Black Sabbath
So, with Valentine's Day coming up, what do the significant others out there have planned for each other? My girlfriend and I are from different states so I'll be doing a little project involving both states/long distance. In addition to that, we're going to a concert on Valentine's Day also. And I'll probably get the typical chocolate or something that way I can eat it. Axls Rocket Queen
We don't do Valentine's Day, it's pretty pointless. The most we ever do is take advantage of any deals the supermarkets or non-cringey restaurants are doing on meals for 2 We don't bother with cards or presents or anything, it's just another day. This year, as I am working during the day and he is at the other end of the country, my current plan is to grab some food on my way home from work and then watch Aliens
Black Sabbath
I don't ever spend money on just a present, but I try to do DIY type presents; They're a little more meaningful and sentimental.
dontdamnmeuyi2015
Another non real holiday to spend money on cards and jewelry and candy.Same with Grandparents day. I mean you're a parent first and then maybe a grandparent, so we already have mother's day and father's day.If you have to wait for a day to express your love for another person that's just sad. You should show your love everyday of your life.

Apollo
We don't make a big deal out of Valentine's day.Any douche with a credit card and cell phone can have flowers sent to his spouse on VD. It always cracks me up to see how freaked out some women get on Valentine's Day because they got flowers or a box of candy and card. Wow, so your husband spent 30 seconds on the phone getting you flowers and spent $12 at the grocery store getting you candy and a mass produced card. Dang - how romantic. Send flowers to your wife's work, buy her a nice gift and take her out to dinner on a day she doesn't expect it - like July 12th - that's a nice thing to do. But being obligated to do something on a specific day - where is the romance in that?

Nah man, last weekend she bought all the drinks at the bar, she smoked me up and she bought me breakfast. The least I can do is buy her dinner next weekend. While I agree that there should be more thought and sentiment towards gifts on Valentine's Day, I don't agree with the "obligated to do something on this day" thing. That could apply to almost any holiday, especially gift-giving ones. That's why typically, I try to make things for people instead of just buying them some run of the mill gift or card. I like to give them something that they think "Wow, he actually thought about me and took the time to find something or make something just for me".
