But I wonder if anyone has actually invited Axl in such a thing (I mean from the people Axl has talked directly with, not through TB). I suspect that people don't ever bother asking him, because it's common knowledge that he doesn't talk. Maybe he would go if he was asked (and was in the mood at the moment). Even in that Trunk interview I think Axl wasn't invited, he just had the impulse to go when Baz told him where he was.

My impression is that he only goes out in public when he needs to promote something.... Even that Trunk interview was arranged coincidentally when he was in NY, rehearsing to do those shows.... it was 2006 and he was out everywhere, showing himself with Sasha, creating an expectation...... but it was all because he had shows to do and CD was supposedly coming out that year.

Same with China Exchange and the O'Globo interview. :shrugs:

I think he must have hundreds of invitations to go to shows, radio, podcasts, etc. but he just pass them..... A good journalist never gives up. Im sure there's not one year that Rolling Stone doesnt remind him that their pages are waiting for his interview or that he's always gonna have space in their mag. All major media must have handed their invitations to the whole band for them to talk whenever they want to.

I saw this the other day

and I thought it would be very cool if Axl did an interview with Elton John. I wonder if he'd go if Elton John asked him to. He wouldn't refuse, right? Or he would?

Yes. That'd be amazing. This is what I mean.......... why cant he just sit down with a fella musician and be fucking normal?

I don't think he would refuse to Elton. Axl is elitist so I guess he'd only do it with someone of that caliber.

Hopefully Elton invites him and he accepts.... I dont think he's been interviewed in a proper way since the 90's.

Yeah, I'm sure he's had many invitations from journalists and outlets and has rejected them. But I wondered if a musician has invited him, Steve Jones for example; or they refrain from it because they know "Axl doesn't talk".

I don't know for sure but I think when you have a show or you are a journalist and you work in media, assuming things about the other person is not okay. You have to invite them over and over. Insistance is a quality that is required to achieve goals.

Artists are not easy but if you have a show with guests, you need to work very hard to get them and also there are people who pull out of an interview or invitation minutes before going in and so you need a replacement or some other content to fill the blank.

Steve Jones must have invited him, for sure, but for some weird reason Axl has picked low profile sets, like the China Exchange forum and the O'Globo network, which is a major channel in Brazil but no one gives a shit about it in the USA.

He pulled out of Jimmy Kimmel, for example...... :shrugs:

I don't know, I don't think the Jonesy's jukebox show is so high profile. It's on an LA radio station and I don't think it has guests all the time. It's not like Jimmy Kimmel or Howard Stern.

Like I said, it looks to me that he only comes out of his cave when he has to promote something. He already promoted this tour and it looks like it doesn't need more promotion so he's keeping it low at it, the tickets are selling anyway and he doesn't need to do much more.

For new music we will probably see him again

I think he also does it when he respects someone. I wouldn't have imagined him doing something like the China Exchange thing. It seems he did it because the sir Tang guy had some influence on him and he respected him.

I dream of seeing Axl on Jimmy Fallon and GnR Carpool Karaoke. I know this will never happen.

I think Axl couldn't be bothered to do this. And maybe other musicians who do radio stuff or whatever don't ask him because Axl is known to be "difficult" und they don't want difficult guests?

To me Axl looked rather uncomfortable on Jimmy Kimmel and also on some Trunk Interview in times of the porno moustache. Some time after 1993 he must have lost his ability to feel sure about himself in interviews. He was so relaxed with Kurt Loder all the time. So something happened after 93.

To me this is just how Axl is like and there's nothing to be done about it. In my mind I don't treat him like a normal adult anymore when I would expect things and go say "this is no effort. You can do it." I have the feeling that Axl is severely ill, like having a bad depression not being able to do too many sociable things, being committed to dates and appointments, talking to strangers etc. He either looks childishly happy, drunk or bored these days. It is clear to me that something is off. So I don't expect anything of the guy.

It all would depend on the issues. If Axl goes to the Kimmel show to talk about a Halloween tree. I couldn't care less. If Slash is doing an interview with Nikki Sixx. And he says "back to work" but he doesn't elaborate. It's just an interview about nothing, thanks but no thank you.

We have Ashba hinting his possible return. Why the GN'R camp allows such thing if Ashba only means self promotion?

I really don't understand why they are so incapable to give a straight answer. I know they hate people like Mick Wall. But now they have their official FB and twitter. All we get from their social media is bullshit

It's only a dozen people on the internet that is afraid DJ will be returning. It would be very silly for the GNR camp to say: 'Hello, we've heard some people on a forum think DJ might be returning, but he isn't!' Plus, 95% of the followers won't know what they're talking about.

DJ is just tagging GNR, as he's tagging SixxAM, to get attention. That's what tags are about, no? Get attention. In the article posted by MyPrettyTiedUpMichelle, DJ says he's concentrating on SixxAM, but since that project seems to be buried by Sixx, I guess DJ is 'between jobs'. He needs to say something to keep his followers and maybe even attract a few more by namedropping GNR.

GNR is on a break, they'll be back in June and if there's no news, there's nothing for them to say.

I thought Jimmy was an ass on that interview. He got a good chuckle on using Axl  being late & then he overused it. Axl was a pro & a gentleman, but I'm sure it was palpable that Kimmel was digging for a laugh at Axl's expense.

I've always thought that Axl has the bloated version of being overweight. Any meds can make this happen, including meds for bipolar, manic depression, etc...he's hovering around the mid 50s, so we don't know if his blood pressure is good, his thyroid, his etc...he could be taking different meds for who know what...I just find his fingers & face too puffy, & they often will swell up & then calm down which is a sign of meds in his system.

The camp spoke out against people who were taking credit for the reunion, someone like Steven Tyler. I remember they posted a letter or statement about it. So they should say something about this attention whore promoting himself and hinting about his return with GN'R.

Well, Jimmy Kimmel is Jimmy Kimmel. Part of his humour is to slag people off. After so many years my initial feeling about the interview was that Axl could have shown more self-depricating humour. That would have been cool. He tried and I think that's great but Axl never is self-ironic.

Anyway, the meds question or not. Whatever he is taking or not - it is not helping with be more going out, being more sociable so it doesn't really make a difference. So I don't really understand why you brought it up? (Genuine question.)  I agree that his face looks puffed up. Could alcohol, too. Or whatever it is he did to his face.

Coincidentally this happened when he was in the middle of the Axl/DC thing, so he had to promote it :shrugs:

The whole interview sounded scripted to me. I never felt him natural. He was so stiff and weird.... I hate that those few opportunities (Axl on National TV)  have been wasted like that and I'm sure this is not Kimmel's fault. It was a script based on what Axl wanted to talk about. No questions about Slash. Nothing too uncomfortable.

I agree that if the meds make him like that, they are not working :shrugs: or unfortunately the dose is so big that its side effects are very noticeable. Maybe this is one reason he doesn't do the radio and tv shows: he comes off looking and sounding too weird and he knows it.

But this medicine problem is only speculation on our part. To me, he is very fat but I don't know why he can't lose it. It's not only the face. His belly got really big and he hasn't been able to lose the weight in that area.

Makes you wonder why having a Personal Trainer doesn't seem to make any difference.

Slash is definitely in for Europe then, no Assba.

Can stop collecting the bottles for Donington then

Slash and Slash's father repost this on Instagram, I think is clear...That weird guitarrist is nowhere near GNR

Jimmy Kimmel is fluff interview...nothing profound...he has been that way...I think Axl handled very well and I particularly like the Halloween Tree bit...what's wrong with that?

I don't know the reason he doesn't do interviews, but when he does, he comes across a well spoken and very amiable guy (I particularly like the radio BBC one with Angus), and of course Sir David Tang's China Exchange that give us a ton of wonderful GIFs

I read part of a fanfic years back that had Axl and Slash as Big Brother contestants. It portrayed Axl as a crazy, machiavellian schemer. It was so bad it was almost good. :rofl-lol:

@MillionsOfSpiders what exactly is the diary room? Rather, how does a cintestant get to go in there? I've never seen the show. So I'm trying to understand.

BTW hope everyone enjoys 2018!

It's a reality TV show where celebrities get locked in a house together, so they're forced to interact (and fall out ). The diary room is where they go to whinge about each other.

Happy new year, babes, the worst fucking year of my life just finished, good riddance and hoping for good times.

Slash's interview was very sweet, i can feel the warm and while i'm not surprised by it it's still nice to see, i think the phone call before seeing each other was a wise move, a way to prepare the terrain, i think there would have been less drama if there was less let's go to X's house randomly and more scheduling so you can psych yourself up to it, the way he actually said physically talk again indicates it was a big surge of emotions.

Also interesting that he said that the bond made it worse, he experienced the break up for other bands before, could be he compared the situations for him emotionally and the why of his different emotional reaction? and tbh, i was thinking how all the mess with velvet revolver related to GNR and Axl, maybe in the everything was included that too. idk, i'm rambling.

Slaxl at it again with the marriage comparison

I don't think Axl will do interviews again, he feels uncomfortable now and he doesn't have to it so he won't

Sorry your 2017 was bad.  I can relate, had a bad one myself.  Here's hoping 2018 runs a little smoother!

Glad you brought up some of these points from Slash's interview - I pounced on some of the same things myself.  Kinda surprised there hasn't been more analysis of the interview in the WT, what with our crazy tendency to over-analyse round here. ^^

I thought it was funny how Nikki broached the topic, almost apologetically...'anything you wanna say...GNR related...? :smiley-confused2:

Also liked when Nikki said how the Motley break up 'left a hole in his heart,'  Slash agrees and says that 'there was always that thing' and that's what prompts him to say he doesn't want to get into 'all that personal stuff.'  Awwww....

Buy yeah, that he is still using the description of marriage-bond-love shows that he hasn't been flippant about using those words, they are meaningful to him.  I think he's awesome for being that candid.  He didn't have to be.   It can't be easy explaining such a deeply personal matter on a radio show, which is probably why he would trail off, not quite finishing his sentences...hard to talk about that kind of thing without coming off sounding stupid, or insincere...and he didn't at all.  He sounded genuine.

Agree with you about his mentioning the word 'physically' along with 'bond' and how they've always had this bond that never....[trailing off haha!!]

Re: the bond makes the negative stuff that much worse.  I took that to mean that because they cared so much, that's why it hurt so much, all the shit that went down.  He did say 'you're forced out of it' and I'm not entirely sure what he means by that or what 'it' is (the bond?).  Maybe the fighting and holding grudges forces you to try to not care, to harden your heart so to speak? :shrugs:  Ladies?  Anyone got an over-analysis of that? LOL

I was just so pleased to watch Slash come across happy and content, and it's obvious that he's thrilled to be back with Axl.  So now we know why Axl looked so deliriously happy on stage all the time - after enduring all those years of being miserable, he must feel like he has new lease on life.
