Well, GNR fattening their wallets makes no difference to my life - I don't care how much money they make.

I love their music and the fact that they are able to occupy a top tour position in a day and age where Rock is all but dead.  I care very much about that genre in that its a passion of mine and I always cheer on anyone who is flying the flag for it.  So yeah, I get excited to see GNR in that position.  I wish they were in no.1 and beat U2. lol

LOL I'm sorry but the whole tour ranking IS ABOUT MONEY, isn't it? So if you care about it, that's fine. I'm not into money and rankings about who's got a larger dick...err... I mean, a larger wallet

I also love their music and I am a fan from the first hour who never jumped ship like so many others, yet, I'm not sure why I should be bouncing around like a ball just because of this tour

Many other rock bands have been touring successfully for years and that didn't prevent rock from entering a coma state. What rock needs is new blood, new people creating great songs, but for that you also need a change of wind, a change in society and music, so I think the revival of rock will come back at some point, but not because some dinosaurs are touring and filling stadiums with nostalgia shit.

Nobody is flying any flag here.... Most young kids don't give a fuck about GN'R or rock n' roll so don't chant victory before time.

As for U2, Coldplay and the rest.... who cares? They have their fans and I'm glad their tour is successful if that's important for them. And if it wasn't, it wouldn't mean a thing because they are an active band and keep releasing music like normal musicians do.

The important thing is that there are different bands for different tastes and audiences. I don't like Coldplay and I like some U2 songs but I won't lose sleep on them being bigger or fatter or older than GN'R. Each of them have their own market to care about.

I've yet to see GN'R giving their fans something more than just touring and same old songs.

That's ok, you don't have to bounce like a ball if you don't want to. ;)

Me, I will bounce all day long.   Not enough bouncing in my life.

I despise U2 and Bono and can't stand them overall (I won't pretend I never liked them at all though), but to be fair to them, Coldplay doesn't come even near.

HA! Looooove you! Can't stand U2, never could. Can't stand his voice. If they had a different singer they could be better. lol

I like The Scientiest from Coldplay and another song, forgotthename.

Also I don't care how much money musicians make. But the successfulness ranking of tours doesn't give me anything either.

What else? That's not Axl! No emojis. Never. You all know that.

Good for you. I'd rather bounce for a new album or new music.

You despise him for personal reasons or you mean his music?

I'm neutral about it. I never really paid him/them that much attention as to create either negative or positive feelings about him/them, lol.

All reaction they got from me was when I found out their album had been downloaded into my iPod. I was pissed off because of that and I had to learn how remove it ASAP

Coldplay is a pop-rock band in my opinion. Very commercial and for that reason, they appeal the masses. It is light music meant to entertain, with tunes that get stuck in your mind, very radio friendly and such. So I'm not surprised about their success.

EDIT: also as a reply to @killuridols

I think Bono is good as a singer and a songwriter at a certain type of songs, those trademark U2 ballads. I also used to like some of the stuff off their album War, but I think there were many British post-punk/new wave bands in the 80s that were much better than them. And I can't stand his persona at all.

Coldplay... just meh. Boring and uninspired.

I don't care about ticket sales and record sales either. I happen to like bands that many other people like and bands that few other people like. I don't reject something because it's commercial or because it isn't. I think it's interesting though that for quite some time the most successful tours are mostly by older acts.

@killuridols Thanks for the link to the Nikki interview.  Really interesting.  I've been reading up on him a bit lately and have ordered his book.

Me too. Let me know what you think. After the Nicki/Slash interview I am  over Nicki Sixx..& now   over Slash. What's wrong with me? Have I fallen under the spell of bad-boys-know-best, mixed with Hot aging rock stars with movie star smiles?

Maybe the two shouldn't be in the same room together, the room can't take such bad boy hotness. :drool::drool: I need a drink of water.

So, all of you seem to be either extremely happy or completely indifferent about GNR's massive success. Am I the only one who thinks it's actually terrible news? Obviously I don't mean I'd like these stooges to fail but ever since Axl took complete control of the band, GNR has been doing pretty much all the opposite of what the fans could want/hope for. There's been ONE album in two decades and basically the same show between 2001 and 2014, then they half assed the reunion and the show remained pretty much the same, just now with God (and the businessman) back in the band. With this level of success, there's no reason for them to do anything differently, so new music, interviews or getting the real band back together depend of their good will.

I mean, Axl didn't call Slash until almost destroying the GNR brand (turned a stadium band into an embarrasing Las Vegas act) when he didn't seem to have much of a choice anymore. When GNR (or should I say Axl?) have choices, they tend to make the worst ones and right now they can do whatever the fuck they want :nervous:

Anyway, I wanna hug @Blackstar for despising Bono!  And about Coldplay, they're the worst band I've ever heard hands down. Are they really supposed to be fun or entertaining? Because they don't do any of that to me, they depress me so bad I feel like slitting my fn' wrists whenever one of their songs come up :vomit:

Yes....I noticed that.

In Latin America the most succesful tour ever was when Soda Stereo reunited in 2007.....people was so happy :heart:, because their music is fucking timeless and awesome

Can I ask why?

Like I said in the last comment, I don't like his persona, especially the "champagne socialist" that he developed into and his building a career off that. And I don't like their music to a level that would make me ignore that.

In my opinion, this happens because the audience of those acts now can afford those tickets and also are adult enough to attend them.

I know this is the case of many GN'R fans, as well as mine, when they were popular in the 90s I couldn't go see them because I was a minor with no money and no support from family to be able to go to a show. Then band broke up and I had no chance to see them until they came back to my country after so many years.
