consiglieri
Maybe this has been discussed before. In that case my apologies. This I love was never one of my favorite songs, bit now I heard a version on Soundcloud (leaked version???) and I must say that that version dounded a lot better. What do you think? WhazUp
I am assuming the leaked version you are talking about may be the version made for the remix album that leaked that have newer raspy Axl vocals on it. If so, I agree Axl does sound great on that - that said I do like the original instrumental more overall

Cosmo
I like the remix a lot more. Not a big fan of the original. If they made a new version which is basically remix, but with real, organic drums and a cool solo, that would've been perfect for me. Gordon Comstock
The album version has one of the best instrumental's in the GNR catalogue, but the vocals and lyrics bring it way down. On the other hand, the vocals on the remix are so good that it doesn't matter that the lyrics are cheesy. Those are some of Axl's best vocals IMO.
Sweersa
I prefer Axl's vocals on the album, which is balanced and more natural. The remix version sounds forced, he's basically screaming the song. I still enjoy both.
DSTK
The raspy remix version ? It badly misses a solo
AlterL
mmm.... Instrumental is better on the released version, chorus is better on the leak, but the verses do sound better on the album, I so wish I knew how to do mixes, that would be one I would love to do. Dean
The album version is one of the many highlights on Chinese and features one of the best solos in GNR's back catalogue. It was practically Axl's solo spot for the first few years of the NITL run - I was unfortunately in attendance in Berlin... it wasn't long til it was dropped entirely after that. Hearing the remix in full for the first time was incredible. Those vocals are outrageous and it's a pity that something like this isn't available to the public, along with all the other work Axl has created over the past 25 years. ShadowOfTheWave
Definitely prefer the album version. Yeah, Axl's rasp is nice on the remix, but he goes way overboard with the melodrama and emphasizing every other syllable.
Underhardy
Those raspy vocals are some of Axl’s best, period. And personally I’m convinced those vocals were recorded around 2009, which really makes me hope he recorded a helluva lot more vocals during that time. GnR Chris
Love 'em both. Very different. The vocals are so good on the remix. And the song just slaps. Has a totally different vibe. The studio version is nice though. That solo is good.
Appetitefordiscussion
The raspy song is groovy and impressive but I think the vocals on the album match the lyrics better. They’re both pretty different and both badass Edited August 22, 2023 by Appetitefordiscussion
GoodOlJohnnyK
The remix is an interesting vocal take, but everything else about it is pure garbage and they were wise not to move forward with the release of the remix album if this is the quality of remix they were shooting for. The album version is a little bit heavy on melodrama (it leans way into the whole Phantom of the Opera vibe) but that’s just the character of the song. The remix sounds like it should be playing in a shitty day spa in an upper middle class neighborhood that’s trying to appear upscale but is actually just cheaply decorated with masseuses that don’t show up to their appointments and the whole place closes down 3 months after it opens. jamillos
The Brain remix (raspy) is the best Axl I've ever heard, live or studio.
SoulMonster
Although I find the original vocals to be a tad pompous, the vocals on the demo/remix are way too raspy.
jimisbatman
Love both versions, I have them on different playlists.
rumandraisin
Album version everytime. The remix is a nice novelty but the vocals are too raspy for the tone of the song. On the album the vocals are subtle in parts and build, there's ebb and flow and it all adds to the emotion. The remix is just so in your face, doesn't work for me.
