I haven't watched any videos, so I can't speak on how they sound. But you have to see this in person to really get how fucking awesome it is. It felt like I was watching one of my UYI dvds, it was THAT fucking good. Axl was absolutely awesome 95% of the time. Sure he had a couple of moments here and there, but I am not going to hold 5% against him. Not when he fucking killed the other 95% of the time. Fucking YCBM sounded the best I have heard it sound in 20 plus years.

It was such an amazing show. I'm still speechless. Everybody that went last night, that I have talked to, all feel the same way. We witnessed fucking magic last night.

Go see them for yourself when they come to you town, that's all I can say. 1000X better than ANY NUgnr concert, and I saw them in 2002 and 2011. Last night blew those shows away. Not only that, last night they blew away every other band on the planet. They are reclaiming their thrown one show at a time.

That's my review.

I can't wait to be down on the floor & see that fuckin stage looming up over me, and hear the tunes in person, instead of filtered thru electronic devices on both ends... I know exactly what you are saying man!

Review (of sorts)

First things first: THANK YOU to everyone who made it out to the pre-party. As expected, it didn't matter than most of everyone hadn't met each other prior. Within a few minutes, everyone got along like they'd known each other for years. I know we all talk to each other on here everyday, but it can still be awkward meeting in person for the first time. There was no awkwardness or anything. Everyone jumped right in, dug in the record bins, grabbed drinks, shot darts and so on. It's worth noting that I was undefeated in darts yesterday, btw.

@Powerage5 and I started just after 9am as planned and I'm sure you guys saw all the pics throughout the day yesterday. He got a lot of pics on his DSLR, so I'm sure he'll post much better pics soon. Ended up taking off from the house right around 715 or so after all the local friends got out of work and showed up. Parked at the casino smoothly as planned and walked down to Ford Field. Got right in with no Flash Seats problems whatsoever. Hung out in the concorse drinking with friends instead of watching Chains. From what I could hear, they did the same set they did in Vegas. I don't hate them, but I wasn't in any hurry to see them again is all. They did sound good from what I heard though.

After Chains was done, we went up to our seats. We had great seats with a view of everything except a little of the back screen. After we got to our seats we endured what had to be the shortest wait for GN'R in the history of GN'R. The neon logo and gun animations started at 9:30 and the lights went out at 9:38, which is crazy. As you've all heard from the videos, the band was in top form. People all around us were really shocked at how good Axl sounded. It was nice to see everyone around us so into the show. I honestly don't have a favorite song of the night because everything sounded excellent, so it's too hard to choose. I do have a least favorite though because well, fuck The Seeker.

At least 10 of my friends that went were first timers and they all sent me texts either last night or this morning saying they were blown away. I even had one friend who drove separate because she had to work early today and was figuring she'd leave earlier than us. She's not a big fan, but she wanted to see them at least once. She ended up staying for the whole show because she was so impressed which is pretty rad. I think Axl's mood helps things like that. He was all smiles though the whole night and it really escalated the mood in the room IMO. His comment about all the food being fried was funny, but I actually LOL'd at what he said during KOHD. It's awesome to see him have a sense of humor about himself and it seems to make him a lot happier.

I'd rate the show 9.5/10 with the .5 missing due to The Seeker because, well, fuck The Seeker. Very much looking forward to doing it all over again next week in Chicago!

Forgot to mention the stage. I went in not giving a remote shit about the stage, but ended up really impressed. Like others have said, it's basically the UYI stage on steroids. Well done to whomever was involved in designing that setup.

Great Nightrain!

Axl worked with a vocal coach this year, right? He seems to be singing more, screaming less, cleaner voice (not mi**ey) and less rasp. But also seems to be holding back or not having kicked into top gear yet - but in Nightrain he seems to push it more. Gets stuck in that weak, raspless part in PC - a song which deserves thundering vocals. But I'm sure great things are to come. Great start to this leg!!

I'm surprised by how good Axl has sounded. I like what he's doing with his voice on RQ and Civil War. He's taking the ACDC approach to his vocals and getting the tone and sound more in line with the studio versions than trying to sing like he's 26 again.

The vocals still sound a bit raw in terms of not quite being full, but like I said I love where he's going with it and I expect his voice to keep getting sharper as the tour rolls. Excellent first night!

I really dig the seeker, but I understand how others might feel about it.

I fucking love the stage, and I also didn't think it was something I would care about.

Man what a night.

Yeah stage looks cool from the videos

It just felt like watching a UYI show, it really did.

Also let me add, it's was cool but also felt a little weird to see SO many people wearing guns n roses shirts, and seeing SO many people dressed up like Axl and Slash. That was surreal in itself, especially to a long time fan like me.
