looking show. The vocals are what they are. I think we know Axl is doing everything possible at this stage, but anybody who doesn't follow the band might find it a bit jarring at the extremes of the Mickey as it were. That's to be expected. I like Frank but have always hated the way his drums were mixed and how much compression was in the live mix versus when you hear him in the soundcheck and/or side stage footage. Finally I thought things were sounding great on his end. Really adds a lot more cohesion to the band as a whole. Nice to hear a shorter version of Rocket Queen too.

I just don't feel like I have much to say. My connection to the band more-or-less died years ago. I still love music, and nowadays I listen to so many different artists and genres, but the way I loved Guns N' Roses when I was a teenager was different, it was so intense. I basically lived on this forum, I travelled to other countries on my own to see them, they were a huge part of my identity, when people criticised them, I felt it personally. For various reasons, I feel pretty distant from GN'R these days, but that stream tonight reminded me a little of what it felt like when they were the coolest and most important band in the world for me. I think they did themselves proud and I'm glad they're doing well. I can really relate to this. I was a massive fan as a kid and there wasn't a band that came close but my excitement has dwindled over the years when the release of Chinese became further and further in the past and it was obvious there was nothing on the horizon and then NuGuns well and truly collapsed. I had an utter blast watching the live stream last night though and it was huge amounts of fun and gave me a lot of nostalgia for 2006-2010. It brought back memories of seeing them at Reading and how utterly stoked I was as I had tickets to see them Wembley in '06 but couldn't go in the end and was utterly gutted so it was a lot of built up anticipation! The Birmingham show later that year was superb as well and Hellfest in 2012 was a lot of fun. I've become disabled since then and so big open air gigs aren't really doable but if going to a show ever works out it'd be fun to see the reunited lineup. I feel lucky that I got to see GN'R live in two of the best Axl vocal eras (2010 and Axl/DC). The Glasto stream was a lovely bit of nostalgia and I've been playing a lot of GN'R stuff for the first time in ages! Axl was on fire last night and it's great that there's been a live stream that was a resounding success (I remember RIR 2011 ) and whilst the Reading footage was brilliant, the curfew/power getting cut stuff seemed to dominate the media. Axl once again proved he's the best frontman out there in terms of presence. Duff really stood out for me - that guy's a machine, didn't miss a beat the whole show. stezmacc
Just rewatching from last night and is it me or does Richard seem really pissed off lately like he’d rather been anywhere other than on stage.

I thought Richard was showing the most relaxed enthusiasm bar Axl. Guess we all perceive things differently.

Right. Because making the money of his life, not having to worry about a thing, basically being on paid vacation and playing to the biggest crowds in his life is hell. Geez. The things you interpret in whatever you see. Also they hold him hostage and he can't opt out any time that all becomes too hellish for him.
Tyson
The Paradise City vid was, overall, well shot and looked cool. Axl's vocals were a bit too low in the mix (perhaps intentionally). I don't like how he sings over Slash's initial solo in the beginning Edited June 25, 2023 by Tyson

I thought she was a fan. It was on a night out with Axl he said “not in this lifetime” wasn’t it? Even more hilarious that another act Rina Sawayama was also over 30 minutes late....strange since you have such narrow slots at festivals. Snooze you loose. No critical articles about those woman disrespecting the audience, to wash their hair, etc. I mean they could of just repurposed their ready to go guns timing issues ones...but nah, free pass! Because the rule is, you bring the old chesnut back at all costs....the greatest hits even exist in journalism folks! Lana going and talking to the fan and the mass sing-along of "Video Games" was the best tribute to Axl and DJ circa Reading 2010! How the times have changed....😆 Edited June 25, 2023 by colonizedmind

novemberparadise23
Great show in my opinion… I enjoyed the whole show. Wish the mix was a little better so vocals were a little higher in spots ( I watched the twitch stream) but enjoyed every second. Crowd seemed very loud in spots as well during sing along songs like sweet child and heavens door
