Axl created a monster, people were used to see the "wild beast" who could outstage tom petty on his own song

ITA. Everybody says that they don't compare Axl's current performances with those of the '80s and the '90s, but we all do it subconsciously because the old performances are in our head and we can't help it. While with AC/DC it's different, as there's no previous record of him performing these songs and the only comparison that can be made is between him and the two original singers. But for a singer of Axl's league is harsher to be compared to himself than to other singers.

Were any of you around for the chat during the lifetime achievement award thing...I can't recall laughing harder in my entire life. But that was when guys like Magisme was here and the comments were so brutal it became funny. There was no way a show could have gone worse besides Bridge School but I don't make fun of that

I'm glad I wasn't here. I've read a few random threads and watched a few videos from 2011-14 and I realize how miserable those times were.

My guess is Axl is still traumatized from the early lawsuits with Adler and that's why he won't get more than two songs..

I don't think this is the reason. Slash and Duff have sued Axl personally (and not the whole band like Adler) and more recently, and Izzy wasn't involved in any lawsuit. Imo it's that 1) they still don't trust Steven given his history and they're testing him and 2) Axl feels protective to Frank.

As for the reason Steven played only one song in the Argentinian shows, I'm now inclined to think it has to do with the business deal with the promoters. Probably Adler is paid per song, the deal was for two songs and the band opted for him to play one song at each show instead of two at one show.
