Well I can, seeing as those are all incredibly dull and soulless instrumental tracks.

Regarding Duff's "we got this," quote: I wish we could have actually heard/read the question posed to Duff.

"Are you recording a new album?" - don't worry we got this, sounds a lot different than "should Guns N' Roses fans expect any new material" - don't worry we got this.

In this case, I can see the journalist/editor conflating the two questions when in reality those could be two very different answers.

That's a good point. Assuming that the prose in the article follows the flow of the conversation with Duff, the context of the quote is that GN'R have released only two songs so far (they forgot Absurd) but not an album yet. So it makes sense that the question was about an album specifically.

I disagree. I mean, it's fine if you dislike it, but one of the things I immediately figured it was Robin is how particular he is with bending and choice of notes. Just because it's simple it doesn't mean it's something that anyone could have come up with.

I listened to 2000 Perhaps and 2023 Perhaps again this morning. Robin's solo is way more fitting to the song, his high notes go well with Axl's high notes. Slash's tone seems off, too low but it picks up towards the end. I like just about everything more on 2023 Perhaps compared to the 2000 version, except the lead guitar. A good compromise, IMO would have been to keep most of Robin's solo, and have Slash play a solo, or half a solo after Robin's. This worked well on Chinese Democracy with Robin and Bucket's solo, and on Quick Song. TWAT was nice, as they split the solos up. Not sure if that would have worked on a song as short as Perhaps, but anything is possible.

This isn't the first time a superior solo has been trashed in favor or a lesser one. The album Rhiad's solo by Bumblefoot sounded awful and uninspired compared to the solo from the leaked versions.

We're all cynics for good reason and it doesn't give much a way BUT to say and naturally respond as he did, is a very forward and confident sounding thing to say from a man that knows more than us...that's a hope sure...but if nothing was happening or planned but he didn't want to say that, there's a million other responses to deflect. That's a watch this space, something is planned/coming ! Sooner than we all probably think. Now that could be an EP or something other than an album (more likely...)

"Sooner than we all probably think" could be 2030 or even later

Also I've heard "Priming the Pumps" has a fucking rippin 4Tus solo! Nuno posted about it on Twitter...apparently a Cd-R was slipped in his jacket pocket after that make-up pint he grabbed with Richard in Boston....

Robin has a nice solo on This I Love and Better. Buckethead has a nice solo on TWAT.

Besides that, I have no desire to hear these two on a Guns N' Roses song ever again. Just a bunch of fast notes and bleep-blorp nonsense.

Robin Finck's Perhaps solo might be the most overrated solo in Guns N' Roses fandom. It's the most pedestrian, any-session-player-could've-come-up-with-this solo I'd ever heard.

Bucket maybe but what about Fincks solos on CD, Street and quick song.

You guys, I'm back to being bored again. I loved everything about the "Perhaps" release and I'm happy "The General" is coming. The set lists on the current leg of the never-ending tour have been fun. But are we ever gonna hear news of an actual record? They're about to end the tour and go on hiatus again while Slash and I assume Duff tour their other projects.

"The General" will bring back some excitement for sure. That can get me through the end of the year. lol

This is perfect. My favorite part is that you put Wichita Lineman on disc one.

To answer your question the answer is no we will never get any news on an actual record. Axl has an entire second record called CD2, Stay of Execution, Red Panda or whatever. But for some reason even though it’s been 7 years including all of 2020 and most of 2021 when nothing was happening, they only re-worked 4-6 songs.

Im just so glad we are getting the general. Otherwise this year would be another massive disappointment.

Next year looks to be a break from touring so the next single maybe 2025. I wouldn't have thought a whole album though until they've finished putting one or two singles out that can be compiled in to an album.

I hope they will release atlas shrugged in 2024, possibly paired with state of grace or something we never heard yet.
