A waitress who worked at the Juma Opera Hotel in Manaus, Brazil was reportedly fired yesterday (Aug. 30) after taking a video of Axl Rose on the premises, according to Boletim Amazonia [translated via Google Translate].

Guns N' Roses are currently on tour in South America, with the first show taking place tomorrow at the Arena da Amazonia in Manaus. The video that the waitress took shows Rose standing on a balcony of the hotel waving and looking down, and the screams of fans can be heard in the background. The singer then walked back inside, escorted by a security guard and his longtime manager Beta Lebeis.

The Brazilian publication noted that the waitress was fired after the video leaked. She was approached by the press outside of the hotel, where she said, "I'm a big fan, I just wanted you to understand my feeling. I didn't run to them, I didn't make a fuss, I served them with great emotion. It's the best band of all time, it's our story and that's for us, it's not fair."

She then showed a tattoo of guns and roses she has on her lower back, indicative of her admiration for the rockers.

Apparently, the other fans of the band who were outside greeting Rose learned of her firing and began protesting outside of the hotel, imploring management to forgive her.

A couple of other GN'R fans reacted to the news on Twitter. Multiple users reported that the hotel staff was specifically asked not to photograph the band members' presence there, and that one of the consequences of doing so would be firing. It's unknown whether this has been confirmed by the hotel.

"Hello Axl, a woman was fired because she filmed you at the hotel in Manaus, I ask you to have compassion for her, I know I will never get close to you but seeing you up close for a video already makes fans happy," another fan wrote, tagging the singer in the tweet.

She should be working not on her phone. Not saying she should be fired but still she's in the wrong

It's unfortunate that she lost her job for something like this. But I guess it's not just about GN'R; allowing employees to film the guests would be bad for the hotel's reputation.

But maybe Axl will intervene if he sees her tattoo (picture and video here):

A fans love should be punished if they take things too far. Fandom isn't an excuse to do whatever you want. Especially as an employee on an employers time.

I won't say the name of the company, but back during the 2008 presidential election many employees of a well-known cellular company looked up the account of Barrack Obama once he started to become super famous and won the nomination. All of them were fired for violating company policy, even though no changes were made, no harm was done (these employees were just curious and/or fans). To me, it's basically the same thing.

Especially when the employer anticipated the behavior and warned the employees.

Instead of playing victim, the person involved should be accountable and take responsibility for her actions. She may not like the consequences that resulted, but she should have considered that more before she took action.

I think it's "easy" to side with this person and sympathize. Because we're all fans.

But, again, people need to be accountable for their behavior and actions. When warned not to do something by your employer, it's a big risk to make the decision to do your own thing. As adults with free will and choices, people need to learn to accept the consequences of their decision making. This person certainly isn't doing that. And the people supporting her are thinking with their heart, not necessarily logically.

I'm not familiar with Brazilian law, but, even if she wasn't an employee, capturing video on private property is often prohibited. But being an employee actively on the clock surely places her in the wrong.

While I'm not happy to read that someone lost a job, I also subscribe to the axiom "If you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes". This person and those that looked up Obama's account made really bad decisions. They did it to themselves, They're not victims.

This is a very common policy. I work closely with a boutique hotel who has celebrity guests fairly frequently and they regularly remind their employees not to do this.

It should go without saying you don't film guests at your workplace, no matter who it is. 

It's bad enough it has to be spelled out, let alone people still doing it even if they're told not to.

I hate to sound cold and insensitive, but rules are rules. She was at work. Yes, it's sad, but she was told what would happen ... she's got to remain professional.

I often work with famous people and unless the situation calls for it, you can't just do stuff like this. There's a time and a place – when you're at work (and the famous person is not), that ain't it🤷‍♂️

To be honest I can see why she was fired for that. I assume she's on the clock and she's secretly filming a guest.

With all the negative backlash this received, she'll probably get her job back and sign a legally binding contract stating she is not allowed to film guests in this manner or she will be fired again, this time permanently and no negative backlash will ever cause her to get her job back.

Lesson to be learned, by all, for infinity: There are almost always consequences and a price to be paid for the decisions we make.

For this lady, capturing the video was one decision, sharing the video among a private group was yet another. As a result of the 2nd decision she's now paying the price for both of those decisions.

It's the same offline too.  "Don't tell anyone" this person tells one person that person tells someone else and in a few days and weeks nearly everyone knows.

I think at the end of the day she was told not to under any circumstance take a photo or video while they were in the hotel.  She ignored this and thus lost her job i'm sorry but at the end of the day she has nobody to blame but herself.
